+1 for him. The detail in his guides is insane and have been super helpful for me over the years. He has so many tips and tricks that you would never know without reading his stuff.
The Eurostar should be pretty straight forward. Go online and try to book a long way ahead.
If you are planning to do a bit of rail travel in Europe I would look at one of the online services that help you book. Usually there are intermediate stop over points and some services you need to prebook a seat, like the scenic trains in Switzerland. Most times you don’t need to book seats but if you hit a high patronage day you will appreciate the seat.
We’ve done quite a bit of rail travel in Europe and we tend to get the rail passes, particularly if we are travelling in Switzerland. We get the 5/10 days in a month ones. There is a set price fir all travel you do in one day. This allowed us to travel up from Aix en Provence, and continue through to London on the Eurostar for, roughly, $100 each for that day. We do a mixture of local trains, hiring cars, planes and cars depending on what we are trying to do and what is available.

thanks, it's we'll be traveling from Paris to London, with two young kids so won't be doing too much train travel that we will need the rail pass I think.
No probs. Hope it goes smoothly for you. The underground system in Paris is really good and it might be worth looking into the batobus. It is a hop on/hop off service up the Seine. It takes you to a few of the attractions and might amuse the kids.
Just came back from a Eurail trip and bought through Klook because they often have sales and shopback/cashrewards. Waited until there was a good 20% off sale and also got I think 5% cashback on top.
