Seeking Recommendations for a Quiet Electric Kettle

Hi all

I am looking for a quiet eletric kettle.

My old Russell Hobbs model started leaking and I got a Kmart one in the interim. The latter is way too loud. From your own experiences, which model of kettle would you recommend?

I see that Quiet Shield is something Sunbeam claim on their kettles. The reviews seem mixed on how much less noise these kettles make.

TIA

I have the Kmart one too and yes it’s loud. I feel plastic bodied kettles are quieter than metal bodied. Or try to fill the Kmart one to the max (fuller is quieter) and use a flask to save the water for later use.

    • Thank you for the suggestions.
I do use it to the max but its way too loud esp. in the mornings when you want to let others sleep in.

  • I find our Fellow Corvo EKG to be pretty quiet, certainly more so than our previous kettle (a Breville multi-temp model). It's a very different price point to what you'd find at Kmart though.

    • Thanks for that. I will note that one and wait for more responses to get a wider short list to consider.

Kmart was just an interim solution as I struggled to find a decent model at short notice. Happy to spend on a good appliance that lasts. The kettle gets used all the time.

      • I have a Fellow Stagg EKG, its definitely quieter than standard kettle (and faster boil) however its very expensive.

  • Plastic body and exposed heating element coils = quiet electric kettle.

i just bought an Aldi Kurchef kettle (glass) last weekend.

heaps quieter than the Russel Hobbs kettle it replaced

  • I would recommend Sunbeam. I looked into this when I first worked from home in 2020 and purchased the previous version of this one. It is much quieter than my previous metal one.

  • rather than a Kettle, I have recently switched to using a Phillips water station

Sure, it's a tad more expensive than the usual Kettle, but considering how frequently I use the kettle in the past and how much of the hot water I wasted, it made sense to go with this one.

I always filled the Kettle 1L, heat to 100 degrees, used perhaps 200-300ml and the rest cools to room temp. With this, I only dispense the exact amount I needed. Plus I can get access to chilled water at all times.

It's truly one of the best investment I've made.

why didn't you just fill the the kettle with slightly more water than you will use and then you are not unnecessarily heating water you won't use?

our min boil line is around 600ml
        .

  • Our Kambrook is very quiet but mixed reviews

  • Just get an instant boil. from kmart

    • Never considered that. Much faster than a kettle :)

  • I don't think there is really such a thing as a quiet electric kettle.

I usually just go for "fastest boiling" which are usually the cheaper ones that don't double check temperature when boiling.

  • If a kettle is the only noise problem you have in life, count yourself very, very, very lucky.

However, if it is that much of a problem, then for a price you can have peace and quiet for ever.

PS, you can always close the kitchen door when you boil the kettle, and no-one else will hear it.

    • Thanks. Kitchen has no door - troubles of open plan living.

      • OK. I know I could not live with open plan living! It's nice, but….

Water in saucepan/pot on stovetop. Bring to boil.

  • Hi all

Settled on this model. Comes with Quiet Mark (a UK certification for noise abatement). Also repairable with spare parts from the manufacturer.

  • First world problem.

    Seriously.

I have never heard of anything more trivial.
