I have one of these. In a nutshell, if you're looking for for a small stylish speaker then this is not for you, but if you want a nice medium sized bang for buck speaker, then I highly recommend it. I really like it at around 30% volume as it has plenty of bass and sounds nice and clean. It can get loud and won't distort at full volume, but DSP kicks in and pretty much removes all the bass.

    Backstory
Was originally going to yolo it and get either a Marshall Tufton/Middleton, Sony XG300, Logitech Megaboom you name it speaker; but thought what the heck, lets try a Chinese speaker tuned by a random YouTuber I've been watching for 10 minutes.

Not trying to hard sell, but for the price you pay, you can only get a entry level speaker from the common brands like I mentioned above. I'd say comparable and probably better than other entry-middle range competitors like JBL Flip, Marshall Emberton II, Bose Soundlink Mini 2, Sony SRS-XB33. But that's just my opinion as I tried the Emberton and Soundlink mini 2 but it sounded much like my old Sony SRS-X33 so I didn't bother with a side grade.

EarFun markets the speaker as 'Tuned by Oluv', but it doesn't come with the firmware tuned by Oluv anymore. I read it might because Oluvs tuning is more of a 'neutral' balanced, where EarFun's customers probably wanted something more bass / doof doof oriented.

Mine came with 0.50 firmware(anything past 0.50 is not Oluv tuned), but you can downgrade it easily in Windows. I'm running 0.48 and quite happy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzRRwLO59PI

    • Sweet, thanks for your thoughts! I know you described it as a medium sized speaker, but from what I saw online it's still quite portable right?

Thanks for the tip regarding the downgrade, can you describe what the main differences in sound you found between 0.48 and 0.50? I just ordered mine before posting so keen to downgrade it on arrival.
EDIT: Watched the video you linked and yea makes sense why you downgraded. Looks like all the 0.4X firmwares should sound the same but 0.48 would have the latest bug fixes?

      • In terms of size, its not small, but not huge. I would say its medium like two 6" subway subs stacked together. You cannot dangle it around outside your backpack like JBL Go, it would need to be inside your bag.

I'm not an audiophile, but the speaker has an indoor and outdoor mode and it was pretty much the opposite setting. I recommend you to try both and see which you like.

        • 0.50FW (can't 100% remember)
outdoor - wasnt that nice as it sounded like it was put inside a box
indoor - sounded better with quite a alot of bass (think of having Sony's MegaBass turned on lol)

        • 0.48FW
outdoor - my favourite good amount of low/mid/high and not muddy like 0.50's indoor mode
indoor - not sure why they made this, sounded like it was put inside a box

    • Battery life as advertised?

      • Sorry haven't tested that yet

oh interesting that they made a shipping exception for this speaker.\
Well I do have one and can 100% recommend, it's probably better than most $200 speakers

  • Recommend getting two of these rather than one, considering the shipping cost and the benefits of a stereo pair (TWS works very smoothly).

Earfun didn't appear to have shipped my item (I ordered 9th January). I contacted them in early February and thankfully got a constructive response, and a few days later my tracking number finally showed something. When I collected my package sent by Earfun on February 17th it was a pleasant surprise to discover that I had two speakers! I'd like to think that Earfun sent me a second speaker because I was polite and didn't start a Paypal dispute but they were probably following company policy, which looks to be fairly generous.
Mine shipped with 0.43. I was expecting 0.50. I'm thinking I can avoid the whole reflashing deal.
