Cheapest option for second phone number

Hey all,

Looking to get a second phone number to use just for business purposes. Hypothetically I would only need it for incoming calls. E whole idea being to separate my business from my personal. All outgoing calls would be made privately from my original number.

Hit me with your best options that include or exclude the ability to make calls. Cheers!

Aldi mobile $5 365-day SIM, brand new number active for a year, great option for incoming only. Just recharge the credit if you need it. Next best thing is amaysim $10 (has eSIM)

    • Aldi don't have esim.

No one said that Aldi has eSIM.

      • Only mentioned that amaysim does

$60/yr for existing amaysim users (you will need to own a SIM plan first before you can switch to this)

$99/yr Amaysim plan for new customers. You can also get $15 Cashback with Shopback / $17.50 Cashrewards

or $120 Small FLEX Kogan. Pro-tip: Look for discounted Gift Cards that you can convert to Kogan.

If you don't ever don't call out you can just go on any Pay-as-you-go plan from Lyca / Aldimobile etc.

  • What happens when you miss a call and need to call them back, you'll use your main number? Then clients will save that number too, which defeats the whole point. And you'll need to text them back too surely. And I bet you'll want visual voicemail. I don't think a $5 SIM with no credit on it will cut it.

OP can call back with their personal number as private.

  • Look at Colesworth Lebara sellout, usually under 1/4 new price.

  • Some ISP will provide phone service for nixs with your broadband internet.

  • Depends how long you need to be receiving calls for ?

Longest 1.5 years is the mentioned in first comment,

If you just need for like 3-4 months, then Lyca mobile $1 is cheapest right now.

If you can wait, you can get Boost mobile for about 7 months, (and be paid in surplus after cashback)

If you want your number to be instantly destroyed after 1 month of use, then Kogan's $5 sim is best option.

If you want my opinion, you can start with Lyca mobile $1, order sim, (wait for delivery), in mean time, before expiry of sim order Boost with Cashrewards deal, and then port after 6 months to another provider and then back to boost.

Free VoIP line and phone number in association with your broadband plan.

  • Optus flex $1 recharge every 180 days …

edit: oh wait looks like they're scrapping the $1 recharge option for those who sign up from 31/3/23…. see CIS at https://www.optus.com.au/prepaid/plans/flex

i suppose this would mean a year is 2x$7=$14 instead of 2x$1=$2
