  • Thats not a bad deal… im tempted.

    • I'm very tempted. However the hassle of swapping with my main drive has made me put my wallet away.

      For now.

How to buy 2 when only 1 in stock?

EDIT: Stock counter is fake. I bought the last one left and it still shows 1 left.

    • +2

Thought I got the last one too.. lies

      • Must be a backorder.

    • +1

And the 1 order limit has been lifted. Cancelled my original order and bought 2 instead.

$198.59ea for a top of the line 2TB M.2 SSD. Can't complain about that!

      • Did likewise

The deals keep getting better. My advice is to wait until a few more banks go belly up

This or WD Black SN770 for $211?

    • I think this is in the same league of SN850/X, ie 1 tier higher.

    • -7

      SN770 anyday.

      • I'd def pick the p5 plus, faster speeds and it has dram.

        • -5

Faster only at sequential reads. Slow at everything else, read the link above.

@John Doh: The sustained write is faster for P5 Plus, also, if you actually looked at the 2TB version, you will notice flagship PCIe gen 4 x4 SSD's sustained write improves on 2TB by a decent margin. SN770 cannot take advantage of 2TB due to the nature of the 4 channel controller.

Also, Tom's Hardware doesn't run tests which shows weakness of DRAMless SSD. For constantly read+write to the SSD, DRAMless SSDs do not have the consistency. Also, for writing lots of small files, while no storage device can do well in that type of test, DRAMless SSDs struggle if you keep on doing that for a long period of time. There is only so much a small HMB can do.

            P.S. I did not neg you. I don't neg people's comments.

            • @netsurfer: I saw the benchmarks at Toms hardware. The sequential write dips down after 50GB even on the 2TB. Yes the DRAM is faster for frequent read+write, but for most people's real world usage, the SN770 faster random access should still be faster? Technically you cant make out the difference unless you use the tools, but still!

is this one good for ps5?

What's the warranty like if it's been shipped by Amazon US and not AU?

    • It still goes through Amazon AU. Recent comments from OZBers indicate you need to drop off the item at one of the Amazon AU collection points for the return. The tracking of that return can be a bit iffy. One user got good experience and Amazon AU proceeded with the refund the next day. Another user, on the other hand, is still waiting to find out whether the return has reached Amazon AU (after a few days). He also indicated, based on his understanding, for his case, it will be sent to Amazon US to manage the warranty.

Unfortunately, there is no definitive answer. Even when I asked Amazon CSR, the CSR couldn't give me a clear answer and the answer was basically, send it back to Amazon AU first and they will mange that. There was a hint that there appear to be two different levels of warranty process, one for one year (likely to get a refund quickly but don't quote me on that), one for after one year.

  • cheers been waiting for a good gen 4 m.2

What will happen if someone ordered two and return one later? System will remove discount from whole order? Then return one will only get 188.1 refund. Just curious about how this system works.

  • Thanks. That'll go nicely in my new build

  • I bought one last year. $134 for 500G.

  • arrived, packaging a bit scuffed. BSOD immediately on boot (not using as boot drive) and after a bit of research, it errors with ASUS Aura installed for some reason. Removed the drive, uninstalled Aura, re-installed the drive and works perfectly so far.
