    1. Good specifications, but you should consider the Nexus 7 Tablet as an alternative to the Tab 2.

    2. OK for the money… according to reviews anyway. It's the cheapest 10 inch tablet you can buy in Australian market, but there are lots of dual core tablets within $200 if you look at Chinese tablet websites.
The performance isn't crash hot compared to a lot of other tablets within its price range since it is only a single core tablet. The screen resolution is also fairly low.

    3. Main downside is the low resolution screen (480x800). It's a very basic tablet. A better alternative is the sub $100 Ainol Novo 7 Mars tablet, which boasts better screen and a faster Mali 400 GPU.

    4. Not sure about this one. The Blackberry Playbook has the ability to run some Android applications, but it itself does not run the Android operating system. Expect a level of tech-savvyness to make full use of this device.

    5. Toshiba tab — not exactly good reviews and the tab is also clunky and heavy. Lenovo TAb is better.

    6. Refurbished item and it costs $299. Silly pricing, avoid.

    7. Good deal if you can get the powerbuy cashback.

Also check out the AussiePad 10" (16GB) which features a quad core processor.

    Alternatives:

$100 Novo 7 Mars tablet if you want a good value-for-money tablet, for basic web browsing and such.

$124Novo 7 ELF II tablet if you want something similar, but with dual core for gaming. (RECOMMENDED)

$250 Nexus 7 tablet if you want the best performing tablet in a 7" size with long battery life. (RECOMMENDED)

$155 Ampe A10 tablet if you want a good value 10" tablet

$198 Kogan Agora 10" if you want Australian warranty and not neccessarily the best tablet.

    • thanks so much….

    • How about these 2?

      $116.99 - Ramos W19 V2.0 Tablet PC Android 4.0.3 Cortex A9 Dual Camera 8GB
      http://www.pandawill.com/ramos-w19-v20-tablet-pc-android-403…

$120.99 - Ainol Novo 7 Elf Ⅱ Android 4.0 Tablet PC HD Screen 7 Inch 8GB 1GB RAM Camera White
      http://www.pandawill.com/ainol-novo-7-elf-android-40-tablet-…

      • Novo 7 Elf2 is good.

The Ramos W19 only has 512MB of RAM, which can be an issue for multitasking. It's also single core, clocked at 800mhz.

The Novo Elf II will perform 2x better than the Ramos W19, since it has a dual core, 1GB of RAM and a better Mali 400 GPU.

The Novo 7 Aurora II has identical specifications to the Elf II. The only difference is the IPS screen, which will give better viewing angles and have slightly better colour accuracy.

      • you might wanna consider this one as well:
        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/75742

        • it's on my list… "scrimshaw" mentioned that the Novo 7 Aurora II has identical specifications to the Elf II. The only difference is the IPS screen, but $20 cheaper

    • thanks… but why will I pay for Chinese Tablet at these price when Branded Lenovo is just $190 AUD??

  • update:
    http://www.wetechglobal.com/teclast-a10-97-5-points-rockchip…

is cheaper for the first link i put.

Thanks scrimshaw for the website. They are quite cheap.

    • nvm, their shipping is expensive.

    • thanks… but why will I pay for Chinese Tablet at these price when Branded Lenovo is just $190 AUD??

      • That is if you can get it for $190 now because they have been sold at special clearance prices. Rumour says Google may release a Nexus 10 which has 10" screen for $50 bucks more than the current Nexus 7 (so roughly $349). Also, the Ipad mini and Kindle fire 2 are on the way at compatitive prices. If I were you, I would wait for another 6 months to see that happen. At the very least, I reckon the price of Quad core tablets will become today's dual core tablet's price in 6 months or so.

        • I bought the deal from DealsDirect 30% off for $244.96 + $14.95 = $259.91
(I chose B-Pay for payment methods which have extra 5 days to think before paying)

after $70 Cashback should be $189.91, but seems not a bargain cause some others bought it for $199.5 ($129.5 after $70 Cashback)

          http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/lenovo-thinkpad-10-1-16gb-bt…

        • Right, the 2xlevono tab for $399 offer at centrecom along with $70 each from powerbuy a while ago. Unfortunately, it has been expired. Anyways, $189.91 is still a very good deal if you ask me. If you don't like it, just sell it on Ebay when the newer tablets come out. For me, I just can't bare with the look of the levono tablet :P

  • I wouldn't buy a non branded tablet to be honest.

    Also, consider things like:

    • does it use a propietary usb plugin?
    • how does it charge?
    • does it have a micro sd card slot?
    • does it have a usb port?
  • DONT TOUCH THE KOGAN AGORA
slowest tablet i have ever touched.
Irresponsive, huge lag, apps always crash.
    Returning mine today

    • Not surprised. It's using a single core CPU, which is quite old. Not very good performance wise.

  • apparently there is a new Ainol Aurora coming out ?

    • +1

      This one?

Ainol will launch Ainol Novo 7 Fire, a dual core tablet comes with 1280x800 resolution, 5M pixel back camera and magnalium metal back cover. Ainol Novo 7 Fire will be the best Ainol tablet once it is launched. Some sources named Ainol Novo 7 Fire as 'Ainol Novo 7 Flame' or 'Ainol Novo 7 Burning'.

      http://www.ainolstore.com/ainol-novo-7-fire-flame-dual-core-…

      • Yeah that one, might come out same time as ipad mini next month.

  • I heard Ainol Burning will come out mid of this month. You can pre-order now.

    • Ainol burning…. who thinks of these names?

      hahahahahahahaaha

      • +2

Looking at how many people actually recommend those Ainol tablets, I'll say they've actually done a pretty good job getting people to remember their name :)

Back to the new Ainol — looks like it would still be AMLogic AML8726-MX, i.e. the same CPU now driving a higher resolution display. That still rocks most last year's Tegra2 though.

        Other Chinese tab to look at with RK3066 dual cores — Cube Mini U30GT (7" IPS, 1GB/16GB — ~USD$170) and Window N70 (7" IPS, 1GB/8GB — ~USD$137).

        • Still keen on this new one, with the 5000mah battery!

I assume first to sell/have in stock will be China based websites, no one locally?

        • @mushmush — you don't happen to be affiliated with that shop, do you? :)

As of "risk of Chinese warranty", I wonder how whatsnewtablet manage their own warranty, if they are only a "reseller". Besides,

          • 7" 800x480 tablet for $130?! Ainol Novo7 Elf II is probably better than this in every aspect and cheaper too.
          • 10" RK3066 based tablet for $290?! Cube U30GT has identical spec for $190 delivered.
          • These tablets are about as no-name-brand as Ainol or Cube. Even more so some might argue.

  • Don't get the Coles PendoPad, it can't even access the Google Play store and Google apps. Piece of rubbish, really. http://androidaustralia.com.au/2012/08/other-news/coles-mobi…

  • i would go to either samsung tab 2 or nexus 7. i wouldnt want to anywhere near non branded ones.
    quality?
    design finishing?
    warranty?
