the razor for $10 is cheap but blades are cheaper on amazon and ebay.

Totally. Had to double check the $7.50 12 pack was for 12 blades?!

Astra/Derby/Shark (the usual DE suspects) etc. are ~$15 for 100 , still using my supplies from years ago.

  • Any comments on the performance of Astra/Derby shaving blades. I am curious to know how many times they can be reused. Could someone kindly share their thoughts and experiences on this?

My personal experience: Each edge of a blade is good for 3-5 shaves, with cheaper blades more likely to be just blunt i.e. an unusable edge on the first shave.

I bought a hundred blade mixed pack about 5 years ago, which had Astra, Derby, Lord, Gillette etc.

Astra and Derby are not as sharp (if that's a thing) when compared with Feathers, but Feathers are also more likely to bite when part of the blade starts to dull. I prefer the Feathers, but only get 3 shaves per edge, while Astra and Derby I'll get 5.

Just pay 27 dollars and get this Japanese made razor instead

    • That looks good. My post is a cheap option for people to try a DE safety razor. They can later get something half decent if they want to continue with this way of shaving.
