  • Have been bombarded today with spam messages from many sources including Telstra but different messages, McAffee and Norton with overdue invoices and others. Had computer tightly locked down -so I thought- and haven't more than half dozen in past year. Beware!

  • Op, can you pm me your number? I work at Telstra and curious about this message

    • +1

You might want to look at what others have to say about this number, at least 6 users have reported it as fishy

      • I think with all the scam texts these days it comes across as scammy, but it's not

        • thats the conclusion i came too… but not sure what ill do if i get on the phone and want address / licence /DOB etc…

      • Doesn’t bother me in the slightest if op pms or doesn’t.. I’m offering to help, if they don’t want it, does not bother

        • sure you are definietly maybe probably genuine but not gonna give my mob number to a random internet person - if i wanted to roll that dice without due dilligence, id just give my personal deets to the 1800 number?

Why dont you go through official telstra channels and find out for the OzB community that way?

end result is the same…not even sure what giving you my number would achieve?

        • but thanks for taking the time to post, cheers

    • as a telstra employee, do you really have the ability to look at (spy) other people's text messages?

  • Link in your post goes straight to a Telstra website with the exact same information in your post…….

  • Hmm it's interesting that when you go to the site linked, all the links are for Telstra themselves, besides the possible bogus 1800 number

But it gives steps of going into Telstra directly…

Main $300 image is hosted by Telstra themselves…

Offer: Offer is only available to the intended recipient of this message. One offer per service.
Data: 400GB data is made up 200GB on your first recharge, and 200GB of bonus data. Data does not rollover.

  • The "hxxps://" looks fishy, or did you intentionally change it to prevent posting the actual link?

  • Looks legit IMO. Looks like a targeted campaign to Telstra customers on old plans in MICA billing system which they’re trying to phase out (hence MICA in URL).

    • i agree, just thought to run it by some of the wise heads on this site, of which you are one.

dont know waht MICA is but you make a good point..cheers

  • I got two physical letters in the mail today trying this scam. They look like legitimate letters from Telstra, but want you to call the 1800 phone number above.

    • in my case, turns out it was legit.

i suggest you call telstra 13 22 00 public number and they will put you through to right dept, as i did

it really sucks how consumers have to be so on guard due to all the data hacks these days
