  • $4.50, for a McDonald's Cheeseburger?

    LOL!

  • +1

It's not even worth $2. $1.80 is about the max it's worth.

    • Please show your workings.

      • +1

I would need about 4 cheese burgers to be full. That's $18, which I can get a decent take away at many healthier takeout places. So I'd say $2.50 a cheese burger is probably worth its cost.

      • Yeah right after Maccas gives us a cost breakdown for their burgers.

      • +2

Well it doesn't matter to me what they claim their cost is, that's just the maximum I'd pay. I will NEVER pay $4.50 for that miserly, awful-tasting burger that would barely satisfy a toddler. I'd rather go hungry, would even skip food for few days if I were traveling and McD's was the only food available along every highway, than pay that utterly ridiculous price. But since there are other places to buy food, I'd buy a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter and make a bunch of sandwiches using my finger for a knife if need be, or just wait til I got home to eat. That price is crazy.

  • +2

What about frozen drinks now, gone from $1 to around $4. Unless you purchase 1 using the slow ass app.

    • The price changes depending on the time of day. Standard for a large is now $2 if you order between 10.30am - 11:59pm outside of those times the price jumps to over $4

  • +3

Dominos have already announced they regretted raising their prices as it drove customers away and negatively impacted their share prices. With 4 more rba rate rises on the calendar, many of these comfort food outlets will be feeling the pain.

    • +2

They added a surcharge when paying with a card.

    • +1

Wow a company who actually admitted raising prices caused them to lose customers, wonders will never cease.

    • I doubt Maccas cares or will make a difference. They get plenty of business still.. Unless they introduce a cheap $2 or $3 menu again thought. That would be good.

    • What do you mean? Weren't they 'forced' to raise their prices by 'inflation', like all these 'struggling' food outlets?

      • +1

No one 'forces' anyone to do anything, everything is a choice. Some companies simply choose to absorb the cost to ride out the storm. Dominos 'chose' to pass the cost increase onto their (repeat) customers, who then chose to no longer do business with them.

  • +1

I would pay $2 for one of these tiny things, no more. Sometimes the app has them for that price.

This new price… Why would you? Get a local hamburger from you local fish and chip shop for maybe 9 or 10 bucks and it will be 4 times the size at least. Much more economical….

  • +3

It's pricing for people who don't pay attention and buy without thinking. They've always been the worse value option, $3.45 from memory before

A hamburger is $2, so they're charging more than double for a slice of processed cheese.

A double cheeseburger is $1 more so that makes much more sense.

  • +4

I think the most sickening price rise is the 3pc McNuggets now costs $5

    • +1

Ouch! Is that with nothing else, just 3x nuggets!? You can get a box of tempura nuggets (about 19 in a box I think) for $3.60. Even less at Aldi. But that's full retail price. So $3.60 divided by 19 = ~19 cents each, which means 3pc at McDonalds should be $0.19 x 3 = 57 cents. Yes there's still heating them, wages, etc but even so, no-one would convince me they NEEDED to increase these prices.

      • I really like your screen name.

        • I used to like (the old) Dingo Blue internet.

          • @[Deactivated]: Yeah. What was it, $25 per month? When OzEmail was still charging something absolutely ludicrous like $7/hr.

            • @DingoBlue: Or the free one… supported by adds that would pop up on your screen…. "Global Freeway" maybe? Something went wrong with their software installed on my computer so it never gave me ads the last few months before they closed, lol.

Burgers are better at Hungry Jacks…

Just smashed a whopper with cheese meal with a side of onion rings and it went down mint.

  • I always feel sad for those in the maccas/kfc/whatever drive through line during the dinner rush. Poor choices and poor outcomes and inevitably long term pain. Neg away

  • "Back in my day", I remember when the cheeseburger was $1.05 and the Junior Burger was $0.95

    • And a house on 1/4 acre block in Sydney was only $80,000.

  • With the exception of the dollar menu individual items at McDonalds have always been ripoffs though.

  • For me OP I don't care what RRP they put on their items . Only app deals and get fat Nov I'm interested in their offerings :)
I nearly forgot some of the value range offerings are good too .

  • The nuggets price are the biggest rort (unless you get the 24 pack).

    • $11.95 for the 24 pack aty local……😏

    • +1

Yeah holy f*** I just paid $7.90 for 6 nugs yesterday. I didn't look at the price when ordering because it was such a small order but when I saw the receipt I couldn't believe it. More than a $1.32 per nugget!! $1.32 every mouthful!! First and last time they get me with that crap.

      • yep. Sometimes my kid just wants 6 nuggets, and I feel so dirty paying 6. He wont eat more than 6, so 24 is a waste of food and money (I have wheat allergy, so can't have the nuggets). It truly sucks.

  • People are still buying too. Most of my Doordash deliveries consist of meals which people then add additional cheeseburgers on to.

  • Ripoff. Junk food anyway

  • Why the hell are the hamburgers $2.00 during the day and $3.80 after Midnight. Also some places have them $2 whenever and other places $3.85 during the day?

  • Does seem a little on pricey side for four bites of food.
