  • Blue Mechanical Switch

  • Canceled my order. Hardly any reviews and no mention of the brand of switches.

    • Maybe HyperX derived considering HP owns them now?

    • Also, apparently only the S model has custom RGB. The non S is stuck on rainbow.

It's not really rainbow I think e.g. no animation. If the product picture looks like that then each row is a fixed colour like the kogan special edition keyboard.

Edit: If anyone wants proper RGB animations, spend a little more for the Motospeed K87s. https://www.amazon.com.au/MOTOSPEED-Mechanical-Transparent-A…
It even has transparent bottom and underglow RGB with it's own animations.

Still bargain basement price, but the Motospeed was my first ever mech keyboard. I got it for around $43 and it still works properly to this day.
Also here's a tip: It comes with a transparent plastic cover for the bottom don't throw it away! keep that on the bottom of the keyboard (it protects the side as well it's like a tray) and you will never scratch the transparent case. It even has square opening's for the feet to go through so you can keep it on when using the feet for more height.

The reviews I've found elsewhere say it's Kailh Blue switches. Which are decent budget switches if you like clickies. Although they apparently have a silicon skin over the switch itself, which may affect the bottom out feel? And apparently has rattly stabilisers, but not like you're going to hear them over blues, nor are you likely to get good stabs at this price.

Have a look for yourself. Review was positive, but it doesn't look like anything special.

what's with these? I've only really used a regular keyboard (whatever my work provides) for about 15 years.

Don’t try one. It will ruin all other keyboards for you once you do.

You make it sound like this keyboard is actually good! lol.

      • still have old keyboards that outdo poor quality control / tolerances of many mechanical keyboards

        • +1

This is true. Vintage keyboards were bulletproof and made to perfection.

Even their tolerances for switches and keycaps were superior to modern day switches/GMK keycaps etc.
You can get wonky legends (inconsistent letter thickness, tilted letters) with double shots on modern keycaps even the top dog GMK ones. But I have never seen a vintage double shot keycap with wonky legends.

Makes sense though because GMK uses the original Cherry moulds, the double shot moulds are getting old and quality control seems to be worse as well. While vintage double shots were probably using relatively new moulds.

the font on those keycaps is horrendous…worse than kogan's. it's like hp picked one of those cheap generic mech keyboards and slapped their logo on it.

picked one of those cheap generic mech keyboards and slapped their logo on it.

The vibe I’m getting. Hence the cancellation. I don’t need more junk.

    • Yep. Classic cheapo font. Same on every single one of these types of keyboards.

But.. but.. that's Gaming Master race font!! 😜

      • do these fonts add much value

        • +1

No but they automatically earn you entry into Gaming supremacy. 😂

  • looks like none removable cord, is already a deal breaker.

    • Same with the Motospeed K87s I recommended in a comment above. But what can you expect for around $40?
