  • 1080p 30fps?

    Quality?

    • +1

what fps do you want your webcam to be? colours and autofocus sharpness most important to me

  • +1

I use this and it’s fine.

  • Yup quality is great including mic. I bought this for work after having so many dramas with professional video calling equipment. For 60 bucks plus another 12 bucks for quality USB extension and it simply works. Mounted on a 60 inch display in a 8 seat room and mic pickup audio very clearly.

  • Curiously, what do people use webcams for these days?

    • +4

      Work. Income.

      • +3

It's amazing what people will pay to see on camera.

Work related would be provided by work place, no?

        • +1

Why would work pay for your home setup?

          • +1

@dav3: I have to say I am amazed at the number of people that don't understand this.

They expect the company to provide everything twice.

We will get everything you need to work, you can take it home if you want…
But you aren't getting a setup at the office you are never in and a setup at home.

Claim back what you can on tax and quit complaining

            • @Telios: We had people demanding keyboards, mice, monitors, 2nd laptops/Surface Pros for home "because they're too heavy to carry home all the time", free internet, and even personal mobile services put on the corporate plan when Covid hit and WFH became a real thing. The stupidity of humans stopped amazing me long ago.

              • @dav3: But did you EXPECT them to work from home?

                • @DingoBlue: The comms was something like "If you're able to work from home you are encouraged to do so", everyone had a portable device with a webcam, that means they can work. Hell one or two pricks even decided to put their allocated ultrawide monitor on their work chair and threw them in their cars.

It's not up to your employer to fit out your home office, that's what tax claims are for.

              • @dav3: Let me guess the Government workers right?

          • @dav3: Mine does.

The same thing they've always used them for? Working from home, video calls, creating really shit content to put on Youtube/Tiktok/Instagram/Twitch/whatever, e-whoring themselves because they're unemployable, etc

    • For fans only

    • My laptop is docked so I need a separate webcam for WFH :|

To ensure the the angle of the camera is at eye height. Too many people seem to not be bothered to have their webcam focused on their chin 🫠.

  • See the review before buying, looks cheap but compare to Logitech webcam at $100 price mark this still looks subpar. Also the mic doesn't sound good as well

  • Another contender in the cheaper class would be the Creative Live Cam V2 - for $44.95 https://au.creative.com/p/peripherals/creative-live-cam-sync…
Or the standard Logitech C922 for $99.95 at Amazon https://www.amazon.com.au/Logitech-1080P-Stream-Webcam-C922/…

I am not convinced by any of them … and better options like the new Insta Link 360 or the Elgato Facecam Pro are pretty expensive.

    • You should be looking at the Logitech StreamCam and the Razer Kiyo Pro in the price range of the C922, they're far more capable and updated. Phone camera capture is often better now though, and soon phones will have native support. There's absolutely no need to look at anything in the budget rang eother than the $100-$130 webcams I'm naming here.

Next shift will be proper 4K webcams, but this might be too slow to get price and quality competitive with the native phone support, as they're currently $400+, which is used DLSR/mirrorless territory.
