  • For me Shows $377.40 delievered

  • I'm tempted as most of my appliance are Breville and I like their stuff. We currently have an Anko one and it doe the job. Is this worth the trade up? can you put more than one shelf in at a time?

I have the non-air fryer version. Ours is used every day, from toasting to oven baked meals.
Elements heat unevenly (front right corner always much hotter than the rest) and like many others, the convection fan stopped working (which I would hope isn't going to be the same for this model otherwise wont be much of an air fryer).
Looks nice, but wouldn't buy again unless it was much cheaper.
From what I recall the AU version has less features than the US one also.

The appliance formerly known as a toaster oven.

Had 2 of those - both died. Fan seizes up and dealing with Breville support is like negotiating with a pitbull.

  • Cost 3x more expensive than instantpot?

    • Yes, but only a fraction of a Tesla Model 3.

  • +2

Yeah I have the model without the air frying and like most the fan has seized up. I'm pretty sure is due to the grease built up around the fan, and there's no real way to clean the fan area without completely taking the thing apart, which is way too much hassle.

    • +1

I tried to take it apart once, it's not a really readily serviceable item. From memory I couldn't get to the fan without having to drill out rivets etc, like you say too much hassle.

The thing is the fan isn't seized, it will spin freely if I turn the blades through the grill on the inside. Once or twice I've actually seen it start spinning again too.

I'm thinking it's worn out brushes or something.

  • Unless you are sure that breville has addressed the design flaw with the fan, stay away.

  • Shows up as $499 for me

  • The fan on this model has been updated/upgraded compared to the old model.

On normal mode the fan is very quiet and smooth but in air fryer mode it really spools up to high RPM.
Not really that impressed with the air frying compared to just using it like a regular convection oven.

    • Is there any info about this fan update ?

  • +1

Thanks purchased before the price revert back, checked there are many (thousands) of good reviews.

  • I have used this model for about 4 years. Gets daily use and hasn't missed a beat. It's my favourite kitchen appliance (Thermomix is a close second). My only complaint is it's a c#&t of a thing to clean. PS, cooks pork belly to perfection every time.

    • Got a Ninja Foodi Grill recently and it's fast become my favourite kitchen appliance. Cooked porchetta in it and did an even better job than we got with the Smart Oven, faster too.

      • apple and oranges, does it bake a cake or roast a whole chicken?

        • Yep (though haven't tried yet)

    • How often do you air fry and does the fan still work properly?

    • Do you roast or air fry pork belly?

  • These have great reviews! Can you defrost frozen meat etc & heat something up quickly like a normal microwave ?

    • No, this isn't a microwave oven. It toasts things.
