Belkin 3 in 1 Charger is back on sale at Amazon AU. Cheaper than previous deal $142.99 and a match for all-time cheapest $131.40. Free delivery.

My personal recommendation is to ask JB HiFi to price match based on link + description (black only) either online or in-store.

Doing so will get you the version JB HiFi stock which is WIZ017AU. Do your own research to understand the implication, Mac :)

I have mine on my bedside and I love it.

Works well with my iPhone 13 Pro with MagSafe case.

However, it doesn’t charge my S23U with MagSafe case for some reason. It shows wirelessly charging but the battery goes down and the back of my phone stays warm. Weird!

My other MagSafe wireless chargers work fine with my S23U though.

    • I don’t use MagSafe so just spitballing here - is it possible the ‘MagSafe’ ring isn’t aligned properly with the wireless charging sweet spot on the back of the Samsung?

      • I’m using a MagSafe case with built in magnets > UAG Monarch Pro, which they also make for iPhones.

I have two other brands of MagSafe chargers which the Samsung with the same MagSafe case attaches to fine and charges properly.

        • Tried taking off the case and seeing if the Sammy charges properly on it?

          • @andresampras: It won’t hold it as Samsungs don’t have built in magnets XD

            • @ozchobie: hold it up with your hands obviously. See if it even charges the samsung phone

              • +1

@TheBardsTale: Ok did some testing with the S23U!

For more accurate testing, i downloaded the Android app Ampere to accurately tell me the power going in to the device when charging.

I tested it with the magsafe case ON and OFF.

I also tested it with 3 magsafe wireless chargers in total: Belkin 3-in-1, Anker PowerWave 2-in-1 magsafe charger and a no-name magsafe puck that connects to USB-C.

Both the Anker and the generic puck charged the phone fine via Magsafe whether the case was on or off.

However, with the Belkin, it shows the wireless charging disconnecting after a few seconds and then reconnects and then disconnects again, which is probably causing the drain. This is with the case on and also with the case off.

I doubt that my Belkin charger is faulty as it charges my iPhone 13 Pro just fine.

It also seems like the case is not the issue as the disconnection happens even without it on.

So there's something with the Belkin causing it to not play well with non-iPhones it seems like it.

@ozchobie: Oh how interesting! Kudos for the write up, will help someone from stumbling into the same situation I’m sure.

See first review. Several other reviews elsewhere also say the MagSafe compatibility is subpar. Looks like your case may be the culprit unfortunately. Rates highly as a case in other aspects though.

Just a heads up, the WIZ017AU (latest model) is what you'd probably want if you have an iWatch 7+ for it's fast charge…

    • +2

True, but I got sick of waiting for a good price on the newer model.
I ended up buying this one last time Amazon had it on sale. Sits on my bedside and charges overnight, so fast charge isn’t really needed (so far).

    • Correct me if I'm wrong (anyone) but doesn't fast charge shorten battery life? Wouldn't it be better to use this slow charging Amazon model if you don't need the fast changing function?
I looked up battery replacement costs via Apple and it's $129 for a series 8 and $169 for an Ultra.
I'm also considering getting a MagSafe charger with fan like the ESR one, but I'm not sure if I'd want to hear the fan going overnight.

      • Regardless of whether it is a fast or normal charge, wireless charging can lead to a shortened battery life. But, life is short.

        • But Apple Watch only has option of wireless charge so… compare to slow vs fast wireless charging, sounds like an valid point to me if you don't need fast charge

          • @moonphase: Or choose the fast wireless charging to save time and have the battery replaced 3 years later. It's important to note that battery degradation is inevitable with both slow and fast wireless charging methods.

  • Been on the hunt for one for the missus for a while now, cheers!

  • Can you guys share how this is better than the sub $60 ones?

    • +1

The cheaper ones I’ve come across didn’t come with the power adapter. I wouldn’t say that’s true across the board but seemed common with others I was looking at.
With this there’s definitely the Belkin factor in the price, but that said I have one and am very happy with it.

    • I bought some $30 eBay ones as gifts. No complaints.

      • +2

Yea but who complains about a gift

        • +1

Everyone I know would mention if it's a rubbish product.

Using your logic you wouldn't know if the expensive charger was unsatisfactory either, as nobody would complain. Just anything that isn't a rip off right? Has to be crap because it's not a rip off

  • +8

Do your own research to understand the implication

Really don’t get this tbh. OP has gone to the effort to post this deal on ozbargain, and then has a secret implication? Not sure if there is need to hide information like this.

    • +17

Hi this is OP. Here’s your explainer then:

Only JB HiFi & Apple are selling the newer version WIZ017 which has faster charging on Apple Watch. This model has historically only been discounted to ~$180.

The Amazon model has the same description but if you look closer is actually model WIZ009 which is about two years old now.

Because it has the same description, looks the same etc it should go unnoticed if you matched.

FWIW I wanted to upload the JB HiFi receipt to the post but that would remove the Amazon link, so given the option it’s best to post the actual deal.

      • -2

JB Hifi spy here. Thanks for the alert!

        (No I’m not really)

        • +2

          Tough crowd…

        • No worries. I know it seems silly but I got the 3rd degree by the JB HiFi staff when I tried to get it in White instead of Black.

Btw you can price match at OW to get it down to $124.83 total but it will be the older WIZ009 model similar to Amazon.

So the better (secret) deal is the JB HiFi spec bump if you can for an extra $6.57

What's the best option for the Samsung eco system?

    • Also curious to know this

    • -3

      Move across to Apple ecosystem?

  • Would this charge wf1000xm4?

  • +1

Can’t rate this product highly enough. So good to be able to blindly whack phone on the magnet to charge. High quality.

  • Honestly it’s great but not $130 great if you can afford it go for gold if you’re questioning it skip it

  • +2

Good price, I got mine for $143 last year. I use this daily and could never imagine returning to bothering to plug a cable in anymore.

  • damn i paid 155 for it at JB months ago
the jb hifi model has faster charger for the watch

  • Any thoughts or suggestions on portable foldable 3 in 1 charges. I did try the amazon ones for $40 but barely reached half a charge over night on my watch and XR phone.

    • +1

I feel your pain. When people ask 'why buy the Belkin? they should read your post.

I've bought my share of AliExpress foldable charges but
      1. I've had two die on me due to the folding damaging the internal wiring
      2. As they are only ever 'Magsafe compatible' they usually reach only 7.5w and/or overheat and give up fast charging

So the best reliable foldable 3 in 1 charger I've seen is the Anker cube charger but it's sold out and not distributed in Australia AFAIK. Go for Official Magsafe and you'll get the guaranteed 15w without issue.

      • I read enough posts like this which led me to buy the Belkin and avoid all that mess with chargers which mysteriously fail to charge after half a year.

I'm still very pleased with the Belkin 3 in 1. It's amazing what a difference it makes to my evening charging routine… even if it's clearly an unnecessary purchase (vs just plugging in the cable).

  • It appears this is the old model that doesn’t have fast charging for Apple Watch 7.

    Model ‎WIZ009auBK-APL

Q: Is this item the new model of this product with fast charging for Apple Watch 7?

    Answer this question
A: Model numbers of this product:
WIZ009 - Is the old model
WIZ017 - Is the new model which also has fast charging for the Apple Watch.

Update — so to those who were doubting why I "hid" the deeper deal (eg. @Jenyushaw) you might be interested to know that JB Hi-Fi now block the price match.

It's disappointing IMHO. I'd hoped a balance where folks who care about the difference can be given a little bit of guided research without making it obvious. But instead now the deal is blocked for everyone.

    • +1

Yes, unfortunately I tried the live chat and online call and they both told me that it was the wrong model and couldn't price match to the Amazon deal.

However, the lady on the phone said something along the lines of "we can price match it to $180 for you" (didn't quite hear her properly) - and so if you give them a call maybe you'd get the same luck as I did

      • +1

Yeah funny that right? Because I stated above that it's available at around $180 on sale. So it leads me to validate these posts are monitored.

FWIW it's JB Hi-Fis choice to sell a different model as they have an exclusivity. But can't really argue them out to sell you something when they don't have to.

        • Definitely monitored.

    • It felt a little unethical getting this “price matched” but I guess we are all bargain hunters at the end of the day…

I left a message on their live chat last night and they rung me at 9am this morning to send me a direct order link with the price match applied. Paid for it with 5% off JB gift cards via work for a final price of $124.85. Thanks!!

  • I price matched jb @ $141 last time it was advertised. Currently using it for travel. The qi charger works on my z fold 4 at the base of the stand however takes over 5 hours to charge. Just as an fyi.
My wife's ip13 charges quickly as does her apple watch 7 on the magsafe

  • +1

Thanks to the op for this deal.
Jb would only price match the black for this price (fair enough) over the phone.
When I picked it up in store they were only too happy to swap for the white version :)

    • +1

Appreciate the love! Grats on securing the White model :)

  • Thanks OP.

  • @tommypickles Is the only difference with the WIZ017AU, the Apple Watch fast charging?

I have the 009 and it doesn’t charge my AirPods Pro gen 2 MagSafe through the third party case I have on it, but works on a regular other brand wireless charging pad. Wondering if they’ve fixed this up on the bottom pad?

    • Mine works with a spigen case on my pods.

      • Which model?

  • +1

Thanks OP. Price matched at JB Hifi Robina. Got the WIZ017AU in-store.

  • So overpriced for what they are. $131 for me isn’t a deal.

  • I’ve been eyeing the newer model, managed to get the white one for $175 via live chat on JB. They knew the model was different to the Amazon one and countered with $175. I had $10 perks coupon so was able to get it down to $165.

Not as good as this deal but close enough coz I really wanted it for a while now.

    • Same. Probably the same sale representative.

  • Still so expensive

  • Thanks OP.

Price matched and got WIZ017AU at JB Roselands.

  • thanks OP, talked to JB hifi and they pricematched with the new model, probably by accident but winning!

  • Hi, what’s the difference between this one and the Belkin 3 in 1 Charge Boost Pro (flat design) model?

  • Good thread - called JB and go the new version in white for $180 no questions asked.

Makes me feel like I should have asked for more off 😂
