  • Just ordered amazing deal!

I have this game on the Playstation. Played through the first level and got to the end boss. Died and have to start all over again. All save progress gone and wasted like an hour. WTF?

    • +3

You got plenty of save points after the first boss.

      Amazing game, even on Switch!

    • +7

Turn down the difficulty to easiest for the first part because you can turn it back up in the settings after you reach the save point.

I hope you pick it up again because it is honestly one of the best games I've played in my whole gaming life.

      • +2

Really? I might retry it again after hearing your praise.

    • Confused by Souls-style game in 2023

    • The same thing happened to me. I was too casual with that first boss. I think I thought to myself that it's probably one of those early bosses that you can't beat so why bother trying too hard. I was shocked that I had to start the whole game again…such a waste of time. But, I was more careful with the boss the next time and it's not actually that hard to kill and as has been said, there are more save points once you get past that point. Unlike others though, I couldn't really get into the game. I love that it switches genres from a shooter to a platform game to an open world type game and the music is great too but I got bored quite quickly and couldn't force myself to keep playing.

yeah the first tutorial level is actually pretty punishing if you die. This happened to me too and was so annoying.

My advice would also be to just play through that one level on normal or even easy difficulty, then bump it back up once the world opens up and you gain access to checkpoints.

Once the game opens up I promise you those moments of frustration will be water under the bridge for such a great experience that follows.

I have this on the PS4 - one of greatest moments in gaming history. Really tempted to get this for the Switch just to add to the collection.

    Do I do it?

    Thanks OP 🙂

    • +2

That's how my Switch collection has gotten so big…

  • +1

how does it run on the switch is the q

    • +1

That's the thing, all I've heard is that its the "greatest port ever" etc..

    • +1

30fps cap but seems to be fairly stable at that. If that's not a deal-breaker then go for it? Also a few exclusive skins.

  • +1

One of my favourite games. Have it on PC but can't resist trying it on a handheld. Thanks OP.

    • Is the performance any good on PC?

      • +2

        Depends on your PC?
PC version isn't an unoptimised mess if that's what you mean.

        • Thanks just got the steam version for a smidge under $24

    • +1

      Yep, same and same. 🙂

  • Oooo very tempt. Wonder if this will work with the 15/17% ebay code later…hmmmm

Edit: Nope the dream is dead.

  • Wish they port this to PS5 also

    • +1

      Ps4 upgrade runs on ps5 at 60fps

  • wow.. awesome deal
too bad I've already bought it (and still unopened) :(

  • I bought it at I think $39 a few months ago. Hit the bench after FE:Engage and Octopath 2, but it'll get finished eventually.

To anyone curious - it's fun, and runs well on the switch.

  • Sadly, seems like this deal is finished - only buying options now seem to be >$50.

  • Out Of Stock Now happy i managed to score a copy

  • Has anyone played Nier Replicant? What's it like?

    • +1

I think it likes nice long walks on the beach and cuddles every now and then.

      • @SpeedRunnerLink

I have to admit I don't get the analogy, what do you mean? 😕

    • +3

Still a good game but (side) quest design can feel a bit dated compared to Automata.
Amazing music and story nonetheless. Gameplay wise I’d say Automata is smoother and more refined, but Replicant isn’t so bad.
Overall I reckon if you enjoy the lore, story and music aspects of Automata then definitely check out Replicant.

I'm new to gaming and the switch. I just finished Zelda botw. Loved it. Can anyone comment on the likelyhood of me also liking this? Seems to have great reviews.

    • I havent played it yet but i would recommend watching some videos on it to decide whether or not its something you think you would be interested in and if you end up buying it and you dont like it you can always sell it

An awesome game I had the pleasure of experiencing last year. Animations and flow of combat is super buttery smooth, has some nice light rpg elements so you can tailor your playstyle how you like it, and so many thematic gems and little details (like how your boosts and powerups are actually computer chips that take up memory slots within your body, and how you can input a button combination to initiate self-destruct mode) that make you appreciate the effort they put into the game.

The story wasn't anything MINDBLOWING, but it was thought-provoking and immersive and kept me hooked to learn more about the world and what was happening. I loved how the theme of humanity was expressed through robots and androids. And also just the way the story unfolds in a way that can only truly be expressed through the medium of video games.

Also the music is INCREDIBLE. One of the best soundtracks i've had the pleasure of hearing.

9/10 would recommend even without the waifu bait.

    • Been playing it these past few days.

      Really enjoy it.

      And soundtrack is top notch.

Heads up, folks. Amazon has restocked, and it's currently back at $34.

  • Anyone receive theirs from Amazon? I just got mine and it has been released with a heat gun and melted the damn case

    • If you're talking about just the wrinkles on the back of the outside case its normal.

Just make sure the artwork cover isn't damaged.

      • Yer that’s what I meant. Its normal?

        • I've had it on a few of my games in the past few years (Persona 5 Royal, Little Nightmares, Dragon Quest Trasures, etc.)

So its not really from a specific developers games.

Could have been a bad batch of cases supplied

        • @Twisty i was also sad about the wrinkles on the back of the case as it was brand new sealed! And then, my new copies of crisis core and diofield chronicles have the same thing. Now i am thinking it is a square enix thing.

  • Was it shrinked wrapped or factory sealed

Mine was stringed wrapped like they do at JB and the wrinkles are caused by the heat gun that shrinks the wrapping

    • i don't know what it looks like with the factory sealed. I bought Nier automata from JB and crisis core from amazon. Both were sealed with shrink wrap. Diofield chronicles wasn't sealed when i picked up from EB. That's because EB likes to stick a whole bunch of stickers onto the case. All have the same pattern of wrinkles.

    • OK, now i have a look at one of the ATLUS games that i owned. US version. The seal looks different and there is no wrinkle on back of the case. Maybe this is the factory sealed.

  • Factory seal is when it’s done neat with little folds in the plastic on the edges

Shrink wrap is when it’s shrunk with heat on and doesn’t have these folds and is also a much tighter fit. This is bad coz sometimes the heat kills the case. JB always do this

    • JB isn’t the one that does these switch games

I’ve had same issues from Amazon games too

      • Yer but JB shrink wrap all their games switch Playstation Xbox

I know as my mate works there and told me this when I asked him why

    • +1

Interesting. If that's the case, all the ones with wrinkles (they all have the exact same pattern!) are factory seal! The atlus game (US version) that i owned is shrink wrap and doesn't have the wrinkle.

In any case, I LOVED the game. Great deal! I bought on release day as I couldn't wait to play. One of the best games that i had played in 2022.

  • UPDATE for anyone subscribed! Looks like they've relisted it as $34 https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0B737N18Z

Unfortunately can't report this post as "back in stock" per the rules, as I previously reported this post as expired
