  • Thanks, got one

These are great. I own both this and the larger Blue Yeti. The full size one is good for work conferences with everyone around a table. If you’re just sitting at a desk then you can’t go wrong with the Nano

    this or AT2020USB+?

    which ones better?

    • +2

i mean at2020 is almost twice as expensive so..

    • +3

Whichever one is cheaper. Sound treating your room is the thing that's likely to affect your sound the most with conderser mics, so just pick one and get started with tweaking with it.

    • +1

AT2020 USB+ is better than even the non-nano Blue Yeti.

    • they are a large jump

But if ur in the room,by urself,it's reasonably quite..and u can place the yeti about 4 feet from you or less then at the price clear winner

  • Thanks OP, got one.

  • Bit a deal after a long time. Thanks OP./

  • Thanks OP. Much needed before the D4 release!

    Great review BTW - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30jJgzNuMoU

TL;DR - Best for spoken word. Not so good for vocal singing or music instruments.

  • Would this be an overkill for videoconferencing at home?

  • Thanks OP got one

have one set up on a boom arm and it can happily sit above my head facing down at me about 30cm away, completely out of the way and is crystal clear. highly recommend.

    • Sounds like the setup I "need".
What do I need to look out for in a boom arm?

      • +1

I initially bought a cheapo arm, the metal sheared near where it connected to the desk and just forked out for a Rode arm. Can pull it to my face and it will spring back to exactly where I want it or push it back behind my monitors where it will stay when not in use.

    • Are you in a quiet, somewhat treated room? does it pick up too much noise? I'm on the fence between condensor vs dynamic.

      • I am, but that doesn't matter as much with RTX Voice. Can have a vacuum going in the room and it won't come through. Even discords built-in noise reduction is fairly decent.

I was on a budget at the time, so definitely good for that. As an investment, there are likely other options far superior.

        • Any idea on how to get this piece of shit to stop losing connection to discord?

Noon question 😊 can this hooked up to a small speaker or used for karaoke. TIA.

    • same question

    • +1

Try asking again at 9am. You might have more luck.

      :p

    • No, condenser mics are really sensitive to background noise… It'll pick up on the music coming from the karaoke speaker, creating a feedback loop. Condensers are also quite delicate so you can't really pick them up and throw them around… Look into a good dynamic mic that can still be had for cheap like a Shure SM58 or one of it's many clones.

      • SM58 is 3 times the price and no USB, Would you recommend a good dynamic mic under $100 has USB?

  • This or Razer Seiren Mini?

  • +1

Legendary piece of garbage. It picks up every bit of noise it can despite the settings. Even the cockroach across the room walking. Better off getting a Rode or Shure microphone. Or a simple headset with a mic like the Sennheiser Game One. Delicious.

    • +2

True about the pickup. Even with the front pickup setting people can hear toilets being flushed down my hall!

    • Rode or Shure microphone. - Can you provide some specific models?

      • Sorry no. I went through plenty of reviews a while back but I have a shocking memory. But considering the selections are so huge, and price points are very different, its trickier to recommend something unlike the yeti which is basically just 2 models and thats it.

    • That likely just means you need to lower the gain, and move it closer.

      • Lowered to the point where I had to have my face on the microphone for it to stop picking up stuff in the background. Thats not fun at all.

  • Grab a Samson Q2U (alone or in the podcasting kit) as an alternative for this. On sale they're under $50, have both USB and XLR, and the quality for the price just dominates the Blue Yeti offerings.

    • Do you need to put the mic in you face to make it work properly? feels a bit awkward being too close to the mic in videoconferencing.

      • yes you do need the mic in your face, but it'll be worth it, and all the compliments that your voice feels asmr~

I got a Behringer on Amazon, without a sale it often hovered at $35 bucks so it ended up being pretty affordable!

  • It has a micro usb connection

  • $69.50 on catch (free delivery with onePass)
Might only be this price for 1 more day though according to the website

please don't bother with this steaming pile unless you really want/need every sound in your house to be amplified to the mic.

wife and I work remotely from home, tables side by side, and this mic was a nightmare if either of us sneezed while the other was speaking on a conference call 🤯

Bought 2 of these https://www.amazon.com/Behringer-Ultravoice-Dynamic-Micropho… ($45 bucks rn), some boom arms and the xlr to USB cables (phantom power not needed)

Only con is that you've gotta have it at your face cause it only picks up what's right in front of the mic, which is fine for us.

side note: if you do end up down this playthrough, get a very good boom arm, aliexpress has some for $60 but it's well worth it if you're using it every day

    • The counter point is that on a video call, a boom mic right up in your face can look a bit awkward as well too…

  • Would you recommend some xlr to USB cables and boom arm on alie? links if possible thanks.
