Part of the long weekend star buy specials - Such an absurd design and I love it. Best price I’ve seen so far and I’ve been monitoring it every few days since Rosebank made a post last time

No silver though - but imo the black is better and GOLD also available at $319 is literal perfection.

Ffs, I just spent over $300 on beer this arvo. And a few k at SUBTYPE the other night. I want both to complete the set but should be responsible and only get one. Super bad timing. I need to think about this one. Jfc I didn't even know Starbuy had these. I can't decide…. FUUUUUCK

      • +1

Fwiw I’m fairly sure they just got these as it wasn’t showing up in my searches

Ps what did you end up getting at subtype? The ones I even can half consider are always out of my size🥹

        • +1

I've only seen these irl at DJs, and only a couple online stores had them when I bought the silver one. I had to return a JDM Casio on Monday because the seller sent the wrong thing, and I'm still waiting for the refund. This would normally be a no-brainer-insta-cop for both but of course they go on sale at the worst time.

I think I'll get the gold because it's more expensive everywhere, and I can buy the black later for about $400. Even Kogan has them now

Legit sad my DBC611G-1D does not get enough wear time

      • +4

I can't understand why you don't wear it often. Surely 5318008 upside down NEVER gets old?

Imagine being high and thinking your watch could teleport you back in time.

    • +3

Sounds like you're already on the way.

  • $49 for the watch, $270 for the nostalgia

    • I have no nostalgia for this watch, $49 seems like a fair price…

Be careful. Just inspect the watch carefully when you receive it. I returned a watch for change of mind and without inspecting it on receiving. The came back claiming I made a dent to watch. I has never been out of its box, only once for checking the strap size.
I am still disputing their claim and Deepak does not response to any of emails. The dent does not look any think like a user dropping it. They send they watch without checking with buyer.

Bought the watch from this deal

They include a one page slip of paper to tell you to inspect the watch before wearing, adjusting etc. Most of the time, sometimes they don't. I just ditch the paper and start adjusting the bracelet straight away. There are some things you really can't do anything about like the infamous Seiko bezels, or second hands on Eco-Drives that are way off when they tick.

That watch looks like it has been dropped because of the postion of the dent/scratch. Maybe an employee dropped it, or maybe it was a return and they didn't inspect it before reselling it, maybe it's just bad QC that everyone missed. It's a shitty situation to be in for both parties, but the owner not responding to emails is a bad look. If I was Deepak I'll just send you a new one that I personally inspected. Just write off the ~$200 or whatever, that's nothing compared to the amount of traffic he gets from this site. Shit I've posted a few Starbuy deals and have bought a lot of watches from them.

      • I have in fact bought 3 more watches which are all gift watches. I have inspected the others after the issue with this watch.
I am pretty confident I didn't cause any damage because they have been in the box the whole time and stored a side safely.

Yeah mate, I believe you. In the age of internet and social media, you're better off calling out bs on twitter or in this case, OzB, especially if the owner is not responding over a dispute that'll cost him practically nothing. Starbuy is loved by this site, I've bought dozens of watches from them and have never had a problem. This is the first negative experience I've read about them on OzB. I would think they'd have CS on lock; why risk negative press over one watch?

Thanks for the heads up. Will go through all my recent purchases, including the cream Eco-Drive from last weeks Starbuy deal.

I don't think I've properly inspected ANY of my new watch purchases. Just quick glance and into the cupboard.. 😅

Watch box will hopefully arrive after Easter so I'll take them all out and give them a good look and put all the empty watch boxes into a big box.. 🤣

      • +2

Some watches I don't even look at and chuck the box in the pile of other unopened boxes

        • thank you. i don't feel as weird with you around ;)

        • Lucky you! I have one of those piles, but not full of watches.. 😅 Mainly shoes.. 🤣

But after the previous post, and confirming there's a whole page included with basically all the watches I've got, about making sure to inspect the watches when you receive it, I'm a little sceptical about how StarBuy manages to have these amazing sales all the time and how they manage to acquire the watches if this is genuinely not a user issue..

A little worrying and will make sure to crack out the gloves tomorrow morning and have a real good inspection of the 4x Citizens and 2x Bulovas I've purchased in the last 10 weeks.. (from StarBuy anyway) 😅

One is a legend and helped some ozbargainers get a sick deal on Alienware for AW3821DW $249.01 Delivered , and the other is me :(

  • Is the temperature gauge accurate on your wrist of does the watch need to be not worn for it to work?

    • +1

I believe you need to take it off for about 20 minutes for it to accurately read ambient temp.

      • Be good if that wasn’t the case :(

        • +1

You just need to stop your blood circulating down to your wrist for a couple of hours if you don't want to take it off.

      • From the photos it's also not a gauge but just digital display of temperature (which is better as it's not a steam engine).
