[WA] 20x Free RAT Tests @ Midland Gate Shopping Centre

130

A huge shipment of RAT tests has just been unloaded in Midland Gate, outside City Chic/Rebel/Zamels. The staff gave me 20- no proof of local residency required. I overheard them say they will give you a whole box if you have a family.

Brand: MP Biomedicals Pty Ltd
Expiry: 16/08/2023

Not sure how long they’ll be there.

    WA Government has expiring stockpiles.

They had them out all sorts of places.

  • I dont have any rats that need testing .

  • I assume this is businesses offloading oversupply? I am sure we will be seeing a lot of this over the next year or so.

Just recently got over covid, did 5 tests during and none came up positive, the other test(forget what its called) picked it up just fine. I question the accuracy of these big time tbh.

    • This is free from WA Govt at various shopping centres around WA

Still doesn't piss me off as much as Harvey Norman and the job keeper bullshit. Not to get all political on a bargain finding site but we should have a plan for if/when this sort of pandemic happens again, I think the main screw up was the complete muddle up of government bodies, one minute we are listening to feds, next we are listening to state, I could only imagine how much messier it was behind closed doors.

    • A positive result is now really faint and takes a good 30mins to show up. Friend showed me their negative test (even though they felt crook).. it was positive, they just didn't notice as it was so light.

Not free, paid for by our tax $. About $100 million of expiring rat tests rotting away atm. Should be criminal how much money was wasted

        As it should have been.

You were one of those hysterical hypochondriacs that wanted to keep the borders shut for 50 years, weren't you?

Welp, covid is here and has been for a long time…but when I look up I can still see the sky! Incredible!

    • And if we didn't have enough, people would have also whined. Can't win either way. Id rather they have more than not enough.

    • Not “wasted” if you are those who have “teamed” up with our corrupted government to split the profits from selling these RAT tests to the government. You know the RAT test laws back then were enforced by our government and they were also those who ditched such laws after a few months later right?

  • Walked past there today, didn't grab any and neither did most people I saw, I think everyone in WA got their own little stockpile at home already. This will all end up in landfill end of the year when they expire.

  • Is there any enforceable law needs us to do the test travelling within Australia? I think except for some countries need a positive test before and after arrival these things are next to obsolete?

    • you mean negative test?

    • Yes, I think we're the last place in the world that still requires them on cruises.

      • Thought it was a requirement from the actual cruise companies

Just a heads up. I saw 2 positive rat tests today (that the people thought was negative).

The T band was very light, but it was there if you really looked hard.

Also took a good 25mins to show. At 15mins it appeared negative.

Redoing the rat (but leaving it in a nostril for 20seconds) gave a slightly clearer result, but still not enough to see in a photo.

This is what a positive looks like (even though one was highly symptomatic, the other thought they just had hey fever (hardly any symptoms)

    • The question is who cares if the results are negative or positive? There is no law requires us to self isolate even if we are tested positive.

FFS… Do we really need someone to tell us/ make a law on what the right thing to do is? What a muppet society we are becoming.

Imagine a government giving you the freedom to make your own correct choice? You want common sense enforced?

Engage your brain and think about what the consequences may be for others.

My partner had no symptoms at all, I just had a stuffy nose, my neighbour has only just began to be able to walk again since 2019, and my work colleague died.

Point is it effects everyone different, and by "not caring, staying home" you may be just making someone feel miserable for a week, disabling them for years, or giving them a death sentence.

Take a RAT (they're bloody free), look hard at it after 30 mins. If in any doubt, stay home. Simple..we all did that, this shit would be non existent within n 2 weeks. ..but we "don't care".

LOL! Welcome to earth where people live here care only themselves unless there are consequences such as the laws say otherwise. Face the reality, if you don’t have expectations and you won’t be disappointed.

@wtfnodeal: As Barney would say…True Story!

Those who can't think without enforcement…China is a wonderful place ..I'll shout you a one way ticket..

            • @tunzafun001: Nah USA is a much better place than China when it comes to no enforcements, freedom to think or not to think, upholding human rights and COVID death tolls. China isn’t even close Australia…

Unfortunately long Covid is real and can be debilitating. We know several healthy younger people that died from Covid and their parents are still alive.
For most people, it's nothing, just a cold and they will tell you that the flu was worse.
We have to look after ourselves as no one cares.

            @trixieb: …advanced species ..but are we..really?

Good proof of concept that when a deadly virus does hit, we will all be done in just under 4 years..as having enough savings to stay home and watch Netflix for 7 days is "asking way too much".
