JR Pass Discounts

Hello!

Anyone found any ways to get JR pass for cheaper than circa $340 for the 7 day pass? Years ago Kloom allowed you to redeem the first time purchase 10% off code, but seems JR passes are excluded from every discount code these days.

Has anyone been able to find a recent discount with JR pass purchases or should I accept that no discounts are available?

Keep an eye out for cash-back deals for Klook via Cashrewards or Shopback.

Otherwise, there are no discount at this very moment.

They're crazy good value for what they are as it is.

Nobody is more pedantic than JR. Nobody rides for free in Honshu !
Back in 07 we paid like $600 for 3 weeks and railed every day so guessing around 4k's worth of single tickets. Only Shikoku island had some private lines not overed but they were great to us to give us free connecting rides and on 1 occasion a free green car upgrade.

Discounts are tough and if you use the JR Pass Calculator you'll probably feel better if it shows you're saving a lot. For me without the $680ish 21 day JR pass I'd be spending about $1300 on tickets.

  • Thanks everyone for your input! Yeah I definitely know it’ll be saving money however I’d always be up for more discounts. Looks like cash back is the only option, every Klook code these days excludes JR.

Anyone ever booked using the official JR website? The option to reserve is great but it’s $50AUD extra per person over Klook pricing

I did. I will save money with Klook unless I must travel on specific time during peak season.
The convenience is not worth the extra $50.

Buying from the official JR website is very new. From my understanding you get the digital exchange voucher instead of one mailed and it lets you reserve seats online

    • Just wondering what the 'official JR' website is? There's so many websites selling them. So only the official JR website can sell the ones that are $50 extra per person so you can reserve seats? no longer need to have a paper JR pass mailed to you? Thanks
