  • Im not sure if its the lebara APN or Telstra in my area but the 4g speeds are terrible. At home, 10mb. In the city 2mb. As its $1, i can live with it but not fast speeds at all. I am using a POCO x3

    • Edit. I ran a speed test this morning and speeds were through the roof. There must be network congestion near work and at home.

    Tried to activate my SIM. Failed to port in my number. Have contact them via web chat. I was told it would "2.5 business hours". It is 5:30 Friday now. Not sure if this mean I have to wait till Monday now.

    Their activating website is terrible.

    • yeah i had similar issues - i activated and went through the porting process but helpdesk are pretty useless so i now have a new number instead of a ported number

      • Did your issue get resolved ?. I am experiencing the same issue (failed port-in) and have a new number instead of the ported number and they have tried to manually port again and asked me to wait "2.5 business hours".

        • i was getting nowhere with their helpdesk who were saying I cant activate my sim and port in at the same time - which is weird since when I went through the activation process, there was a page to enter your port in details and go through the OTP process

          So Im no longer going to port my number in and using it for a different device

    Anyone got slow internet?

    Got the sim and activated but the speed is 200kb/s max, nearly impossible for videos.

    • I got 5.12 Mbps download. 3.61Mbps upload. Seems slow but not as slow as yours.

      • Mine is pretty stable.
        0.72Mbps download, 2.7Mbps upload.

    Speeds are too slow, borderline bearable. For $3 month it's ok, but I don't know how they expect to retain customers with this level of service.

    Are most people having issues with the porting ?. I will be porting the number tomorrow and hoping all goes well.

    • I was able to port in today. You have to activate your sim first (get a completely different number), then bring your number over using the website. Was quite painful but I did it. The speed is super slow though, I can only play 480p max on youtube, 720p and there will be bufferring. Speed test at the moment is below 1Mbit/s download, which is around 120KB. I haven't experienced speed this slow since 2009.

      • Thanks for your reply. Did the porting take long ?. Do we have to activate our plan via 116PIN number# after the number has been ported or when the intermediate number is active ?.

        It appears that speeds are an issue for other people as well.

          The porting takes around 1 hour for me. I read on the FAQ of the website that the 116 pin can be activated before porting, but i didn't take any risk and waited until my number was ported. Check *132# to see your number. I took my sim card tray out once in a while to make sure it resets.

    The worst experience I ever had with registering. Time spent, even if successfully (which is not the case so far), not worth it. Stay away from Lyca Mobyle.

    "80GB + 80GB bonus (Activation bonus data Only for First month to New Customers)"

    Does that mean month 1 you get 160GB, but month 2 and 3 you only get 80GB?

      I think so yes but at 1Mbps you won't even be able to use the whole 80GB, so don't you worry.

  • Can anyone comment on how exactly the plan renews? I can only see options to add minimum $10 credit. Will it auto debit my card at $1 next month? Quite confusing, and as others have said, slow.

      At the top the category says: "Mobile | Prepaid Mobile Plan" and the title contains: *$3… first 3 months… 4th month charged full price…"

      Prepaid means you pay before each month of service starts, postpaid after it has been used.

      So you must enter payment details upon signup, then they auto-debit at the start of each month, and again at the start of month 4 - unless you remove your payment details after month 3 is debited (or, a few days before month 4 will be charged). So if you want it to continue into month 4 you just leave your payment details intact.

      I haven't signed up but I assume the add credit is for if you run out of data or international call credit, so want to top those up a bit so you can use them instead of waiting for the next month to start/renew.

    Received my sim today.

    Trying to activate it with a driver licence as ID, but the 'card number' field is required. I don't have a card number on my licence as I wasn't affected by the Optus breach.

    Struggled for port in.
    Says 4g but runs like 3g.

    • Looks like any people reporting that MMS is not supported.
      Btw, were you able to port an existing number successfully?

      • Somewhat. Porting was done successfully in the end, however had to go through support as it would not allow me to do it automatically. Honestly, Lyca network is appalling without the discount.

        If you have another friend/family, get them to call you and don't pick up. For some reason, if you miss the call, it beeps and tells the other person "Welcome to lyca mobile". This is what everyone who calls you will hear…….

  • My first month has finished. I thought it's auto recharge. But now it's saying you don't have credit. How do I recharge? I don't see any $1 recharge now.

    • Similar to me but mine never worked from the start, just got a recorded message saying I don't have enough credit, WTF!!!

      Lucky I didn't port my main number. Emailed them to cancel my account yesterday but no reply yet.

    I think I am the only guy who had a real problem here.

    I ported in my main number and after the port, I cannot receive a call or sms. It is weird that I can make a call and send a sms. but I just could not receive anything. I cannot receive OTP either from the bank or others.

    I have reached out the online chat twice and their support line once but after 48 hours, the problem is still existing.

    Even I want to port out the number, I cannot receive the OTP requested by other carriers. Please share any carriers that they do not need the OTP to verity the number. TIA. I just want to leave this telco as soon as possible.

  • Was about to go with the XS plan and noticed it states "Offer ends on 31st May 2023" (https://www.lycamobile.com.au/checkout), so maybe they have extended the promo?

    Or it could be in regards to the 20GB bonus data (for this plan), not too sure.
