    From the previous deal

Did a mock online order to confirm it worked and also you can buy more than 1:

Woohoo, all the coconut blocks belong to us

  • +1

  • Thanks op.

    Thanks op

Is a slow death preferable to a quick one? What has this got to do with chocolate? I’m glad you asked…

Everything in moderation. Except this is OzBargain, so nothing in moderation. Live hard, die young

  • Peanut butter block stil OOS :(

  • How many did Coles order ? I have 11 flavours available but are out with my 13 blocks last week .

  • +2

I bought some and thought it tasted different. Caramel block had white bloom all over it too, from 2 separate stores. Not as good as it used to be and too sweet really..

Yes, I imagine they’re discounting this stuff to shift stock off the shelves. It’s pretty nasty stuff, but hopefully the discount Coles is offering can finally get rid of it. Sadly, the previous week of discounting wasn’t really enough to make a dent in the glut of old stock

    • I bought old chocolate from a discount store a few years ago that was partly covered in white stuff. It was so bad I threw it out. Is this the same as the white bloom you found?

      • Yep same stuff

        • Thanks, I'll be sure to check if I buy one tomorrow. :)

  • I got some last time, only tried the berry forest so far. It isn't choc and fruit, it is choc and some vaguely flavoured gum. What am I supposed to do with gum? chew it like it is food? wait and wait until it dissolves with no sensory or nutritional benefit. I've decided they are best disposed of, what bin though?

    • +5

i dunno what chocolate you've been buying, but the creamy milk block has all the nutritional benefits i need. Dairy - TICK, Soy (Soybeans are vegetables) -TICK, Cocoa (pretty sure at one point it was a fruit) - TICK!

      See? - its healthy!

    • +1

Yes, the “flavours” are the really nasty ones — stick to plain chocolate if you can!

    • +2

It's those weird chewy jellies, which IMO shouldn't be in chocolate. Berry Forest without the berry would be great actually.

    • +3

Lol, I don't think people are buying chocolate for it's nutritional benefits mate.

But I for one love the berry forest. Kinda reminds me of those Cadbury marvelous Creation blocks a while back.

  • Also a decent deal on Herbert Adams pies - on special for $7.50 and $2 off for flybuys members. Cheapest they've been in a long while. I got 4 boxes.

  • Coles via Doordash had only had Mushroom Beef Herbert Adams Double pack pies at $4 last week . After Double Stacking got them down to about $2.50 each .

    • How do you stack flybuys on doordash?

  • Does this work if bought in store?

    • +1

Yes. But be sure to scan your Flybuys card

  • which one is good? might try the hokey pokey

Coles has hit record high profits and margins. Now offers a discount on a discretionary choccie. The equivalent of throwing a bone to the masses. Let’s start by reigning in the price hikes they have preconditioned people to, instead of always pointing to “muh inflation”as an excuse.

    • +4

Some sage advice by a reputable news source.

    • It doesnt have either record profits or record margins, but apart from that you are almost correct.

        • -2

'surges' does not equal 'record' (and 'surges' is just an emotive term for 'increased')

and off a low base due to COVID costs, the elimination of which accounted for more than the growth in Coles' entire profit across all its divisions (decrease in COVID costs of $130m, increase in profit of $104m. Which is not just food)

Its all in the article you linked - I assume you linked it to provide supporting evidence for my comment, so thanks

          • @dtc: Valiant effort in logical arguments in an emotive subject. But you will never win or change minds, society is angry at loss of purchasing power and turn to easy targets, justified or not.

I won't bother trying, but I'll applaud your futile efforts.

  • My memory of Whittaker's was that it wasn't that good but giving them a second chance and giving the Dark Ghana 72% a try I was quite happy with it. Would be better if it was cheaper though. The cheapest Aldi chocolate is $1.99 for 180g. Tastes better to me than the Coles equivalent if I recall correctly though both claim to be made in Belgium. You can get used to crappy chocolate if you keep on eating the same brand. That's my story. The Whittaker's was nice from the first bite and I found I was satisfied with eating less of it. I'm happy to eat decent, i.e. not compound, cooking chocolate. I'd rather eat Nestle Dark 70% Plaistowe than Cadbury's Old Gold but the cheaper deals for the former seem rarer and shrinkflation eventually hit it. On a tangential note, does anyone make Chocolate Honeycomb with proper chocolate though I'm not sure you'd notice given how sweet it is. Not even Violet Crumble. I'll still eat it though. I bought some Menz Bumbles Choc Honeycomb for less than half price from a local IGA not so long ago. My diabetic friend bought even more. BTW, is buying nuts encased in chocolate the cheapest way to buy nuts in small quantities?

Im getting some serious grampa simpson vibes from this comment.. Did you have an onion belt?

      • Of coarse they did. It was the style at the time.
