  • It isn‘t listed in the exclusions so is it safe to say that the M2 Macbook Pro is eligible for cashback?

    • +1

      That's correct :)

      • This is the deal I’ve been waiting for :)
iPhone 14 Pro and Apple Watch Hermès is included too!!!

        • Enjoy :)

        • I heard some negative reviews regarding the quality of watch strap, including leather peeling, discoloration, and difficulties with warranty claims from Hermès. At least it's the case in HK. Hope it's smoothier experience here.

        • +2

Isn’t this education store only? Edu store does not offer apple watch or iphone

        • iPhone 14 Pro and Apple Watch Hermès is included too!!!

Are you absolutely sure about this? These products don't have EDU-specific prices.

@I Smell Pennies Could you please clarify?

          Also: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13476469/redir

      • +1

        Am I dreaming?

This usually doesn't happen until much later in the year.

CR must have made a special deal with Apple.

        Thank you, OP.

        • +1

CR always have surprises. Enjoy :)

          • @I Smell Pennies: Can you confirm if only items showing on the education page are eligible like ipads and macs? Are phones, watches and tvs included? They don’t seem to belong in the edu site

          • @I Smell Pennies: Unlike SB that rarely track upsized cashback promotions of 20% and above. There's definitely no surprises there!

  • It's ineligible on EPP purchases (Employee Purchase Program), but is Apple on Campus (AOC) education store eligible for cashback?

    • EPP would easily trump this anyways.

      • +1

In the case of AOC, it offers an additional 3.65% discount compared to Education.
So, this deal still comes out ahead.

  • Cashback is eligible on purchases paid with gift cards.

How can you bypass this? really confused

    • +2

You just add the giftcard to your Apple account

    • +2

Why you want to bypass your eligiblity? First time I have seen somebody want to deliberately invalide his/her cashback. Please hand in your ozbargain badge at the door when you out.

      As you have already said:

Cashback is eligible on purchases paid with gift cards.

      • Sorry I read it as ineligible…as they are usually ineligible

        • Giftcard/account balance with Apple+Cashrewards is usually fine. But not always with other cashback site. It's definately worth checking it out. "The devil is in the details"

        • Redemption of GCs have always been eligible for CB with Apple / Edu.

  • +1

Is the 8% only for education store? Is the rate available for refurbished products? Thanks.

    • If you can find refurbished products while on the education store, I don't see why not?

  • +2

Nice to stack with the bonus Airpods deal too. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/goto/751788

    • Try to add Airpod to my Macbook purchase on Education Store site and all options are blanked out except "No, thanks"

Is it not applicable to purchase on Education store?

On the normal Apple site then it allows me to add Airpod fine.

      • I’ve just ordered a MBP on the EDU Store and added the free Airpods without issues. Did you go to the AOC site instead?

        • -1

          Edu site is https://www.apple.com/au_edu_5000447

Macbook Pro 14inch Pro is $2840.20 on Edu site.

Same item is $2959 on normal Apple store but can add Airpod for free.

          • @rabkoa: Actually if you follow the promotion link then it's $2959 for Macbook Pro 14 inch
            https://www.apple.com/au-hed/shop/buy-mac/macbook-pro

            Normal price is $3199

So i am not sure what this Edu site is https://www.apple.com/au_edu_5000447

but it's cheaper at $2840.20 for the Macbook itself without the Airpod.

            • @rabkoa:

So i am not sure what this Edu site is https://www.apple.com/au_edu_5000447

That is the link for the AOC (EPP) site. Also, the link you pasted above is broken since it is missing the /store suffix.
This would explain why you are not seeing the AirPods as an option.

          • @rabkoa: To be sure to get the cashback from this deal, it is advised that we click to the edu store as per the instruction found in the original post:

After clicking 'Shop Now', navigate via the Education link in Apple's footer menu before adding items to cart.

Which is this site https://www.apple.com/au-hed/store (after clicking via CR.)

I know it’s tempting to use other EDU site or even the AOC site as their prices are slightly cheaper, but if we want to be certain the cashback will go through then it’s better to use the au-hed site.

  • -2

Could someone please confirm if GST is excluded before cashback is calculated for Apple?

    • Yes, that’s how it was calculated for two purchases I made from Apple online in the past few months (tracked quickly but still waiting for the cash…), though I thought that was standard for cashback on anything(?), not just Apple.

  • +1

Is coles or woolies running promo for discounted apple gc. Not sure if OP is referring to prior campaigns.

Is there any other option to get discounted apple gc?

Planning to get m2 mac pro, every % counts as these machines are not cheap…

    • Not aware of a 10-15% deal that’s active but there are some smaller discounts listed on the gift card wiki you can check to see if any work for you.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/discounted_egift_cards#par…

    • Referring to previous deals from what I can tell e.g. 20x EDR points on Apple GC purchases @ Woolies = 10%. So if you stack the 10% with this 8% CB deal….

    • Not sure if OP is referring to prior campaigns.

Prior campaigns. Example: Apple $20 GC @ 15% off (upfront discount - no points BS) in February 2023.

  • New Mac Mini ineligible? Damn.

  • +4

Be careful with these Apple ‘Education’ offers. I found out the hard way last time that not everything available through the Edu store was included, only those items listed on the main page (i.e. https://www.apple.com/au-hed/store). That is, only specific Macs and iPads are included.

The listed exclusions confuses things as if an item doesn’t appear you assume it’s included, but that’s the list for 0% cashback, other things end up as the standard rate (1.5%).

    • so iPhone is not included ?

      • I would think not as they don't have a special / discounted price on the EDU store. Likewise for watches.

    • That is, only specific Macs and iPads are included.

So, refurbished macs may not track at 8% but rather 1.5%. Is this what you are saying?

What about if I followed the breadcrumbs from the main page, and spec-ed up at a custom 16" M2 MBP w/ 96GB RAM which costs ~ $6200, can I expect a CB of $450.91?

@minita Could you please help with what is included and excluded with this deal?

      • +1

That’s what I just bought but with a bigger HD. I’ll just return the MBP if the cashback didn’t track.

        • Couldn't justify the $500 jump for the 2TB HDD when I have barely used 50% of 1TB on my current mac.

I guess I will do the same as you. Request a cancellation if it doesn't track at the expected rate, and re-order using the AOC/EPP page.

          • +1

@DoctorCalculon: Yeh, diffrent people have different HDD usage. I need my laptop to have 2TB storage minimum. Would love to get 4TB but nah too expensive.

I will also re-order from AOC if this didn‘t track. I am also very tempted to order from AOC using this deal and see if it will track, but as this deal is Edu Store specific, it will most likely gets declined. If this deal was for both Apple and Edu store then I might give it a crack.

Regret for not stocking up on discounted giftcards earlier (given this deal only lasts for 24 hours), otherwise it will sweeten the deal more. Will try selling the free Airpods to get $100-$200 back.

            • @FrugalNotStingy:

I need my laptop to have 2TB storage minimum.

Just out of curiosity, what sort of stuff do you normally store?
With the TB4 ports on these newer macs, storing and accessing large VM images on an external TB4 drive is not much of an issue for me.

As this deal is Edu Store specific, it will most likely gets declined

Most likely it will track at the measly 1.5% rate.

              • +1

@DoctorCalculon: I usually store quite a number of large VMs (hence the RAM need) so that I can access them and make changes or debug upon client’s requests. I do have backups of them on externals and network drives but I rarely take my laptop out with an external drive fearing it might get lost and subsequently the files as I have confidentiality agreements with my clients (storing them on cloud is also out of the question). I also store CAD, GIS files and edit large 4K/ProRes videos.

The free airpods have shipped and got CR tracking email for them this morning. Waiting for the MBP to ship (ETA is Mar 21-22) and hope it gets tracked.

  • Awesome. Better than the SB deal from yesterday.
Ordered a M2 14" Pro and some suggested accessories during checkout - will be interested to see how those additional items track, since they were on the way out.
Interesting that Apple do not let you buy AppleCare during checkout these days (at least it only showed the complimentary 7 days and no option to buy)

  • Nobody thinks youre capping

  • Any idea if refurbished items from the edu store also get 8% cashback? Or are they at the 1.5%?

  • +2

M1 MacBook Air base model seems to be a good deal.

    • +1

      Bought base model M1 Macbook Air $1,349 - 10% GC - 10% TRS - 8% CR - $150 (Free Airpods 2nd) = ~$850, delivered before lunch time today.
Sold my old MBA (1 yr old same model) with new charger/cable for $900 just now.
Look at the smile on my face ^^

      • May I ask which platform do you use to sell your old MacBookAir?

        • +1

Just asked around in Facebook group.

  • Is there a limit on how many orders per account we can make with this, as long as we stay under the product cap??

  • Op mention some, "10-15% off Gift Cards". I can't seem to find any of those… was that a past deal?

Also, do anyone know if these deals typically cover third-party products, such as the LG Ultra Fine Display?

    Thanks

    • +1

Think cashback only covers items with edu exclusive price.
You can buy Apple education GC @ ~10% from OZB classified.

  • Just noticed link in cashrewards page is pointing to normal Apple Store. How to switch to EDU store and still have cashback tracked?

    • Go to footer and click on shop for university

      • Thanks, just found in the OP.

  • Apple site is really dumb. It insist to use whole giftcard balance and leave balance in my apple account.

  • Thanks, OP! I just ordered 14" Macbook Pro. I also ordered through the app - fingers crossed it gets tracked :D

  • Ordered a MacBook Air M2 with SSD upgrade, since this is custom upgrade anyone know how long Apple usually take to process/ship?

    • I got my custom order shipped from China, it arrived 8 days after ordering.

  • -1

Nice! Where can I find the Apple gift cards for 10-15% off? Can't seem to find any deals at my local ColesWorth.

  • Does anyone know if this would work on the NZ apple store also?

  • what happens if you do an order that does not get "processed tonight" - I have bought the laptop but it's custom - so they might not charge me until it's ready…
how do you make sure it's tracked?
do you have to make the claim manually?

    • as long as the order is placed(and paid) within the window, it should track.

      • but if apple dont "charge" me straight away - then does that mean i miss out?

        • No. The same thing happens with Amazon orders.
Amazon doesn't charge your card until they are about to ship.

The key criteria is the order timestamp.

  • did any1 get their orders tracked yet??

    • Not yet

    • mine just got tracked! rewards are still pending though. I received the confirmation + invoice from apple at 6pm today and should receive the product by Tuesday next week.

      • Mine got tracked, bt for a lesser amount!! The ipad was invoiced and sent last, and hence, seems to be missed out from tracking. :(

        • Similar issue here. Bought a custom config MBP with 'free' AirPods
AirPods in stock but have to wait a couple of weeks for the MBP
          Only the AirPods tracked

          • +2

@cytotoxic: TA has advised that cashback updates when the remaining orders ship, as per the terms in the OP. Cashback is based on what Apple reports to Cashrewards, not on what is scheduled to be sent. Please be patient. Thanks guys

          • @cytotoxic: Mine has now silently updated to include the MBP value too after being invoiced by Apple for the MBP

  • Ordered MBP plus Airpods Pro. My cash reward pending was $228 on Friday with an email confirmation about the tracking. Received another email this morning now the pending amount has changed to $29 (seems like just for the airpords). Anyone has similar issue?

    • i never got the macbook tracked - only the airpods??

      • On mine it got tracked when it was invoiced ( shipped )

        airpods got shipped and tracked
Then when the macbook shipped the macbook invoice amount replaced the airpods amount

        • Same. Got my cashback tracking email this morning two days after the order got shipped and with the correct 8% amount. Hope it gets approved on EST approval date. If not, I’ll pester TA!

          • @FrugalNotStingy: Same. There was no additional email from CR once the MacBook Pro shipped. Just a silent update.

            • @DoctorCalculon: I spent a good few hours today trying to get those 15% off Apple Gift Cards. I wish I had them when this deal was on.

              • @FrugalNotStingy: I wasted so much time in Dec 2022 buying Ultimate Home cards, and then converting them to Apple GCs in anticipation of the M2 MBP.
Those 15% off eGCs are so easy to purchase, and the deal is still going strong.

                • @DoctorCalculon: I wanted to buy more but they wouldn’t let me after 5 times. Asking friends and family to help me buy more.

  • Did anyone here who purchased a BTO MacBook via this deal manage to buy AppleCare+ at 20% off (outside the promo period)?
I was told they would take into account the shipping delays and the 7-day complementary AC+ period.
Ultimately, Apple Online did not honour the 20% discount on AC+.

    • I was planning to, but as you mentioned once the complementary cover ran out it was well past the promotion period due to the shipping delay.
I was thinking of talking to Apple Chat to see if they would honour the discount, but ultimately I decided not to get AC+ so haven't pursued the issue with Apple

      • I was thinking of talking to Apple Chat

First level support are completely hopeless. I got through to someone in the Sydney office after an hour of being on hold on and off.
The guy just apologised for the incorrect promises made by the call centre team.
