Violet down to $62 as well for those interested.

  • Each colour a different game or just different game covers?

    • +2

Same game with some differences like different exclusive Pokémon.

    • Games usually come in pairs so you'll have the same generation game with same content except different exclusive pokemon.

Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl (bdsp) is the same remake generation.

Scarlet and Violet (sv) is the latest generation that came out end of last year.

I've never played a Pokemon game outside of Pokemon Go so I also didn't know until reading this.

        • +3

Could be a parent looking for a gift also.

          • -2

@Spendmore: The age of your average parents now days would mean they grew up in peak Pokemon hysteria.

            • +1

@PainToad: A lot of adults have never had any interest in videogames, they may have heard of pokemon but not enough to know there are 2 releases each generation.
Lets just say a grandparent asked then?

      • I think you'll find equal amounts of disdain about your ignorance about many other facets in life by other people in ozbargain.

          Like?

  • Can these be played offline? How about by multiple players on the same screen?

    • +1

Yes to offline, only need online to trade and battle but it has a whole single player campaign

There is kind of multiplayer in the underground but u basically don't interact, its only online for that part, I wouldn't really count it

Violet has multiplayer on same screen (through local play AKA 2 switches or online)

      • Thanks. I was looking for an old school game where you don’t need Internet to play with your mates in split screen or something like that.

        • Not old school but Screen Cheat and Boomerang Fu are fun multiplayers..

        • Can rate boomerang fu, amazing game. I'd also recommend death squared if you like couch co-op puzzle game.

        • +1

Mario Party Superstars, Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate all fit the bill perfectly.

    • -3

Have you never played a Pokémon game before?

      • Me? Never! But I wanted one for a switch that many can play, maybe split screen?

        • That really blows blows my mind. You should give them ago.

The main Pokémon games are RPGs, not the type of games that would work split screen.

  • +1

Any Sword or shield for sale?

  • Finally can get this in a good price

  • Thanks!!! Just purchased one.

  • Wish let's go eevee and pikachu would go on sale

You're better off just playing platinum instead if you want the best generation 4 experience, these remakes were quite disappointing. I'd still recommend them at this price though, and it's a relatively approachable Pokemon game for new players too.

    • +1

Platinum ain't cheap or easily accessible though

      • +1

It is only if you are happy to play on an emulator. Otherwise yeah it's not very accessible to most players and playing off emulators isn't ideal. Offical eBay prices for cartridges are also horrific.

I know the game was outsourced but I still don't understand why they didn't include platinum content such as the distortion world since ORAS even had a rayquaza side quest; it wasn't emerald but better than what BDSP aimed for.

    • To save $4-$7? Hardly seems worth it
