Could NOT get Lazzio (Aldi) coffee beans in SE Melb, so I had to go looking for an alternative coffee fix. Amazon is always a good start….

  • very nice product tiers…

Smooth > Strong > Very Strong

No idea what they taste like!

Great ratings and price so going to give it a go. I used to live at the roastery at Concord in NSW so willing to give it a go.

    • Can't go wrong at those prices.

We found somewhere between strong & extra strong was perfect… so we mixed 50/50.

  • +4

this was $9 June last year,, surely inflation has done a lot in the past days

    • That's old story before the interest rate went crazy! Better stock up now before I could afford it.

      • But 50+% inflation?

  • is aldi dark roast superior in taste? or just different

    • Was too dark for me and didn't enjoy it, gave my bag away. I am keen to try the medium and see how that goes

    • Quite similar to "very strong", imo.The Maccona Barista Reserve range is also $17/kg for those "oficianados" out there

      • +1

        You mean “aficionados”

        • +2

Cheap coffee will do that to you.

    • +1

We like strong/dark roast but the Aldi where to dark for us, the medium too light. So now we buy a bag of both, mix them and bag them up in 250g lots, keeping them in the freezer. Working well.

  • +3

Aldi Lazzio Dark Roast 1KG still $11.99.

    • +6

Can't get it and can't find out why for the last week

      • Bummer, that's strange because there's heaps at my local store in Sydney.

      • +2

shelves at my local one (Dandenong VIC) have some Dark roast, but not as much as usual, the roast date was fresh (less than two weeks ago). There was not medium roast, but was Brazil.

      • +1

Also couldn't find them at 2 different stores in VIC.

      • +1

You can buy Coles Urban Coffee Culture beans which are much better than Harris and cost only $12 p/kg.

      • Is it good? Normally I get the strong Harris, but willing to try it (I’m Sydney and hopefully I’ll find it here).

    • Aldi Lazzio Dark Roast is a blend of robusta/arabica, whereas this is 100% arabica.

      • +1

That's a positive. The blend of Robusta and Arabica is tastier as Robusta adds a bit of earthiness to the flavour.

        • +3

Nescafe blend 43 is exactly that, a popular combination of Robusta and Arabica beans.

Don't shoot me for mentioning instant coffee.

There's a time and place for instant and a quick fix

      • +1

        I didn't realise that.

  • +1

Does anyone know if roasted date or best before date is printed on these bags? Cheers

    • +1

BB is printed on them - no roasting date.

    • +1

Best before is well over a year. I got some 2 months ago with best before date of Aug 2024

    • I think it is more important to know the roasted date rather than best before date.
If the best before date is 27/04/2023 and the roasted date is 27/04/2022, then it's not fresh coffee at all.
You definitely want coffee beans roasted no more than 1 month old.

  • It’s a prime exclusive price so different price ($26 / $23.40 S&S) if not a prime member.

  • +1

I've had these from Amazon twice before when the price dropped. The Best Before date was just a few months out, suggesting they were shipping old stock.

  • +2

Coles Urban Coffee Culture beans are much better and cost only $12 p/kg

    • $35 per kg bag at our Coles today. When are they $12?

Edit. Oops sorry. They are $12, I was thinking Daley St beans.

    • Do you know if these are a mix of Robusta and arabica?

    • Urban Dark or medium?

    • +1

I've been buying the Urban Coffee Culture ground coffee for my Mokapot lately and thoroughly enjoying it, especially for the price!

    • +1

Are you mad?? They smell foul! I had to put myself through a whole kilo of it just bc I hate throwing food away (I could only drink it with milk and sugar or Stevia/erythritol).

  • Not to my tastes, fine when made weak but at full strength taste was unbearable in a short black compared to my regular Aldi Coffee, if I have a weak long black no issues so would buy again when on special / cheaper then Aldi

  • +1

Great coffee for the price. I always buy this on special. thanks OP

  • Is this for Amazon Prime members only?

    • I just discovered they gave me a free trial again..

Finay used up my $14 amazon gift card …

And just realised I could have got the $10 bonus from Cashrewards..I think.. Bum..

  • +1

    I dont have Prime.

Is this matching any local colesworths?

Also, anyone confirm is the extra strong tastes anyrhing like dark choc/ caramel as per the tasting notes?

Cant stand the floral, citrus, clove, berry coffees

    • send me some money i will buy for you

      • +1

I will pay via PayID and send my brother around to collect….

        • Cash-No
          No-Cash

  • I tried the strong one. Very little crema. Not on my list any more.

    • What's a reasonable price one that has good crema? Keen to try & see the difference.

  • +1

Did someone buy all the Aldi coffee? I couldn't find a single bag around my area.

    • same here :S
      what's going on??

      • +1

        from Aldi…
"We can confirm that this product is temporarily unavailable from our range, and we don't have an estimated time for when it will become available again. Please monitor the stock in store, as this will be the best indication of when it will become available".

        Not particularly enlightening :)

  • Thanks OP. I got one

  • can anyone confirm that with Amazon subscriptions that when the second order is billed to you, that the price is the current price and not the price of the original subscription?

    • I can confirm that S&S orders are are charged at price current when your order is processed. To get the "special" price, you need to add it as a S&S order and check out with the default delivery date; i.e. if you change the 'First delivery' date to coincide with your next S&S delivery, you will not get the discounted price unless the special is still active.

      • Agreed, and it's a bit of a shock when it happens. But notification is sent when the next order is initiated so there is time to cancel.

Except bog rolls, it seems. The S&S rolls we've had on order for 18 months are still coming in at the original special price. Weird.

  • I usually get the ground strong Harris for my moka. I like it, especially when on offer. I think I paid around $12 last time with no prime.

  • I paid $7 for 500g at Spar a couple of months ago. Had to buy grounded bc the grinder broke. The texture was weird; sorta fluffy, instead of powdery (besides the nagging suspicion that I was drinking 10% ground cockroach brew).

  • so interesting hearing everyone's differing tastes. I've been cycling roasters this past year and Harris smooth are probably my favourite under $30.

  • Just got my order. BB August 2023. so….a bit short. but I donno how long they are set from roasting date

  • This deal is still on (Prime members only)
