  • I bought it at the same price in Feb 2021.
That's the cheapest its been AFAIK.

  • +5

very good one, start diesel engine without any problems

  • would this start a completely dead car battery that hasn't been used for 4 months?

    • +2

It will start your car regardless of the condition of the battery. Then the alternator will keep you car running. Dead battery needs to be put on a charger.

    • +2

If you are going to start a completely dead battery you have to put it in emergency mode as it wont detect voltage and wont output anything.

    • +3

As stated by the others, this will start the car as long as you push the boost button on the lead set. I have started a 4L diesel engine with mine when the battery was completely dead

  • How's this compared to https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08J2LM6VG ?? the cheaper 1500A version ??

only have cars with petrol & < 3L engines.
Is spending that extra $50 worth it ??

Probably would never buy a diesel car, nor any petrol car larger than 3.5 L engine.

    • +5

Definitely worth it for a few reasons. The capacity is best case scenario, new device, fully charged at room temperature. But reality is they sit in your car for months, often in high heat or cold and may not be performing at max capacity. Also the car you are jumping may have other issues and need a few tries.

Then you may need to jump start someone else's car which does have a larger engine. So getting a larger capacity jump starter has many benefits. But if it was me i'g get the one of the newer GT units, this 3000A is only $10 more https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09TDN4JN6/

      • +3

Definitely keep them out of the heat if possible. Heat shortens their life. 60c is easy inside a car in the sun. I leave mine in a small foam esky

      • Ive got gt3000 and 4000 great devices but annoying you have to wait 10 minutes after 3 jumps, before u can try again used on my ride on .

        • +1

Yes but i guess it greatly extends the life of the units battery. I've only been in that position once before, i came across someone stranded in the bush. They tried starting the car so much the battery was down. So trying to diagnose the issue i jumped his 4wd probably a dozen times trying different mechanical things, running my OBD reader etc. Turns out his kid threw his keys, the tiny immobilizer chip had came out.

Every other time it's started first or second try, even the ride-on and a high compression carby 355 stroker with fully dead battery.

          • @LowRange: For sure just a pia when i was trying to get my mulcher bloody going lol turned out be damn spark plug fouled.

I've just used it the other day on a 4L petrol SUV. Battery was flat (4V), I pressed "boost", waited 30 seconds and started the car first time. No issues. 22 degrees outside temperature on the day. NRMA wanted to replace my battery and refused to jumpstart my car, so this saved me $280 they asked for a new battery. This reminds me I need to file a complaint with NRMA.

      • Still sounds like your battery is dying and need replacing ASAP.

      • Not under warranty?

      • Thats not been my experience with NRMA, when we had issue with the car the first time they came out they just did a jumpstart and left it at that, basically if the issue continued to reoccur, then replace the battery. We eventually called them out a second time to replace the battery.
If the battery is already known to be faulty, sounds to be like they're just saving you time.

  • Only start engines up to 10 litres?
    Pffft! Won't start mine. Pass.

  • +1

    Good battery.
The only disappointing thing is it outputs 16V into cigarette lighter socket so I can’t use it with my 12V pump (it trips over voltage protection).

    • -3

umm are you sure it is triggered by voltage ??

I think it might be amp triggered. (current not voltage). that's usually how fuses work

    • +1

Yep. You're lucky to have over voltage protection.

      I fried a small 12 V / 240 V inverter with the GP2000 model, same 15V out.

    I'm getting "Currently unavailable"

  • +3

Thanks bought another (this is my 5th one). Can never have too many!

    • +3

Yes you can, tbh 5 sounds like 3-4 too many.

    • +1

You have too much money to spend?

    • Time to buy a new car

    • +1

I thought i was bad, i have 3 Gooloo jump starters and their battery charger.

  • -1

Do they have one that'll start a Tesla with a flat battery?

  • +2

These are good and I have bought them before. But just be aware that there is a known issue with some Gooloo chargers.

If you completely drain out the charger (say you forget about them for a few months) they are bricked and there is no way to charge them up again.
I had to return mine for a replacement.
It could only be an issue with a few of them but to be safe, if you do buy them, make sure you periodically charge them fully.

    • +1

You might need a jump starter for a jump starter.

    • Put it in the the fridge for 24hrs and then charge it. A guy that works at Jaycar told me to do this with a Logitech Elite remote battery that was dead and couldnt get a replacement. It worked! I did the same with my RC battery and also worked

  • what's the life span of this?

    • I’d imagine 5 to 10 years before it no longer charges.
      24 Months Stand-by Time

“It is the newest and most advanced jump starter by GOOLOO brand till now. No regular charging is needed even it's not in use.”

      • @Cheap Rich Guy Do you mean this model listed by op here or the newer GT3000/4000 models

        which are the newest?

      • thanks mate!

    • +1

Depends on what you mean. I would check the charge every 3 months or so. Lithium batteries are rated in terms of full charge cycles and don't like being drained completely so it should last many years if you check the charge regularly and don't let it go to zero and don't let it get too hot. You get more lifespan out of lithium batteries from doing partial charges rather than full drain and full charge.

Battery will hold for probably a lot longer than 3-6 months but better to keep it topped up in case you ever need it.

    • Mine went cactus after trying to jump start a very flat car. Correct polarity and everything. Batteries inside instead puffed up and luckily didn't explode in the face. Didn't expect that from a Gooloo

  • +1

I bought one 3 years ago. Recently, it did not work anymore. After searching reviews on Amazon, many people have the same issue. If you don't charge the battery frequently, it dies ultimately.

    • +1

Yes, previous models needed to be charged 2-3 times a year. Newer GT models don’t need regular charging and are good for 24 months without a charge.

      • For both the GP (the one in the OP) and the GT model, Galoo website in their FAQ says they both need to be recharged every 3 months. Where are you getting the info from that they are good for 24 months without charge?

  • +3

Only thing really annoyed me with gt models is they dont include the decent case you gotta pay 40 bux extra..

    • My GP2000 only came with a soft pouch . For the case, I got it from taobao.

      • For the price they should include the hardcase made for instead of charging more.

  • Can this, or any other portable jump starters trickle charge lead acid batteries?

    • +2

I don't think they are designed as such, it will turn off after sometime.

    • This has a battery inside. Trickle charger has a transformer inside. Two different devices for two different purposes.

    • +1

No, but i have the Gooloo S10 battery charger also and it works great, i like it more than the Ctek i own. https://www.amazon.com.au/stores/page/6DCD9E5B-8AE0-4CC1-82A…

Have one of these and highly recommend. Had an alternative cheaper brand before this one, and although it was ok, the gooloo is So much better.

Started my car with a GOOLOO 2000A a week ago. Amazing device. Used roughly 1/4 - 1/2 of the charge. For a 2017 Subaru Outback still with factory battery. Great devices. Well worth owning one. I suppose 4000A gives you a bit of extra range if your battery doesn't end up charging after the first run (e.g. battery totally dead). Also gives you some headroom if you use the device as a power bank as well.

    • +1

So fast compared to normal jump starting too. Very fast connection. Immediate start. And of course no finding and juggling another car. Assume safer too. Stores in a smaller space than regular jumper cables. Only down side is you have to keep it charged.

      • Can't you just connect it to the 12v cigarette lighter socket until you need it next time?
