ShopBack Ultimate Eats $100 Gift Card in App Purchase

Hi All.

I bought the ultimate eats gift card for $100 on the shopback app. I have not been able to redeem it. I have been emailing back and forth with shopback for a month and they have not helped me redeem the gift card nor given a refund despite me asking for one since the day I purchased it and found I couldnt redeem it. I don't have the same problem with the doordash gift cards as it gives a code and you redeem in app on doordash. I bought the ultimate eats gift card to be redeemed on menulog as advertised. As the customer service has been absolutely shocking to say in the least and a month of pleas for help or a refund to shopback have gone with no help just pointless email replies that don't solve the problem, did anyone else buy this ultimate eats gift card and have you been able to redeem it on menulog???? How did you get it to work? Yes I have sent a message on here to the shopback rep but would appreciate any info fellow ozbargainers may have if they have been able to successfully redeem this particular card. This has been a really really really bad customer service experience. I have written countless emails and requested a refund to no avail. I am not able to see the gift card in the app. under purchases when I click on see voucher first I am prompted to verify myself by picking two objects the same and then I see a message that says "Your egift could not be retrieved at this time. Try again later".

I have tried enough times…..

I assume your card is Ultimate Eats. Can you check the balance on this website to make sure the card is valid? https://www.ultimategiftcards.com.au/check-balance/

When you want to redeem it, you don't put it as Gift Card but use it as Credit Card instead.

  • Hi there mate, I've just sent a reply to your DM to help get this resolved once and for all for you. Apologies again for the frustration here, really not what we like to hear and definitely feedback that we take seriously, so thanks again for sharing it.

  • I managed to work it out on my own, with zero help from shopback despite me wasting many hours and more than a month with a masochistic customer service rep who refused to put me onto a manager despite I am thinking over 10 requests to do so.
FYI I can have my moments but I am not completely stupid. This card was very difficult to redeem. Shopback, may I suggest that you make purchases available to view and redeem on your website? I don't see why you would not make customers purchase and order information available online in their account on your website.

The cream on the cake was shopback getting a manger to email me (in theory) only for when I responded to give me back to the masochist I had asked to not have to deal with who had continued to not help me for a month. Shopback, clear instructions to redeem a purchased card do not require a screenshot. When your system is not working correctly to redeem a card that does not require a screenshot to redeem it. I accurately described what was happening on my end. The card could only be purchased in app but could not be redeemed in app!

Shopback rep, now I have a balance left on my card do I have to do an exact spend on menulog with it or will they allow me to use 2 cards at checkout? If I cannot use 2 cards at checkout that means I lose the money left on the card……

    • Won't be able to do split transactions online, it says it in bold under the "how to use" on ShopBack. You'll have to add to mobile wallet and then do a split transaction in store at one of the restaurants that accept the card

      • so I can't use the whole card on menulog, Unlike the doordash cards which apply a complete credit on your account. This is not a great card to use on menulog. Buyers beware.

        • It's pretty clear in the description on the ShopBack site. It isn't a menulog gift card, you're comparing two different things
