  • What's the RRP of these?

    I assume the S8s are a pre-order since they're not in stock?

  • I would personally recommend Ecovacs T9 Plus for $1,198:

      Why? The new mopping in the S8 seems to be (in the few demos from earlier in the year) a step up from even the ecovacs. Is there some reason in particular you think the T9+ is the better choice?

      • +1

        Comes with auto-empty station which is very helpful, better mapping and almost completely avoids obstacles and getting stuck. Cleaning is also much superior (compared to S7 at least). I previously owned S7 and moved to Ecovacs T9 Plus and overall experience is much better than S7.

          I've heard nothing but bad things about there Ecovacs mapping from OzBargain, so Roborock must be pretty terrible!

          I just bought an Ecovacs, so hoping for the best.

          • @spirrowhack: Roborock isn’t bad, its just that my overall experience with Ecovacs is better than S7.

          • @spirrowhack: I have a Ecovacs 920 and the mapping and general app experience is disgraceful. Just look at the respective App Store reviews and you'll get a good idea.

            • @Mic111: It's actually been fine for me, so I'm releived. Better than Dreame just making up new parts of the house or turning my map on an angle slightly.

    Are these pre-order? I was under the impression that roborock has not yet released the S8 pro ultra in Australia. Also any idea on what the warranty situation is like? Is bing-lee considered a grey-market seller?

    • $2700 for a vacuum cleaner though.

      looks at upright hoover with powercord…

  • Wouldnt the s8 pro just be better to get then the s7 maxv for a $1 difference.

    • I think s8 pro is better based on specs/features. That's probably the reason S7 maxv is now going down and into clearance. I hope s7 maxv ultra also goes down further

  • i'm a newb to all the robot vacs but have been thinking about getting one for a while… considering the S8+ (for the auto empty) or the Ecovac T10 plus.

    Based on price - the Eco T10+ seems reasonable but there's just so many complaints about the mapping/software - for the peeps with experience, how does Roborock's software compare?

  • Why is s8 pro , which is a newer version same price as S7 max v? Is it because the object detection on maxv is better with cameras ?

    • +1

      That is odd indeed, especially on clearance, I was hoping for like ~$900 for S7MaxV.

      Based on previous naming conventions, the S8 Pro, should be the same as the S8 Pro Ultra - (minus) the dock.

      If that is the case, I would take the S8 Pro over the S7 MaxV (based on same price)
      New useful features (imo):
      * Dual (main) brush
      * Stronger suction (6000 vs 5100Pa)
      * Auto (main) brush lifting (during mopping I assume)

      Negatives (for some)
      * Smaller bin (350 vs 400ml)
      * 1.5Db louder

      Other main features carried over.
      Camera assisted object avoidance. (The top feature I'm looking for in my upgrade search)
      Usual LIDAR.

      • FYI, they removed the camera from the S8 and just have a infrared sensor….

  • It seems that it's possible to buy the auto water filling/draining module from taiwan to install it here. Not sure if the app will work with it.
