Backyard Discovery Skyfort II Play Centre $999.97 Delivered @ Costco Online (Membership Required)

230

Costco are still trying to clear this. Sat at $1999.97 for a long time. I think they've had enough and knocked another $1000 off their price. Some places are still trying to sell it (or something very similar, the swings are a little different) for $3799 like Harvey Norman. Only ~$500 for delivery to me in SE Qld. Catch is selling the same one for $3699

Reviews aren't the best but that price is pretty good. Don't know how many they have.

This play centre will get all the kids excited for some outdoor fun. It has a raised clubhouse with wood roof, windows, covered entry way, and bay windows. The front porch comes with a sun balcony for plenty of shade. There is a crow's nest with telescope and lower deck with snack stand and picnic table. It has a standard ladder and open rock wall ladder, a 3m long super safe speedy slide, challenging monkey bars and two belt swings and one 2 person swing glider.

  • How difficult is it to assemble it? Is it a 1 person job?

    • +1

I wouldn't think so. I'd imagine you'd need at least two for quite a bit of it.

      • +1

The instructions would be saying 10+ hours assembly for 2 people. It is not a quick or easy job. Hire someone off AirTasker but be aware its expensive, easily 500 or more for assembly. Just because you can put an ikea side table together doesnt mean this will be easy.

I do this for a living so up to you if you listen or ignore advice 🙂👍

I mean at this price even if you paid 500-700 for professional assembly you are still winning compared to buying from Catch haha.

Still worth considering local parks unless none are nearby and this is your best bet

This will take multiple days for 2 people.
I had a smaller play centre than this and it took two of us a full day to do. Pain in the butt.

    • +3

Definitely 2 person job and will take 2 days to complete.

      • is it with bear breaks or without?

Once your kids have started school you will have seen you wasted about $1K and will have to pay someone to dismantle this and take it away from your yard.

    • THIS !!!!!

    • +1

Not a waste at all, our kids love it and I paid more than twice this for it.

  • +2

Parks are free, invest the $1k and give it to your kids for their house deposit instead.

      house deposit

Hey kids here is 10k I’ve saved up your deposit

Kids in about 15 years: Dad, the average house price is 5 million for a 400sqm …can we just stay in the garage till you die from old age?

      • Lol

      • +4

More likely 'Dad have you seen these great retirement villages?'
Followed by 'Can we demolish your house and subdivide?'

    • +1

      More like ipad deposit.

I picked something similar like this up for free off marketplace. A few coats of paint and a spruce up and it looks better than new, but took considerable time to paint properly.. but our young kids and nephews/nieces absolutely love it.

At $1000 - its decent value IMHO.

  • This looks great. My city council just spent $700k on new play equipment at the end of my street and that is half as good as this.

Do they round up or down if you pay cash?

    • Sam rules for everyone, 7 obviously rounds down.

Sometimes I feel like you comment on posts for literally no reason at all, except to use bold font, also for no reason at all

Young Padawan, you have bolded the important words. You need to learn that JV only bolds words of secondary importance.

      • He clearly has nothing better to do. Best to just ignore this muppet.

    Thanks for posting, bought 10.

  • The problem selling them has probably been that backyards are too small to FIT it now.

It looks like that orange chinese wood ive heard isnt very weather resistant. Is it?

    • It's Cedar. It is weather and insect resistant. I would still strongly recommend you paint it with decking oil before/during assembly, particularly if you live in a humid area.

  • Does this need council approval? It's 4m tall almost.

  • Out of stock for Adelaide from what I can see

Could almost buy 2 iPads for this price. Kids will get more hours out it than this thing.

i got one free off gumtree - took my dad & i 3 hours to partially dismantle it and at least 5 to reassemble by myself - here is a timelapse of the reassembly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxbQuK0w06Q

  • I mow lawns for a living and few of my customers have brought these over the years. Expect after a couple years the wood to look 10years old, timber of the bottoms wont last 5 years. There not good to be built on grass and need to be repainted to last
