Citizen Eco-Drive CA4500-24H Chronograth Solar Watch $229 Delivered @ Starbuy

490

Spotted this gorgeous Citizen watch for $229, a clever combination of grey tones with gold accenting the face for contrast, it's a beautiful looking chronograph with solar power, meaning it'll keep ticking for 6 months from a full charge and you can judiciously play with its functions without worrying about power. It is 44mm across so won't fit smaller wristed men (<16cm circumference imho)

It's not the cheapest it's been (previously $199 in February) but I still think it's a bargain for a solar powered watch and a beautiful purchase.

44mm Case
Eco Drive Chronograph
100m water resistance
Mineral Glass
Leather band

Hi Dead, there's 2 other chronos for the same price in the Weekend Sale.

Also the Stardeal has 3 Citizen Eco-Drives $169.00 each.

      Yooooo CA4500-16X is gorgeous!!!

      • +5

Yo bro, sure is. I found a short clip which shows it better.

        • 100% on my list now .. one day one day

The finish on that watch is exceptional and a good chunky strap too.

That burglar makes neat videos of stuff he's nicked.

Can confirm, I own the 16X. It looks better in person then it does in the pictures. Especially with the tan strap it has a real 'tally ho chaps' aviator feel about it

      • Agreed! Unfortunately most of Citizen's range don't work on my skinny wrists T_T

Thanks for the link, just bought the CA4500-16X

Thanks for post - been waiting for the tan and cream version to go on sale for quite some time!

  • I quite like the colours.
    It's pretty large, though.

  • Better than a rolex

  • Tidy looking watch….imitation being the sincerest form of flattery of course (Omega Speedmaster)

The battery is rechargable by solar so you don’t have to keep buying new batteries and throwing away old ones. Same concept as banning single use plastic bags, plastic straws etc (ie use re-usable parts not single use).

    • +2

As of 2007, the company estimated the drive system had eliminated the disposal of ten million batteries in North America.

I really liked the oris chrono, was available yesterday but sold out today

The Oris Artelier? It's not a chrono24 but it is a beautiful watch. I love the guilloche style dial of this watch.

      • +1

Yeah sorry not a chrono but the 3 subdials are actually nice and meaningful. Then the small moonphase at the top is discrete and cool.
I have an Artix which is similar but my moon phase is not a cool graphic but rather on the outer rim of of the dial.
        Much prefer this

I would rather those complications than a chrono which I would realistically never use.

I just noticed my autocomplete typo. You can tell I both typed that on a phone and spend too much time looking at watches. πŸ˜…

          • @O15: Hahaha I knew what you meant. I've always wanted to buy a watch from there but never had the courage as I still like physical stores.
I also agree I would never use a chronograph either so the complications of 24 hr day and date are fare nicer.

Just ordered the bulova lunar pilot. Really nice purchase at the 500-600 price bracket if it's not too big for you.

Posted this a month ago for $199, post didn't take off though.

Can anyone tell me how the 30 base pulsations heart thing works though?

Also thinking about getting this mesh band - https://www.geckota.com/en-au/products/oblique-milanese-mesh…

    • +2

It's exactly how the description, errr, describes it.

From zero, count 30 heartbeats. Where the second hand stops on the bezel is your BPM.

    Citizen? Pffft…

    Addidive 😎

  • Oft, got the Panda from last months post but digging this tan face..

What do you reckon @WatchNerd, think it'll look good on me? Or save like $100 and try a SteelFlier? πŸ˜…

    • +2

Turns out I thought it might look good on me..

As long as you don't remove the stickers/covers, Starbuy allows returns.

        • Thanks for that, yeah, I considered returning one of the 2, Bulovas I got in 2 different colours but I think I double checked yesterday and they only allow returns up to 45 days.. πŸ˜ͺ

Then I thought, maybe I'll just resell it because it's in the perfect conditon (that as you noted, StarBuy would generally accept as a return) but infact, StarBuy still has it at my "on special" purchased price so maybe not much lucky that way either.. Unless I get a non-OzB buyer who doesn't know of or trust Starbuy. πŸ˜… It's still like $550 on eBay and $750 at Kogan..

So it's like, "Starbuy, I hate you.. but I love you.." πŸ˜‚

I agreed with you Deadalready, this is a very attractive watch, the best I have seen on OzBargain over the last year. It is very rare for me to agree with others in aesthetic matters.

Lot going on there & those colours don't make it easy to read the time.. which is the main point of it. Better stuff around IMO (and not a fan of skeletons either).
