    • If not in the T&Cs then there is no such rule. As long as your application has approved, they can't deny your bonus point. If they do that, then they'll in trouble when you raise to AFCA. If customer support told you some "hidden rules", ask for proof in T&Cs.

Really put off with these credit card taking out 10K limit without ability of lowing it. For everyday people who don't have a 6 figure salary, this basically take out the whole of your credit pool. Credit issuer deliberately doing this so you have to solely use their and not others. This is borderline thugs in my opinion!!

Just one "GREAT" feature of OZB, you don't have to give a reason to nag and your user name doesn't show!! 😡😡

Curious on the nagger(s) are you NAB / Citi employee? Or are you the 50 cents that subscribe to my post so you can nag every time I make an anti made in China comment🤣🤣

    • A friend of mine has the Citi Prestige, Virgin Money and HSBC card all at once. He doesn't make 6 figures.

  • The other current offers are 150,000 Citi points / $7k spend or 80,000 Velocity points / $6k spend — if you can make the spend (and you use points) these offers seem better.

  • Is the cashback a one off or annually?

  • Citi rewards points smoke and mirrors what that is in Qantas points…nobody can work it out…

  • RTX4080 for $1400 anyone?

  • does Citi still support cheque to self for Balance Transfer?

    • Pretty sure they've stopped the cheque to self feature a while back.
They've got something new (been around a few years now I think) called PayAll which has a similar effect.

Edit: Similar as in you can transfer these amounts to pay other bills outside of another credit card, but you won't be able to get it as a cash amount

  • I already have a Citi Premier Credit Card, can I still apply this one?

    • If you already have the same credit card. How can you still apply? 🤔

      • Yeah, my is actually this one Citi Premier Card - Citi Bonus Points offer. I think it is the same card but different offer…. maybe I can cancel it after get the reward Points and apply this one again.

  • Is there a quick way to check my total Google pay transaction in the past x months?

I am planning to go overseas in month of Aug, and wants to avail this offer to buy a phone just before 2 months to my trip, so that I can get TRS refund while travelling.

can I do this, appreciate any inputs:

    1. Apply for credit card now.
    2. Use samsung pay at store to buy a gift card (let say JB HI FI)
    3. Buy the phone, in last 2 months of my travel date i.e. Aug. 2023
    4. by then, I would have received the cashback on credit card + TRS while travelling.
    • +1

      I don’t see why not :)

    • +1

Yes you can. You'll get the cashback on your very next statement after you meet the spend.

PS. It'll be even better if you can get 10% off TCN gift cards from Coles/Woolies

      • great idea, thanks !!

        • If you bring back the same phone to Australia when you are back, this is tax fraud.
          Just saying.

          • @Hasbulla: Huh? Why? I can declare it when I bring back.

            • @timhn: It's not you can, you must.
But then why this whole wasted exercise of getting a refund and then having to give it back?
I literally can't see the sense of it.
              Please enlighten me otherwise.

              • @Hasbulla: You pointed out this is a tax fraud when return back to Australia. But i said why should it be when i declare it on the way back.

                Please enlighten me otherwise.

By the time get back to Australia, the phone has depreciated about 3 months old. Then you only get tax on the depreciated amount minus $950.

It's most likely custom will send you off when you tell them that. The effort is not worth their troubles.

                • @timhn: Ok I see.
It's just a long shot on Customs' leniency/loophole.
Also, I don't seem to be able to find anything about depreciation on the ATO Website as they state 'to pay GST on goods you bring back into Australia'.

  • I have the Citi rewards and citi prestige. Since this is Citi premier - I should still be eligible for this promo, right?
Or are there any other CC deals that are worth it?

    • How did you go with this, did you end up applying?
I have just been approved for Prestige (still waiting for card) and wondering if I'm eligible for the bonus on this one

      • I missed this reply. No, I didn't end up applying for this card.

  • Manage to cancel with full refund annual fee

    • get full refund after getting new card bonus?

      • +1

        yep after the $600 cashback

        • Did you cancel right after getting the first statement?

          • @wangasm: yea I few days after first statement

            • @monitha: Thanks, that confirms it then that a refund can be obtained if you don't transact after being charged the annual fee.

            • @monitha: thanks for sharing this - could you help me visualise what this looks like?

I just received my card, so I activate card, and immediately make a 2k payment via Google Pay. Then wait for some number of days before I cancel? What should I be on the lookout for?

              Thanks.

              • @OZcheepsk8: Same. Just got mine today. Would like confirmation.

              • +3

@OZcheepsk8: It should be something like this. I'm not sure about the last step though, if you should pay before or after requesting cancellation. Depends how they refund you.

                • Activate card
                • Spend the 2k Gpay asap within the first month
                • Try to redeem as much of your reward points as you can (since you lose it after cancelling)
                • Stop using the card (Or use it until 25ish days, because you don't want transactions getting processed after your statement has generated)
                • Wait until you receive your first statement approx 30-31 days after receiving your welcome email, this will also be around the day they charge the annual fee
                • Wait again another 1 day for them to credit the cashback
                • After confirming the above, pay off the rest of your statement
                • Request cancellation with refund of annual fee (through chat or secure mail I assume)
                • @wangasm: legend

                • @wangasm: @wangasm
Did you actually get the refund? I chatted with them they said they will not refund annual fee.
                  https://i.imgur.com/sTTJx92.png

                  • @arst: No I never tried, but I did also chat with them and they told me you could get a refund given I did not use the card after annual fee charge. The original commenter also did get a refund this way.

                • @wangasm: I requested a refund on chat but they said the $150 was a valid charge.
I then pushed for pro rata refund and she said that would happen automatically when I cancelled the card via the app. I have my doubts so I might call them tomorrow.

    • does this mean we are getting $600 for free? i'm confused as to what the catch is with this deal.

      • Spend $2000 using Apple, Samsung or Google Pay within 90 Days

        • $450 after you pay the annual fee, which you may get pro rata refunded

It's not the greatest deal, there the ANZ one I just got 110k qantas points ($425 Annual fee - $255 cashback)
Sold the QFF points for $1100 and netted $930 all said and done

          • +1

@Brick50: The Citibank Prestige is the best value at the moment if you can get it.

          • @Brick50: How too sell qff points ?

    • How long after spending $2K, did you get the $600 cashback?

    • Hi @monitha, when you got the cashback and you cancelled the card. How did you get the $600 credit out of the card to your bank account? I'm assuming you're not able to use the card once it's cancelled?

  • I am looking at building a new PC and was considering using this deal to make the $2k PC cost $1.4k. It would be my first card (I've been thinking about getting a credit card for a while to start to build some credit history) is there anything I need to watch out for? Would I just be able to go instore and pay via my phone which has another bank card linked - does that could as "Apple pay"?

    • Yep. That will work :)

    • You have to be using the Citibank card through Apple Pay. You can't just use any bank card.

  • Anyone know if the $2000 spend includes paying with Apple Pay through online stores? Doesn’t seem to specify that it’s tap and pay only.

    • +1

      Yes it should be included

      • Do you have personal experience of an online payment meeting the cashback condition?

        • Yep, I've done GPay top ups for Revolut which met the condition.

  • Applied for this today. I hope it comes before April 13 lol because I have my contiki trip to pay for, and they allow Apple Pay.

  • Say I receive the $450 or hopefully $600 cashback and if I cancel the card a few days after the first statement and paid the 2k, how would I get the credit out of the account if the card is cancelled as I won't be able to use it? Hope that makes sense haha

    • It’s not a cashback as in cash paid to you separately. It’s just your bill after spending $2,000 will only be $1,400 and you’d pay $1,400 in full to pay off the month and close the account.

      • Thank you

        • Along with the above. More info here:

Cashback will be credited to your Account within 16 weeks of meeting the spend criteria. Your Citi Premier Card must remain open and in good standing to receive the cashback. Cashback will reduce the outstanding balance of your Account but will not count towards your next monthly repayment obligation.

          • @Pelicannn: Does this mean if I spend 2k with applepay etc, then pay the 2k off the card, the cash back won't be applied?

            • +1

@yewman: No it will be applied as a credit on your next statement. You can’t actually get physical cash. Just take it as $600 off something in the future.

I.e just pay off $1400 or so

  • would purchasing giftcards from coles/ww count as eligible purchases to make up the $2000 qualifying spend?

    • Yes, it just shows as a normal charge from Woolies/coles

  • I've been approved for Prestige card (haven't received it yet) can I apply for this and claim both the bonuses if eligible?

    • Highly doubt it.

New Citi Premier credit card customers only and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers.

      • You can, I've claimed both Premier and Prestige bonuses within a month of each other and both cards active. That point is probably referring to multiple offers for the same card type (the other offers for Premier)

        • Yep, can confirm. Called them today and I'm eligible for both bonuses as long as I meet the requirements.

      • New Citi Premier credit card customers only and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers.

Meaning existing Premier card customers are not eligible for this.

  • I got more than 150k for the annual income. Applied for the minimum credit limit but still getting rejected.
Proceed carefully if you are looking into this credit card.

  • Cashback only for Apple Pay payments? Cant see the google or samsung pay mentioned now?

    • +1
      1. To be eligible to receive $600 cashback, you must apply for the Citi Premier Card by 31 May 2023, then spend a minimum of $2,000 on eligible purchases using your new card through Apple Pay or another eligible digital wallet within 90 days from approval. Excludes Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special Promotions, interest, fees, refunds and Chargebacks. "Another eligible digital wallet" means Samsung Pay or Google Pay.
      • Thanks for your help. The landing page just mentioned Apple Pay. But the fine-print has it. Have been with coles card for 8+ years. Time for a switch.

      • +1

Thanks again. Just applied and got approved. It look less then 20 minutes for approval. Time to say Bye Bye to Coles MC

  • What's an easy way to spend the 2K minimum spend with GooglePay? I normally buy eWish gift cards to surpass the minimum spend, but can't seem to buy them with GooglePay on the Woolies website.

    • +1

Pay upfront for a hotel next year with free cancellation and cancel it a few months later after cancelling the card. They will refund you to bank/other card.

    • +2

I just transferred $2k to my Revolut and took the hit on charges. It worked and I've received the $600 credit on my account. Now to try and cancel to avoid the $150 fee….

      • +1

I did this too back when there was no Gpay fees for top ups.
Still good if you don't want to deal with following up cancellations/refunds. (Plus you don't lose access to 2k for months in a hotel booking)

      • how long did it take for them to credit your account?

        • Just a few days from memory. Thanks for reminding me though. They were supposed to send a cheque for the fee refund pro rata but I never got it.

  • Can opal public transport top ups with apple wallet, be part of the $2k spend?

    • Sorry but isn't Apple wallet is Apple Pay?

    • Just top up your Opal card at Coles World Square through the service desk cashier. You'd also get flybuys points on top of that.

  • Does anyone know if it is possible check how much has been spent via Apple Pay etc. on the card?

    • Maybe in the city app, transactions and search for Apple pay or other identifier?
I can find my Google Play purchases like that.

      • Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can see in the app's transaction section or in the search area to allow me to filter by Apple Pay. :(

I will try contacting Citi to see if there is a way — if anyone else knows please let me know.

        • Unfortunately there's no way to see it in the Citi app as far as I can tell, you will need to rely on the transaction history in your Apple/Google pay wallets.

  • +6

    Confirming that I
    - got this card
    - transacted greater than $2000 on google pay within one month (about 25 days due to pending transactions)
    - stopped using the card
    - received the statement that charged annual fee
    - received $600 cashback the next day
    - used my reward points to pay for a transaction
    - paid the remaining amount via BPay
    - waited for BPay to clear
    - called Citibank, told them to close it and refund the annual fee
    - they advised it would be pro-rata refund of $135 to be sent via cheque

    • Legend.

    • just wondering did you ever get the annual fee refunded? i had the same conversation with the rep a month ago but when i got on the live chat today they told me they dont do pro-rata refunds on the annual fee.

  • +1

Ooof. Rejected for the first time ever for any CC. According to my experian records, I'm spotless in my credit records, yet got a swift no.

May have to do with the fact that I have a Prestige and Rewards card currently open with Citi and a 3rd one might be pushing it.

  • So this deal is still on except it is now a $300 annual fee?

  • +1

Has anyone else experienced not getting the cashback at the first statement?

I initially made a 2k+ GPay purchase on Ebay, then read a forum post saying online GPay won't qualify.
So, just to be sure I did a 2k Revolut GPay top up (this was 5 days before the first statement).

But now my first statement has come in and there's no cashback.
I'm really not sure now if I've qualified for the cashback or what, but there is this condition:

Cashback will be credited to your Account within 16 weeks of meeting the spend criteria

Anyone else have a similar experience and get some answers?

    • The cashback comes 1 day after you receive your statement, which I assume was today/yesterday

      • Got the statement on Friday 9th, now's Monday 12th and still no cashback. It's not looking good.
I thought it might not get processed over the weekend, but now I realise its a long weekend in some states, so maybe tomorrow?

      • +2

        Update: Got the cashback! :D

  • Does anyone have a screenshot of the offer? I am chasing up the cashback and Citibank is saying it is for Apple Pay only.
