Pokemon TCG: Scarlet & Violet Elite Trainer Box $79 Delivered @ Target

100

New scarlet and violet ETBs are $79 only days after the set was released (31st March).

Most other places selling for $95 - $105

Kmart had the same price but was OOS everywhere over the weekend.

Good deal from Target may be able to be price matched elsewhere.

These new ETBs have 9 packs compared to usual 8 packet in regular ETBs (note that special releases like Pokemon Go & Crown Zenith had 10)

The single blisters are $5 at Target which is probably the better deal tbh!

Kmart usually takes a few days before they start showing up in stores, so not quite out of stock as such. They're also in the bad books with banter for releasing some of their stock early at some stores!

    • Definitely a better deal. $45 for 9 packs vs $79 for 9 + other stuff people usually set aside and forget. Better spending that $79 on 15 blister packs.

      • Agreed. The ETBs now all have a promo card to help which is nice, the sleeves are pretty neat too. They make good storage boxes as well though! But definitely only worth getting one.

  • My sons just starting to get into Pokémon. I’m lost with how much there is to it nowadays! Can someone tell me, how do I go about getting a base set (kanto?) of Pokémon cards? And obviously not original, can I get replicas or something?

    • +4

Unfortunately it doesn't quite work that way. Each generation of Pokemon cards has a number of sets that all have different Pokemon in them. So if you were purely just after Kanto, you'd have to look at multiple sets.

The good news is that now that Kadabra cards can be made again, later this year there will be a "Pokemon 151" set, which should have every Kanto Pokemon in it! So best to wait for that one if that's your goal :)

      • Hi there, would you be able to link me more info on this? I had a google and could only find info about the japanese market not the TCG

        • The "Pokemon 151" set has only been announced for the Japanese market, no word for English yet.

        • Yeah nothing for English yet, we're a bit behind the Japanese market for set announcements and Japan only had it announced a few days ago. So should be announced in a month or 2, due later in the year

          • @happychild100: Exciting, I've started watching the original series with my son so I'm super keen for a re-release of the original gen for us to play with. Fingers crossed the TCG comes through!

    • AliExpress has many fake Pokémon sets.

    • there are websites which sell individual cardss
      cardboard gamer, game center etc

you look for the cards u want and grab them
i did do that to get all 151 orginal :)

      consider getting the battle academy
      its a great starter

then is down hill from there hahahha, boosters, sets, packets (amazon is quite cheap, toys r us, gamesmen, even EB has sales)

These look like packaging boxes for condoms.

Did this just suddenly go out of stock for anyone else?

  • best value card could be Miriam #251 which has potential value of above $200 according to pricecharting.com

    • +1

Nah they are dropping really quick. There is no value in this set. Miriam is all ready selling for $110 on the groups i'm in on facebook. Projected to be around $70 -$80 in a couple weeks

      • Is there a fun set to collect that you recommend?
Like one with good chase cards?

My brother and I want to get into it, 90s kids chasing that nostalgia but also want some chase cards in the set to get that feeling of pulling a good card

        • The celebrations set that came out last year would hit the nostalgia spot you're looking for I recon

          • @adamshere: Can’t see much in that?
Are the boosters easy to buy?

Even on my app doesn’t look like there’s many to collect for that one

Pretty good value if you assume each booster inside is $6. $4 for pin, 2 promos and a jumbo card. Would be really good if it had Evolving Skies. Looks to be 2 each of Astral Radiance, Lost Origin and Fusion Strike.

    • Wow this is a decent deal, usually $80

  • These worth starting a new collection with?
Brother and I want to get into it, but a few boosters every other week.
    Nostalgia mainly, 90s kids
