Ubank and scheduled payments not firing

Is anybody having problems with the 'new' Ubank not paying scheduled payments on time?

I'm pretty sure that I set the payment to be on a Thursday or Friday, as I have a credit card payment due on the Tuesday. The old Ubank didn't schedule payments over the weekend.

Logged in on the weekend, the payment was saying scheduled for that day.
Logged in on Monday, the payment said it was scheduled for that day, but it may happen any time during the day.

It was almost 11.30pm at night and it still hasn't transferred.

I ended up making a manual payment, as I was worried that I was going to cop late fees on my Bankwest credit card.

This is the second time it seems to have failed. The last time I had scheduled a payment from the old credit card. I found out that it silently failed, as the auto-sweep function was silently removed.

Are some people having problems with schedule payments?
Otherwise, is there another high interest paying bank account these days?

Too many oddities with the new 86400 / Ubank application.

I schedule all my payments 1 day before they're due. So far all have gone through. Perhaps your payments happened at one of the countless times' internet/app banking has been down?

  • It was almost 11.30pm at night and it still hasn't transferred.

Pretty sure all transfers (irrespective of bank) happen at (or after) mid-night on the day scheduled :/

So a payment scheduled for the 1st, happens at mid-night on the 1st - meaning it isn't seen until the 2nd …

  • Mine have been fine so far - they go off at some point during the day I scheduled them to.

I never trust scheduled payments, I pay all my bills manually the day they come in.

  • Since migrating to 'new' ubank, I have had three scheduled payments fail without any notification. Some were BPAY and others transfers. I only realised when I got a late fee from a biller.

    • Same, I just got charged a late fee plus interest!
Multiple payments not going through. Zero errors or evidence that I scheduled them (which I definitely did).

      What is going on?

  • check that you have the funds in the account selected for the payment, ie. ubank default payment is from the transaction account, if you keep the funds in the saver account it doesn't/can't pay. ensure you select the saver as the payment account on the schedule.

    • I never had to worry about that. It used to "sweep".

They also seem to impose a $10k limit which I'm sure wasn't there before.

    Found the culprit: https://www.ubank.com.au/help/original/upgrade/product-featu…

A rather important feature which they didn't make very clear they were cancelling. So they didn't fire because of lack of funds.

    • yes, you're right they kept this very quiet. Apparently it's being brought back - but honestly at present I'm very underwhelmed with all aspects of my banking experience with Ubank.

Only laze and hoping they sort it out ASAP is keeping me from moving to Macquarie.

Yeah, I was shocked about being told about the new account numbers without notice or indication whether there would be a grace period on the old ones. Whoever is on charge of change management there (probably no one?!) should be fired.

I've been with them since 2012 and this is the 2nd time they've changed with BSBs and account numbers - which is a major PITA! Never had another bank even do this a single time, let alone twice.

Hopefully they get things back under control as I feel at present they've overwhelmed with their 'upgrades' which if you're not doing all banking via their app, doesn't deliver a huge number of benefits - other than bringing them vaguely to to what all their peers have had for 5yrs+.

  • I've had 2 direct debits from Amex rejected by ubank even though the account details have been updated and there's plenty funds.
Called ubank and they have no explanation except to ask me to check with Amex… not happy with their system and poor service.
