The community revoked your negative (-9) not the mods last time, just as your neg today was revoked.

All of your orders are FRESH roasted.

All of your neggers freshly roasted too 🔥

            • @nutcase: Careful, that's apparently racist to certain staff.

        • Under every comment is a votes link. If you click this you'll see the vote breakdown

each comment has a "net" number of votes represented by X. Everytime someone votes your comment the system does a calculation
          P - N = X
where P is positive votes and N is negative votes. If X reaches a value of -8, the user's Negative deal vote is revoked by the community. Members can only vote once, so that means it takes at least 8 unique votes to revoke a deal vote.

If your Deal vote is revoked by moderation then the whole comment is unpublished and so is the vote attached to it. You will also get a system message that your comment was unpublished in this scenario.

If you only received a message that your vote was revoked and the comment is still there, that means the community decided against your vote.

            @scrimshaw: Amazing!
Thanks - never knew how people could tell in their replies.

          • -1

@scrimshaw: I stand corrected; didn't know it worked like that, appreciate the insight.

Is there any reason that it only shows users that upvoted a comment and not those that downvoted?

          • @scrimshaw: Sorry, I don't understand, whose vote gets revoked, on which comment?

            • +1

@kiitos: Their deal vote gets revoked.

  • Which is best for a latte?

    • +1

Depends what flavour profiles you like, but the Sumatra is very versatile & great for milk coffees.

      • Thanks! Prefer the chocolate flavours

        • Sumatra definitely has chocolate flavours, it's a solid coffee, you can't go wrong at this price. We use cafe style coffee mugs & find adding slightly less milk (maybe 1.5cm depth) into the double shot pour really allows the coffee taste & intensity to shine through.

      • Thanks for your great feedback The Judge.

        Cheers
        Dan

    • Hey SevenSmurfs - we are super confident you would enjoy the Sumatra and this is a great deal for that one that happens around once month.
Otherwise I would recommend the Enterprise as a great place to start.

      I hope that helps.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • Somewhat unrelated but hoping Dan can answer this. I'm trying to order 1kg of Colombia on a 'subscribe and save'. I've added the Basal Pequeno Digital Scale as I figured that the scale and my first shipment of beans could be shipped together, but I am being charged $11 for shipping at checkout. Is there a way around this or is that the intended rate? Thanks

    • Hey CptTerry - let me jump in and see what's happening there - do you mind touching base on the chat app on the site to chat while I look?

      Cheers
      Dan

      • Update: Dan helped me out through the store. Thanks Dan!

        • Thanks mate - my pleasure!

    • Somewhat unrelated but hoping Dan can answer this.

      😄

    • Hey again CptTerry - I have a short term solution if you can touch base via email [email protected] or the chat app I can sort you asap and make the proper fix later.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • Hi Dan, wondering if you have any idea what the caffeine content of this brew is? I understand it varies with each batch but hoping you might have a rough range from quality analysis.

    • Hey there MauTauAja - no samples I am sorry.

If you want to reach out on the website chat app or email [email protected] I can try and help you choose a blend that I am confident you would like.

      I hope that helps.

Congrats on your new kit bayleyb !!
If you need a hand dialling these in as your first run please shoot me an em,ail - I will be happy to help.

      Thanks for your order.

    • Good choice on both the machine and beans. Both are my daily.

      • Any accessories you recommend for the machine? I'm aiming for consistency as a beginner so have picked up a scale, dosing cup and palm distributor/tamper so far.

        • +1

Just a scale for dialling in. There are a ton of good videos on YouTube showing good ways to dial in the Barista Express.

I also have a knock box, but these are the only accessories I bother with. You don't need to go crazy starting out. Best to just get familiar with it for awhile, then add later.

  • I'll stand by that these coffee's (even the "lightest" roasts) are still way too dark.

If you are used the "lighter" roasts I would stay away from these.

    • Thanks again for sharing Jofzar - sorry we don't have what you are looking for.
That's a first for us in terms of them being "way too dark" but we value your opinion and take it on board.

      Cheers
      Dan

    • +3

I have been consuming the Sumatra roast and it is light roast to me.

    • I agree, if you like light roasts I would go something else.

However they do some of the fullest body shots, and great for chocolate, caramel notes in your espressos or lattes.
Fantastic medium to dark roast coffee!

  • The current discount period is perfect for me (I wonder if any Ozbargianer would buy it at full price), I don't like to store my coffee too long in my pantry.

    • These offers are so frequent you would be mad to ever buy at full price

  • +5

Still prefer Aldi for half these prices. Though last time I went to Aldi they were sold out, probably should do my shopping earlier in the day.

    • +2

Aldi is good enough for me, but if feel like these guys a one step above aldi. Only thing I slightly dislike is the lack of detail/origin about the blends.

    • I have gone to 3 different Aldi stores as soon as they opened this week. The shelves are always empty and staff confirmed they received none.

      • +1

I'm going to Costco tomorrow for the member-free free day, might see what they have.

        • Gypsy coffee from Costco is good value. Love the flavor

          • @Kahbo: That's what I bought actually. I felt a bit sick by the time I finally tried it so I'm not sure how I feel about it, not from the coffee I think just tension headache.

            • @AustriaBargain: My Airjo arrived today. Will try it in the next couple of days. Hope it will be better than the gypsy as this is freshly roasted.

              • @Kahbo: I haven't tried the Gypsy again because still feeling a bit sick. But I did kind of like what I tried yesterday. It tasted oily. I think I was sold by the promise of "chocolate" flavour on the packet and kinda tasted it maybe.

                • @AustriaBargain: I’ve tried this blend, smooth and rich as described but it’s too acidic for my liking.. 😞

                  • @Kahbo: Yeah I noticed it's pretty acidic. I do like the oily mouth feel of it but. I think $20 a kg is my upper limit for coffee beans. Don't want to get too carried away. Maybe I should just learn to tolerate the Aldi dark beans.

    • I bought a bag of Aldi Medium roast (about 4 weeks post roast date) for my Barista express. With 18g in and about 2 or 3 ratios out with extraction time between 25-30 secs, it just tasted so bland, flavourless. Not sure what happened. I read a lot of favourable reviews on Aldi beans being reasonable both in terms of price and flavour. Now I am not sure about the later. May need to try a different beans.

      • +1

I liked the medium but wasn't quite strong tasting enough, so I pay a bit extra for the Brazil. The dark is way too dark for me which is a shame because it's the cheapest.

        • Yes agreed about the medium not strong enough. Normally I would, on a double shot would split with my wife. With the Aldi Medium, splitting makes it too weak.

      • Yeah, must be a bean vintage thing. The Medium beans this year were ordinary. Even Brazilian wasn't the best.

Coles had fresh Daley St Medium beans (only 10 days from roast date), but they were also bland taste, but had a good body.

So made my own blend with 60% Harris Extra Strong beans (Dark Chocolate toffee tasting notes) & 40% Daley St medium. Comes up not bad in the Jura, very nice in the BES 870.

        • Cool. Will keep the Harris in mind. Just ordered some Lavazza Oro from Amazon. Will see if it is any improvement. Or will have to up the price to find one that suits the taste.

Had some beans from the Byron bay Iga a few months ago, as my first coffee journey and thought it was good but don’t remember the brand. Then tried Aldi medium and not happy.

      • I found the same with the aldi beans. Tried them all. Very simple tasting with no noticeable notes.

Where as the enterprise blend I bought from airjo had a great deal of flavour. Definitely buy again when I need more beans

    • Seems to be a shortage last few months at Aldi - beans always out of stock

      • Yeah, zero beans at my store. Weird as there is normally heaps. maybe a recall

  • Way to expensive for what it is…

    • yeah agree..

    • Wa to expensiv fo wha i i..

    • +2

got a link to freshly roasted beans delivered for cheaper?

      • -3

Okay let me rephrase that. In my opinion it is not worth it, i like the sumatra blend it's just expensive..

  • I buy green beans grown within my state, then have a local roastery make em' blonde.

    https://www.foodmiles.com/

  • anyone know how these go as a cold brew?

  • I tried Stargazer last time for my cold brew, it was pretty good. Let's try Sumatra this time!

  • Hey @AIRJO CoffeeRoasters

For Sumatra, do you have a good dial-in recipe for the Breville Dual Boiler (including shot temp)?

    Cheers.

  • Hi

What blend and grind do you recommend for a Moka pot

    • Curious too! Nice to see another Moka Pot drinker :)

    • My wife's tried most of their beans with a moka pot, and says she likes Sumatra the best.

  • +1

any discounts on the enterprise blend?

  • This one seems to curdle my soy milk unfortunately - I think maybe the acidity is higher than others?

  • Thanks Dan. Didn’t need it but my freezer is my coffee friend. Maybe not as tasty as fresh but all we have tried out of freezer has tasted delicious!

  • -4

I think only noobs buy these online beans. For actual daily drinkers, you will notice the number 1 factor determining quality is days since roast date. Does this seller divulge exact roast date, other than assuring you it's "fresh, trust me bro"?

    pfft

I go Aldi and look at the roast date

    • +1

Yes they absolutely do, my last order arrived within 1 week of roasting, ready to drink.

      • +1

Last time, mine arrived to Sydney CBD 2 days after the roast date.

    • +1

"Does this seller divulge exact roast date, other than assuring you it's "fresh, trust me bro"?" Yes they do, roasted fresh to order.

Enjoy your bland simple tasting Aldi beans.

  • such a good price to include express shipping, hope the beans are good

  • What beans are good for filter and is there any special deals for them?

  • Got it super quick. No jellybeans though :(

  • Rep, thanks for quick shipping. Time to dust off the V60.

    • +1

Crema coffee garage have some great coffee for v60. None of these would be great for v60. You should really consider single origins as the flavour profile of blends is better for milk based coffees as each bean has a different purpose such as underlying notes vs stronger flavours to break through the milk.
There is a pricy but amazing coffee there called Sidra. It's around $240/kg but you should try a 250g bag if you want to invest in one of the best flavours for a v60

  • Hi,

Was wondering my beans were posted out on 27/3 but the roast date is 27/3. Do you guys roast fresh beans and send it out on the day?

  • Waiting on the new deal, if it doesnt come ill have to go elsewhere… :'(

    • +1

it's on again until Tuesday 18/4. Same code. You're welcome.
