Men's Summer Suits Linen Fabric

Hi bros,
Got married over the weekend. Was planning to wear an existing wool suit but when the weather forecast said 35 degrees I decided to get a linen suit instead!
I'm out in Western Sydney, we don't get the higher end retail brands.

Ended up walking into Politix and bought their parkland suit. Store was very well presented and had strong customer service. Had previously had good experience at YD and Peter Jackson - overall pleasantly surprised (just like my last interaction with real estate agents - they were actually personable and helpful!)

My query is - I asked for a linen suit at Politix, and immediately was given the Parkland suit to try on. However, I've just gone to clean the garment and saw it's only 2% linen, 98% polyester. To be honest, the texture fooled me and I didn't think to check the label as it was a pre wedding rush.

Does anyone know if the politix polyester weave is much less breathable than a proper cotton linen weave? I run hot and hate to think that I've spent a fair bit of money on an unsuitable suit

The top button didn't last the night, and I can't believe that I paid $50 for a pocket square! However, the styling is excellent and I feel like Michael Westen from Burn Notice in it

Cheers!

Congratulations on the marriage and wedding. Surely you have higher priorities & things to look forward to than worrying about the materials of a suit you have already bought and worn.

    • OP was hoping you’d suggest they could return it for full refund?

    • Well, during my speech my 2yo niece came up for a cuddle (little attention monster!) and gave me a huge hug… With a mouthful of chocolate - so I needed to attend to the stain hence checking the labels. It was 35 degrees as well, so the suit needs a clean.
Rest assured, the wife has been attended to
I'm going to put the suit pants into the washing machine, sounds like politix aren't built to last - I was under the impression that they were higher end than they really were. I'm sure modern machines and detergents are delicate enough to handle it… And it's Damn polyester

It's a Politix suit. If you got a couple of wears out of it, Id consider it a miracle.

    • So it's only good for one more marriage?

      • Or the divorce celebration as that is all he will be left with

I've already told my wife that I'll be much better prepared for my next wedding ;)

  • natural fabric is always best. polyester is like wearing a garbage bag.

    • I completely understand that, especially as someone that runs hot

I was bamboozled by the feel of the suit, it was very similar to a cotton linen weave.
I'm just hoping that someone is familiar with modern polyester weaves and can suggest if the breathability is similar.

I didn't know about the material and fibers of clothing when I started, and I came from a similar area, so there was no point asking my Dad.

Next time take your wife shopping with you; women seem to have more knowledge of these things (clothes for men) than men; until you gain more experience. For me, it was years later when I gradually learnt about the fineness of sheep's wool, etc.in the corporate world.

Avoid man-made fibers in clothing. They are good for cheap carpets that last though.
