Before anyone asks if its any good.
I got mine during black friday last year, and it has been wonderful and worth every cent I spent on it.

    • Got this last time it was on here. Fantastic air fryer. Easy to use interface, easy to clean. Does a good job

    • Agree it's been great
did have a bit of a burnt smell but after a few burn-ins it's been running great

Purchased it for 125aud during last promo but couldn’t complain. Worth every cent. Definitely an upgrade fr my Ambiano.

  • Bought it for $125 recently and it has been used about a dozen times already. Worth every cent.

    Good machine.

  • +1

Can't really think of a reason to use it, anyone?

    • If you rely on a fan forced oven to heat your place in winter then you don’t need one :)

    • More efficient than an oven, and it doesn't heat up the entire kitchen.

A decent air fryer will cook two chicken kievs perfectly in about 12 minutes.
You can also throw a bunch of chopped vegetables into it and roast them in roughly the same time.
If you're doing onion, only cook for about 9 minutes.

    • Super fast to pre-heat. Just faster to cook stuff in.

    • Our regular over takes about 30 minutes to get up to temp, this does it in 5.
Cooks in less time as well.

      • Our regular over takes about 30 minutes to get up to temp

Seems like there may be an issue there?

        • +1

Yep, it's s cheapy that the landlord put in. We'd put a decent one in ourselves but he's talking about developing the place and kicking us out so they can bulldoze the house. :(

So we opted for the 10L Instantpot Air fryer when it popped up here a couple of months back. :)

    • Yeah ever since I got this I have only turn my oven on once. Used it as a pie warmer

  • Any Amazon links for paper liner reccomendations for this?

    • Same question here

    • My misso insists on paper lines but its sooooo annoying imo as the heat doesnt come up and around properly from under the thing you are cooking eg chicken drumsticks or a load of chips.

You CAN get perforated ones but defeats the purpose…

I personally just put it through the dishwasher every 2-3 cooks.

      • +4

Get silicon inserts that have a raised floor to still allow air to get underneath.

        • I have the tefal FX202D at home, the one that ozbargainers went crazy for when it hit $159 but problem is internal space is not that much. Sometimes some of the bigger chicken drumsticks even get a bit burnt as too close to element.. let alone adding a insert with spacer :(

        • do you have a link for these?

        • Get an air fryer that doesn't need to be MacGuyvered out of the box.

      • do you have a link for the recommended perforated ones?

        • I got mine through amazon but the one i got isnt listed anymore.
it looks practically identical to the others on there atm though when you search 'perforated liner air fryer'

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: thanks what size do you use?

            • @truebunny: not sure it was actually just 1 size i thought, it kind of is a bit too big, it went up the sides too, i just cut a slit on 4 corners so it can go up the sides nicely.

  • Bought this the last time it was posted on OzB. Much better than my ~$50 woolworths one.

How does this compare to something like the Philips XXL?

    • I only have this one because it is way cheaper. But I cannot see any problem with it that I would spend more to fix.

    • I have both and find the Philips XXL a bit better. The XXL tends to cook more evenly particularly if you stack things. However if you shake and flip with the vortex enough while cooking you basically achieve the same result for a fraction of the price.

I think the XXL has a much better design as far as air flow is concerned since air can flow around the sides and up through the bottom. Where as the vortex is just blasting air from the top straight down.

    • I was a sceptic of the whole air fryer game (having tried the Aldi variant with great disappointment) but the XXL has been amazing; worth every cent. Some things cook (rather "taste") better than others; meats with a little fat are just mint - like chicken wings… dayyum, son!

  • Thinking about getting one for work. Had anyone used it to do instant noodles? Does it smell much if you cook chips or chicken?

    • +3

      air fry instant noodle?

      • It has a reheat function. Presumably if you are able to reheat soup and water, you can cook instant noodles.

        • +2

          Uhm… I guess you can..

I normally just add boiling water to my maggi 2 min noodle and just eat it like that :/

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Doesn't quite cut it for the thicker Korean/Japanese noodles. And I like to add an egg and biltong to it too.

  • +1

edozer have it for $100.99 with free shipping if anyone wants to take a chance

  • dang just bought and started the 3-in-1 airfyrer and oven combo from kmart last week

  • Bought it for a little more than this but happy so far

  • Is this a lot better than the Anko Kmart one? Not sure if I need both.

    • +1

I got one of those Kmart ones they're awesome, we use it a few times a week.. can fit more in on the trays and chip rotisserie basket is great.. had it a few years and still going strong

    • +2

i bought the Vortex after using Anko one at work, Anko controls are more basic but they do much the same thing.
Anko one has much deeper tray area/can do a whole chook. The Anko Tray/Bowl can be taken out separately to clean, but has bad design with a sharpish metal clip in the bowl.
I havent been able to cook exact same thing in each to compare quality, but really don’t see the point in replacing what you have.

  • Is the cooking tray really dishwasher safe? My current one's Teflon coating starting peeling off.

    • I am pretty sure it said do not use dishwasher somewhere?

Have been super easy to clean with warm water, dishwashing liquid and a sponge so far.

      • The website said "the cooking tray is removable and dishwasher safe". Seems can't trust it.

        • No idea. I think I read it on the packaging somewhere so I never tried to put it in the dishwasher.

    • +1

Its impossible to put non stick in the dishwasher and not damage it every time until the point where it will start to peel etc.

Any company claiming something non stick is dishwasher safe is simply lying.

    • The tray insert is dishwasher safe, the actual main bowl is attached to the handle and can’t be put in dishwasher.

Ive put the tray on the top shelf in dishwasher once , but usually wash it by hand as i’m dubious the non-stick coating won’t eventually get damaged.

  • +1

Bought this last time it was this low. Super happy with it!

Highly recommend gettint some souther fried chicken from coles and banging it in one of these. Better than a bucket!

    • I’m going to try this. Thanks for the suggestion

      • My pleasure mate, it's so good

  • +1

The 4l model looks very different, would it be an older model? And is it worth having the larger size of the 5.7l model?

    • second this question, interested to hear people's thoughts before I purchase

    • +1

The main downside of airfryer is capacity. If you are cooking for 1 or 2 people, usually its no problem (albeit you cant fit a whole chicken in it or large meat pie or whatever) and you cant cook two things at once (drumsticks and chips - out of luck).

But so long as you plan ahead and use it appropriately, its fine

However, if you need to cook for 3+ people then you will struggle with quantities. So a larger one is better, albeit that you still probably cant cook a huge quantity for 4 adults/teens

in short - smaller one is fine if you only have 2 people, larger one is needed if you have more people or you want to cook more at once.

      • Thanks, half the time its just me, the other half I have my two kids, sounds like the bigger one is the safer bet.

    • +1

The 4l one is all manual control. Very inaccurate. I returned it.

  • Thanks, just ordered one!

  • i know silly question, obviously this is a premium product in comparing to mine, what would be the difference between this and cheap ones like one from aldi/woolworths? is it they it cooks, tastes , cooking time , cleaning that's better?

  • +1

I don’t think there’s much of a difference really. They are all designed on a basic heating element with a fan.
The bowl shape/design seems to be the main difference

Ive used a cheap kmart one at work , there’s some design things i like/dislike about both.
I havent tested like for like food brands in each , but i havent really noticed a major difference in cooking quality.

  • I have a Mistral 3.7l and use it alot.. is a 5.7L much bigger in terms of surface area… I can barely fit a small plate of chips in this one.

  • Any chance that Harvey Norman or Target will price match this?

  • I paid $200 for mine in 2022, I thought it was a gimmick but we use it more than the real oven. And I mean for Cooking not reheating, does a great roast.
At this price it's a good purchase.

  • Air Fryer Mat, 2 Pack Air Fryer Liners Food Grade Reusable Silicone Liners for Air Fryer Antiskid Silicone Pads Air Fryer Accessories (21 cm/8.5inch) https://amzn.asia/d/4MWDdme

Any thoughts on a slicione liner for this. I am a bit skeptic cooking directly on Teflon. Looked at perforated parchment papers as well. But will have to use some inserts with them unless the holes line up exactly. Anyone who has this model, can you tell me the internal basket size so that I buy right size paper/silicone liner? Thanks

  • Got one in the last deal and it just fits a coles medium chicken (1.5-1.6kg) inside.

  • What's people's opinion on this size vs a dual air fryer? (9L dual). Thanks

  • +1

It’s gone. Just used ones now 🤢

    • Ah so that's it, I spent ages trying to work out why it wouldn't let me buy one :(

      • Never heard of edozer.. Have you used it before?

        • people have used and received items, but I can't vouch for them, never used them. If I did use, I would try to use Paypal, if an option for payment, just in case

      • The menu options all shows computer related parts. Best to avoid.
