ROMOSS 30000mAh Power Bank 18W 3-Way USB-C QC3.0 PD Fast Charging Charger $30.59 Delivered @ romos_64 eBay

380
APRSAV10

Pretty sure this is not a super duper speedy hot stuff charger, but for the money, I thought this was a good 'un for those looking for a solid 30000mAh charger.
Can combine with another power bank from their range and get further discounts too. I bought an additional 20000mAh charger for a total of $56.00 delivered.
It was this one, to be precise.

Thanks! Hope it helps someone. :)
Have a great Friday.

note for 30k ones, need airlines approval

    • and not all airlines will allow them on board.

    • Yup, it seems to be 111Wh so no flights without approval.
(Do they actually approve >100Wh power bank at all?)

      • why not?
        (copying jv)

        • As far as I know they usually don't approve single piece >100Wh unless it's for a specific use (camera equipment, wheelchairs, etc.)

Or maybe just like bnh says they don't care anymore? IDK

          • +2

@xmagic: can be approved you just need to notify them of the unit and they will allow it. I have been given approval for this one previously

      • A friend carried > 100Wh pack to international QF flight 3x before and none of the crew asked. Its a massive brick too . Maybe they dont care now?

        • +2

and none of the crew asked.

          roulette….

if you get caught without declaring dangerous goods, there are big fines.

      • +2

Yes up to 150Wh. Qantas/Jetstar give you a 12 month permit online and you declare at check-in with Virgin.

      • Yeah with Qantas and Jetstar you send an email and they give you an approval letter.

Not trying to be annoying, but I'm just wondering why there are often so many comments about battery packs being taken on planes and whether they are allowed or not, nearly every time one is posted on Ozbargain? I mean it's like we are all flying to work or something, five days a week?😳🙄
And when we DO fly anywhere, possibly we tend to take a smaller slimmer battery pack, to obviously cut down on weight? So it's kind of irrelevant, to an extent anyway.

Comments ideally should be about user experience and reliability and price comparisons, not where the item can or can't be taken or used, which seems to differ anyway.

      Just IMHO. No offence intended.

While I'll agree, that this type of comment doesn't deserve a huge thread, I'm really glad people consistently post reminders on nuance like this that have real world implications. For some, this will be the first time they've seen the information. You've got some general assumptions I don't really agree with. People travel plenty and people buy all sizes of battery specifically for travel. I consider the beauty of ozbargain being it's a great collection of critical minds catching aspects you might not consider which extend past a general product review. That's my HO.

        • +4

You also make some good points! I must have just woken up grumpy today. My apologies. This website is kind of primarily about deals though, not general travel advice. It's a bit like posting a deal for First Choice Liquor and then having lots of people replying to it with lots of comments about duty free limits when flying into or out of the country. It's off topic. But having said that, I have benefited so much from other peoples experiences and random comments on Ozbargain. So I'll shut up now. Thanks for your very balanced reply.

we tend to take a smaller slimmer battery pack, to obviously cut down on weight

We tend to take the biggest pack that can feed us for at least a few days while we are away of power sourses and we don't keep it in a suitcase but put it in our pocket when they weigh our luggage.

        • +2

put it in our pocket when they weigh our luggage.

          Guilty as charged. Hehehe.

    • +3

Even after airline approval some baggage checkers will still take it.

      • …and then resell them on gumtree.

    • +1

Huh, i have this charger, and travel every other week. I have taken this as carry on at least 10 times.

      Oops

      • +2

You know what they say about rolling the dice.

      • Oops

You hear that a lot on the Border Security tv shows.

  • Pretty sure this is not a super duper speedy hot stuff charger

    Why not?

  • Seller feedback is not that good…

  • hmm so the 30k is only 18w, the 20k is 30w

    • -2

power and energy are different properties….

    • Well yeah, what does the total capacity have to do with the current delivery?

      • nothing i was expecting the 30k also 30w

      • +1

        with the current delivery?

Current delivery is Tue, 18 Apr and Fri, 21 Apr

        So most likely drop shipping.

      • Well typically to get more capacity you increase the number of cells which increases voltage.
But thats only if you improve the charging electronics.

        • Thats entirely dependent on the design. Very simple to add cells without increasing voltage.

          • @[Deactivated]: I mean, if you wire them in parallel i guess but then that increases current.
If you put more cells together it always increases something, but the battery control shit whatever it's called is probably the limiting factor here.
That or there's really just less cells in this thing. Maybe it's just a big pouch cell in there and the other one is a bunch of cylindrical ones.

            • @Lief: More current isn't a problem. In fact it's an advantage to allow higher charge/discharge rates.

The point is the statement that adding cells increases voltage is outright wrong.

I have two Romoss powerbanks, both stopped working after 6 months, I will not buy anytihing from this brand

    • +6

i got this same one a year ago and it's still working fine.

      • Same goes for me… and same goes for the heymix chargers that you all say are guaranteed to blow the fck up…. I don't doubt that these cheapo products go bad though

    • Xiaomi did the same for me. Bloody pissed! If anyone knows of any good powerbanks let me know

    • +1

I have 3 Romoss powerbank, more than 2 years already and all still working.

      • +1

I had 2 romoss that is way over 2 years. Still useful but gave it to my friends as i now have 2 xiaomi at 2 blitzwolf powerbanks.

    • same happened to me. Just died, while all the others are still going. And the case is glued so practically impossible to open.

No matter. I have enough drill batteries now that I can use them for that. A 20v/4ah has the equivalent energy of a 20,000mah powerbank, and if you connect a $5 cigarette lighter charger to it you can get whatever number of ports you like.

    • I've purchased six Romoss power banks over the last four years for myself, family and friends. All still trucking.

    • Same, mine just died after a while. No idea why. Really annoying.

    • At least it didn't burn your house down. Fun fact: these brand names that sound like they were randomly generated are used so unscrupulous Chinese manufacturers can keep churning out garbage and by the time the brand builds a bad reputation, they're already on to the next randomly generated brand name. Only an idiot buys this trash.

  • I have this and it works great. Incredible price, only does up to 18W PD so keep that in mind

  • Any other recommendations around thos
    Price

  • I have had a couple of Romoss chargers. Been reliable enough. I have had zero failures anyway. They are starting to die now, but they are a few years old.

    • -2

Same, I have a few, Romoss is the best value for money, the build quality is excellent, never had any issue with it, some other brands advertised the battery capacity turned out to be fake, but not Romoss, it's real.

Hi all, please don't purchase the 50W version one:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/353939301003?hash=item52686d228b…

I have two of these and all have the same charging issue which displays the error code 188. I suspect the same seller has multiple accounts opened on ebay as the seller I purchased is called Romoss-au which left Ebay around a year ago so I cannot claim the warranty. Spoken with Ebay which said that they cannot do anything due to the seller left. But I noticed that several sellers have the similar user name of Romoss.selling the Romoss power bank exclusively.

I need to point out that my experience is based on the 50W version one and you can definitely find the same issue on Amazon's review.

    • -1

I had the same issue with the 50w, obviously an issue with that specific powerbank. Can't believe they still sell it.

  • OOS

  • I know its been asked a bunch, but i am leaving for Europe for 6 weeks in May, what is a good and airline approved powerbank i can take with me? Also will i have issues with them at airports around Europe?

    • Go with Anker if in doubt.

    • Just stick with 20000mAh ones and you wont need to get approval from airlines
If 20k mAh is not enough. Bring 2 of them. Still won't need approval from airlines.

  • What size mah is suited for travelling? Dont want to get in trouble at the airport.

  • So anything 27,000mah or under is fine? Does that apply to all airlines if i am flying around Europe to London etc.

    • As far as i know yes but hand carry only. Don't put these in your luggage. Even if its within power limits they will confiscate it if its in your luggage.

      • Perfect thanks! Was looking up the cygnett charge up pro for $81 that was posted recently. 27,000 mah and says its airline approved. Is $81 steep though, is there a cheaper option?

        • +1

$81 is a little pricey. Why dont you get the cheaper 20k mAh and buy two of those. And just have it in your pocket when they do decide to weigh your hand carry.

          • @xoom: Could be an idea! Is it necessary to need 2 though? There is 5 of us but i am already bringing a gan 5 port charger for the hotel rooms.

            • +2

@Shanetrain: I bring two so i always have a fully charged one ready to go. Then the depleted one gets charged.

              • @xoom: Good point! I was just going to use it for quick top ups since i have the gan charger in hotel rooms. Picked up an s23 ultra recently so battery lasts pretty long also.

  • +1

This one is better from same seller? $53
ROMOSS Power Bank 20000mAh 2-Way USB-C 50W PD QC3.0 Fast Charge Laptop Charger
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/403968530803

    • I bought this powerbank and it's not able to do super fast charging on my S22 Ultra.
Weirdly, the 30w romoss powerbankI bought at the same is able to do super fast charging.
Not happy considering I paid extra money for a bulkier powerbank and it's slower than 30w powerbank.
