All transactions?? Or first transaction (no s)

Eligible Customers who make a Qualifying Purchase will receive a one-time Cashback credited to their Suncorp Bank Personal Deposit Transaction Account linked to their Eligible Suncorp Visa Debit card for the amount equal to their Qualifying Purchase up to the value of $10.00AUD for the first settled transaction made during the offer period (“Cashback”).

      Seems OP was over optimistic!!

A pretty nice bonus if you travel regularly on the network.

No matter how regularly you travel on the network or only once… only works 1 time!!

$10 max redemption, only applied once per Suncorp account holder (not once per Suncorp card)!

      first settled transaction

      Well picked up!
If use Suncorp card for 2 fares…
First is say $11.46, next $3.55
But first received & settled by bank is $3.55 - that's what you are reimbursed later, not the maximum of $10 for $11.46 fare!

Seems a disincentive to use card. Best to use only once for highest fare ~$10, then use a different payment method for other fares - to avoid disappointment.

Also, not $10 cashback, but "amount equal to their Qualifying Purchase up to the value of $10.00AUD"

Basically, it sounds like a reimbursement of the one first single trip transaction.

  • would it work with brisbane domestic airport station?

  • We don't have Trams in SE QLD.

    • Tram as in light rail.

    • We do, on the Gold Coast for years!

        That is light rail.
        Melbourne has Trams

        • The operator KDR Gold Coast, officially calls what runs on the rails - a TRAM - as I showed above.

As a leading global tram operator, Keolis Downer … winning a competitive tender for the Melbourne Yarra Trams franchise.
So they do know plenty about Melbourne & Gold Coast trams as the operator of both - to call it a tram!!

I'll take Keolis Downer's international tram operations experience over yours - that it's a tram🚊

          Melbourne has Trams

Yes, Gold Cost trams look almost identical to the new Melbourne trams they also operate. But ours are a sunny GC yellow🌞

State Govt run Translink refers to them as trams

Using their Journey Planner - choose Mode of Transport: Bus, Train, Ferry or… TRAM!
There is no checkbox for light rail!
So much for your incorrect claim. We don't have Trams in SE QLD!!

Boarding from the street level around Surfers Paradise, most would say it's a tram - as I've ridden in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide & elsewhere!

Generally the complete system is referred to as light rail. What was built is a light rail system.
Whereas the vehicle running on it is a tram.
We catch trams on the Gold Coast!!

It's a tram for this Deal - which is all that matters!.

    • -3

We don't have a working bus system either!

      • Works for me!
But this is a train & tram only Deal.

        • -1

Glad you have moon busses. I tourist trap town we have digital displays with antenna to connect to the gps tracked busses. In theory just what makes sense. But on strike days the display counts down telling you the bus is coming but it never turn's up.
There is an upside to the impeccable maintenance system: Now and then we see a bus go up in flames!

          • -1

@payless69: Invalid Neg vote as it's nothing to do with this train & tram Deal from Suncorp Bank!

This Deal specifically can't be combined with bus or ferry travel!!

Complain to someone who can do something about your bus problem.

Bus works well for me in Brisbane (my off-moon base). I'm too far from trains to use them. Take a bus to train station only when heading to coasts.

Time for me to catch a bus 🚍

            • @INFIDEL: Suncorp had to close most of their branches in this town. With ANZ taking over their financial arm for 4.9 billions it is going to be tough going to make grumpy customers happy.
We took a few cards to London to tap on their trains and busses. Suncorp: no go! Others worked flawless and even returned the money on the same day if trains were so late that we left the station.

              • -1

@payless69: Seems you love complaining, rather than doing anything about it!

Still not a valid neg - because your card didn't work on trains overseas!

Most travellers realise our local bank's cards may not work overseas. Even major cards have sometimes failed on my numerous trips overseas.
And never use ones with foreign exchange fees!

Well my aircon bus arrived - on time as usual.

                • @INFIDEL: Interesting! We used to travel around the world from 2007 onwards with a Suncorp Gold Card. Got us into hotels in Italy that first refused to show us rooms because we were wearing thongs. Pull out the gold card and they wanted us. Dubai on the other hand tried to refuse our exit because the gold card had no chip and we had used a debit card for the first time to buy the air ticket. We had to go to a counter that stitched up deal linking both cards. Nearly missed the plane!

                  • @payless69:

refused to show us rooms because we were wearing thongs

What - no bintang tshirt? There's your problem😃

I wear t-shirts with my name printed in local language. My Avatar was on my Japan t-shirts & cards. Makes travel easier in countries where I don't speak the language.
Locals comment it shows great respect!
Even Customs officers & guards in China treated me with more respect.

Things do go wrong… So be prepared!

Had 28degree Platinum MC refused overseas… Was in mountains, buying ticket to fly out that evening!! Was a worry!

Found my card was frozen because I used it in Japan. Had notified them i was going there! Used my Visa card instead.
Complained on my return, got an apology & a sweetener of a nice deposit to my card. That's how you do it!

After chip&pin was introduced in UK when i was there for 3 months in 2005, found i couldn't pay by card in restaurants. No chip!
Manager was called each time. They found a way around the problem. Usually the case as have to be able to cater for foreigners - who don't have their local system 💳

Sitting at the pub as am early - 2nd bus trip was faster than expected 🚍

  • Translink Smart Ticketing with photos.

    From Translink email (28/2/23):
Tap into Smart Ticketing today! Now live on all SEQ trains and trams. ✔️

Smart Ticketing is now available on Airtrain, which means you can tap in to Smart Ticketing for your travel between ANY station on ANY line across Queensland Rail (SEQ), Airtrain or G:link.

Simply tap on and off with a Visa, Mastercard or American Express debit card, credit card, or smart device to pay the same as an adult go card fare.

If you travel on a concession or transfer to a bus or ferry, you'll need to continue to use your go card or purchase a paper ticket at this time (but don't worry, you'll be able to tap in soon!)

    • As I need to catch buses to nearest train station, can't use this - without buying a new adult ticket for train.

Can't use train ticket to then transfer to bus or ferry…

Won't work if paying a concession fare.

System will be integrated like GoCard in future. But not before Deal ends.

      • Same, concession and needing to catch a bus

    6 zone peak/offpeak: $14.55 / $11.64
    SEQ Fares
    SEQ Zone Maps

    e.g. Cost after redemption:
    From Brisbane CBD
    Airtrain to BNE Airport: $10.90
5 zone PEAK to Robina $1.46
6 zone OFFPEAK to Nambour $1.64

  • So just confirming:

    1) I can use this on any train from Central Station?
    2) Can I pay with Apple Pay or has to be physical card?

    • +1

Yes. Any train from any SEQ station
(Can't transfer to / from bus or ferry)

T&C: "must use their Eligible Visa Debit card to tap on and tap off"
Only works 1 time, so best to use card - just in case

      • Thanks I only seem to have an Everyday Basics account which doesn't seem to be a current account they offer. Don't have a debit card so have sent them a message and asked them to post one out. Hopefully can take advantage of this.

        • Card should arrive in short time - less than 61d left for offer!

Cards on your account show in the app. (Should also show on website.)
Click on account - click 3 dots on top right (Account Settings) - Manage cards
Can then request new card via lost/stolen card.

Otherwise can apply for a new (free) account on app, site, or bank to get debit card.

I've got a few free Suncorp debit cards from Deals - use new card & receive 💰

          • @INFIDEL: Thanks just tried that and it comes up with ‘no cards found’. There is an option to ‘browse our card accounts’ or call 13 11 55. Will see what the secure message response comes up with, otherwise will open a new account. Hopefully new account will still be eligible?

            • +1

@JHoliday: At least that confirms no card associated with your account.

Any account (new or old) should be eligible. Likely why this promo exists - to get people to open an account.
Suncorp banking is being taken over by ANZ.

  • I tapped on today with suncorp card at start of train journey and then tapped off at the end. There was a tick on the machine at both sides, but my account still hasn’t been debited any amount. Does it take time to process the transaction?

  • How long does it take for the cashback to come through? The charge just settled this morning
