Kayo Removing Annual Subscriptions in 2023

I just received the email this morning:

We will be retiring our annual subscriptions in 2023. You will be able to continue accessing your favourite Kayo content until your current annual subscription offer ends.

There is no action required by you. After your current annual subscription offer ends, you will automatically move to our monthly package, Kayo Basic, and you will be charged the standard monthly subscription fee of $30 per month on an ongoing basis, unless you cancel your subscription. If you cancel more than one month prior to your offer end date, you will forfeit the remainder of your annual subscription offer period.

This is pretty lame. I enjoy a bit of Kayo content here and there but definitely not enough to justify $30 p/m (currently paying $200 annually).

Are the days of decent Kayo deals over?

    You can get a basic sub for around $220 annually through a few AFL teams: Western Bulldogs or North Melbourne.

    You can also check the classifieds on here. Lots of single screen spots going for $110 to $140 annually.

      According to their email, they're removing the annual subs.

        Yeah I read your quote.

        Annual subs are still available via AFL Teams.

        As far as OzB classifieds go I’m not sure if those people are buying annually or monthly but almost all of them are selling it annually.

    Keep doing this and you will lose subscribers surely. I wanted to watch F1 this morning damn replay didn't work . Just stuck . Back to old days I guess . Too much money wasted on so many services .

      Do you mean live or delayed? I was suprised the replay stream started at the start of the race. I accidentally fast forwarded to half way through the race thinking it would have its usual hour plus intro.

        Delayed race . I have Fire TV Stick which doesn't support official kayo app but I managed to sideload the app . It works fine just for some weird reason F1 videos are not displaying at all . In the past it worked fine .

      Kayo sucks for f1. Glitchy and freezes. Just find a good torrent and enjoy it without frustration.

      F1 this morning damn replay didn't work . Just stuck

      Had the same issue with qualifying..would work fine on mobile but just froze running on android tv app.
      They are suppose to make it less friction than piracy:/

    I am also hanging out for a deal, there used to be telstra deals but those look to have gone. The only thing I use it for is f1.

    $200 was very cheap for a year considering Kayo Basic has gone from $25 per month to $30 in the last year.

    I'm surprised they are getting rid of the option entirely, but if they had kept it you would have faced a large price increase.

    Im betting they have their eye close on Netflix with account sharing. Guess that will be the next thing they try shut down. If they do can see them struggling as its already way to expensive.
