Google Play App Download Issue

Hopefully someone has insight into the current problem I am having. I have never changed my google play country to any other country but recently I have noticed that whenever I try to find an Australian app, it isn't there.

Sometimes I can find the app via a google search rather than via the google play store. Most of the times when I do this, I get the message "This item is not available in your country". I have checked the account and device preference of the google play app and it shows Australia.

The only thing I can think of is that I am connected to a YouTube Premium family subscription where the user originally had it set up in India and in August it was changed to Argentina billing. My location in the YouTube app is showing as Australia.

This issue is the same regardless of using my tablet or S22 Ultra. Anyone have any idea on how to fix this? Should I contact Google Play support or is there a chance of losing my email (which I have had for most my life and have everything linked to)

Thanks

  • Do a google takeout first if you’re worried about losing the account.

  • +1

Whichever country the family subscription is set up to, Argentina in your case is the App Store library everyone in the family will use.
This is the conclusion I have come up with from my experience in dealing with the same issue. I have multiple accounts setup on my device.

  • that could be the reason for your app issues.

plus i wont use your primary gmail account for anything BUT getting your android device setup and connected to google services.

  • Ok I will leave the family group and never use this email again for anything related to shared overseas account. Hopefully it will fix itself once I leave the group

  • FYI if anyone else has this issue, I left the family group for the youtube premium membership and my google play is now working correctly. It can find and download Aussie apps.
