Uber in Japan

Hi, looking for some advice regarding transport in Tokyo.

Does anyone have experience using Uber for small groups (2-4) travelling longer distances (for example from Shinjuku to Mt. Fuji) and it's reliability/availability?

Uber app shows approximate cost $70 for a one way ride. Train ticket pp one-way is almost $50.

Bus? btw, how you gonna come back?

  • That doesn’t seem right. It’s showing 40,000JPY for me

    • That sounds more like it… guess it really was too good to be true.

There is absolutely no way a two and a half hour trip in an Uber in Japan is $70.

    • Uber is super expensive from my expience in Japan so unlikely.

Go Share is the best ride share.
we used it last week around tokyo and cost was much cheaper than regular taxi.

Just rent a Skyline and drive/drift yourself there.

This is the way. Cranking Tsuko G - Deja Vu at full ball.

      • Was that a typo, or is this a funny situation where one of us has the phrase wrong all this time?

Common misinterpreted phrase that I maintain to this day.

My understanding is that transport around Japan is primarily done on the back of a dragon.

I recommend watching Spirited Away for instructions.

That estimate cannot be correct. Also, no driver in his right mind is going to accept a trip to Mt. Fuji. If somehow you do get there, it will be almost impossible to get a ride back because of the low population density and probable lack of Ubers in the area. Just rent a car, I did it myself and it wasn't bad at all.
