Anyone Successfully Tried Superloop "SpeedBoost" Feature?

Should be available for all customer post 6th Feb 2023. (depend on your current speed and nbn type as well).

I tried to activate it, but could not see any (visible) change.
I restart my router as well.

PS: I'm on the 50/20Mb plan (FTTN) and speedboost should activate after 15-30 minute for 24 hours and offer the next tier, here 100/40Mb.

I ran a few different speedtest, wired and wifi, and could only reach 52/27, while before I was around 51/22-ish.

Chat with support, first answer was: your copper might have reach its maximum speed, you may not get any faster.

Still wondering if this is true, or if there are some issue enabling this feature.

Anyone tried it successfully?

Had been advised of the same speed limitation for my partner's property on an FTTN connection that the copper was still the bottleneck. It is what it is until they were able to fortunately perform the free upgrade to FTTC/FTTP (Link: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/690035). Everything running smoothly and at maximum speeds on the 100/20 plan we're on.

    • THanks,

is there a tool / website that can tell what is the maximum speed capacity of my copper pair? I have FFTN, 50/20Mb plan.

I guess one way would be to take the 100/40 or higher plan for a month and see if speeds improve.

      • As well as the speedtest.net results we had, our ISP at the time (can't remember if it was Kogan or Telstra) had actually sent us a letter informing us that we could not reach the speeds that we were paying for and that we'd be downgraded accordingly.

      • Yes, there is an nbn tool that the support staff can look up. It will advise the speed capabilities of your copper line. I would suggest you use the Superloop ZTE H1600 model to ensure best possible service compatibility/speed/support.

  • What is the max speed you have ever had? It could be you are at the max your infrastructure is capable of, particularly if you are using FTTN. Although it is suspect that you are maxing our your current speed tier and saw no improvement at all. If your before-boost-speed was say 41mbps, then I wouldn't expect an increase when boosting.

    • just moved in and had to activate the line through a NBN technician.

I took the 50/20Mb plan, so I got 48-52Mb up depending of time of day, and 19-21up.

When I activated the boost I got 52 down and up to 27Mb UP. So maybe there is a limitation

I use Exetel(same company as SL) with FTTP with 100/20 plan, speed boost works to 250/25, speed test shows good result, so is steam download.

Just to add: x86 Router with Dual Gigabit Intel Gigabit NIC + Huawei AX3 Pro as AP, as long as FTTP does what it supposed to do, there's no bottleneck on my end.

I do observe the boost kick in after 5~10mins, and about exactly when 24 hour pass when the boost finish I see internet fluctuate, and I may drop out from my game for a brief moment.

Im on hfc, but might be worth restarting your nbn box as well as your router. I found that helped with exetel speed boost.

I then found my internet cut out at the end of the speed boost and needed another nbn box reboot, so didnt use it again.

Just realised on fttn your nbn box is your vdsl modem, so im guessing thats the router you reset

  • Didn't work for me internet would die off completely whenever I boosted from 50- to 100.. had almost a month of speed boost too. I jumped ship after that bs

    • with Superloop??? they just enabled it from Feb 6th.

  • Is it like Vtec ?
