Would You Go to a Different Cinema or Fast Food Place Because of The Soft Drink Brand?

Went to Hoyts and had a prepaid medium combo voucher. To my dismay only Pepsi drinks were on offer. Bit of a downer on the whole movie experience if I'm honest. Some classic Coca-cola would have definitely definitely paired better with the on screen drama. Probably won't go back.

As much as I like a Zinger box from KFC, the fact that you can only choose a Pepsi drink really kills it for me. Would you avoid a cinema or fast food chain just because of the soft drink selection?

    No, byo food & drink
    .

    • Do you brink your own can of coke to kfc?

No, but I could see myself watching a byo movie though
        .

      • Just buy a 1.25L of your favourite drink and put it in your opaque water bottle.

Wear baggy pants and put a pack of Nobbys Nuts (on special of course) in the pocket.

        • Nice. I too like feeling my nuts in my pants at the cinema.

    Pepsi > Coke

Do they allow bringing outside beverages ?

Can I just be happy without the soft drink (probably yes)

Yeh, I definitely prefer coke over pepsi too. (I always BYO lines).

    Some people drink Pepsi,
    some people drink Coke
The wacky morning DJ, says democracy's a joke

  • Personally I prefer pepsi max > pepsi then coke but I am not fussed at all, for example KFC or McDonalds just offering different brands of cola. Hell, I really like Aldi cola….

But I bring my own snacks and drinks to the cinema, I understand you had a voucher but if you didn't like Pepsi, you could have gotten sprite/7 up or fanta? I am sure all cinemas would have those brands?

Unless you drink Coke only, then damn…..

    • I mean coke varieties (coke, sprite, Fanta) vs Pepsi varieties (Pepsi, 7 Up, sunkist). Regardless I do only drink Coke No Sugar. The king of soft drinks.

  • I prefer Pepsi Max.

But I go to the cinemas in Adelaide that serve alcohol. I still order Pepsi Max, but I blend in a bit more if I stink of the vodka I secretly pour into it.

    • I like your style. The last time I sneaked alcohol into the cinema I fell asleep and missed most of the movie…

      • Reminds me of my mother. While on shift she would take her clients to the movies so she had an excuse to sleep for 90 minutes.

  • I like Pepsi

  • Similarly Diet Coke seems to be not offered at some places; Coke No Sugar (aka Coke zero) being the alternative low calorie Coke product.

    • Never been a fan of Diet Coke. Once I got too old to drink full fat coke, Coke No Sugar was the obvious choice. I guess for boomers who reached the same point when diet was the only option, the lack thereof would be quite distressing.

dont drink any of it, have water.

    • Hello fellow hyrdohomie

  • Why aren't you smuggling in your own drinks? THIS IS SPARTA*

    <*ozbargain>

  • Coke > Pepsi but you know variety is the spice of life so I go with it. The bigger sway IMO is post-mix > bottled.

  • This poll doesnt surprise me, I'm more stunned that people still go to the cinema…

  • Not for the drinks no, but for the popcorn yes.

The popcorn at Village Cinemas is way better than Hoyts because they still pop their popcorn in a warmer and don’t pop it bulk and keep in a glass cabinet. Seats don’t recline but I prefer nicer popcorn compared to recliner seats.

  • There's nothing to stop you taking your own drink into the cinema. I even take beer in these days.

  • Mt Dew / 7UP if only Pepsi is available

    • I actually don't mind a bit of Mt Dew, but the sugar content just doesn't complement my figure

      • Honestly I only liked it when I was younger.. Nowadays I only drink it because of the gamer fuel marketing even then it sometimes tastes alright sometimes..
