      It is insane to me that Coles will run an unlimited 15% off sale on their gift card website but won’t even do 30x points on their in-store promotions which have caps.

            @freelife: True, but keep in mind that was for App Store & iTunes gift cards, and before July 2021, those gift cards could not be redeemed at the Apple Store. Hence the frequency of discounts (and relative lack of interest) for those App Store & iTunes gift cards deals!

      The issue for you is that Coles says in their Vanilla Visa gift card deal terms:

      Vanilla Visa Gift Cards cannot be used to purchase any other gift card sold at Coles.

      I know that Coles has implemented BIN checks when you attempt to use a Vanilla Visa gift card to purchase some gift cards in their stores (e.g. another Vanilla Visa gift card), which means their payment system will automatically stop you from using a Vanilla Visa gift card and display an Invalid Product Mix error. I do not know whether Coles has implemented BIN checks for Apple gift cards.

      If there is no BIN check implemented when purchasing an Apple gift card, the next issue is that Coles will ask for a PIN for purchases approximately over $35, which means you have to go through the signature verification process. The checkout will print out a slip of paper for you to sign, then a staff member has to look at that signature and compare it to the signature on the back of the card (and maybe even the signature on any ID you are carrying, if they want to go further for some reason). The staff member you deal with will have to look at the back of the card you want to use (i.e. Vanilla Visa), and if they are paying attention and care enough to enforce the clause listed above, they can reject the signature and you will need to pay another way. Actually, they can decline the signature for any reason (e.g. they do not feel comfortable with signature verification and want to force you to use PIN verification).

      … and before you start thinking that you could quickly switch out the Vanilla Visa gift card for a physical Visa debit / credit card you may have on you, the issue is that signature verification was removed for nearly all transactions conducted in Australia using Australian-issued cards in 2014, so staff may be suspicious if they see a customer wanting to go through the signature verification process.

      No, you cannot use Flybuys Dollars to pay for any gift cards at Coles.

      As soon as you swipe your Flybuys card on the EFTPOS terminal, you will get an Invalid Product Mix error on the EFTPOS terminal screen.

    How do you get 50K points? The highest apple card I can find in the store is of $200 value. So if I take 5, I end up taking $1000. Hence, $20k points. What am I missing

      Variable load can go up to $500.

      $500x5=$2500
      $2500x20=50000 Flybuys Points.

    Thanks OP. Disney + is expiring in a couple of weeks and the kids want to keep it despite the ridiculous increase in subscription price. At least this will ease the pain slightly.
