  • Good price however I'm still waiting for a deal of the V12. It's been a while.

  • +1

Any sick Gen5Detect deals comin up?

    • +3

Not that I know of sadly - also the MSRP has unfortunately increased on some models including Gen 5

      • Dang

      • Nooo I’ve been eyeing Gen5!

I wonder if any new models are on the horizon? I have an outsize, and a V8. I wish Dyson would offer a bin capacity larger than the official standard, but smaller than the outsize (which can be too large for many, a happy medium to compliment the power these sticks have now.

Also the Outsize models Larger Motorbar is so awesome and saves so much time. Hoping for a day they release a larger Fluffy head roller too to swiftly glide through hard floors in larger houses! One day 🤞

Edit: @Anthropomorphised I’m also your one Subscriber, your updates and information is always so helpful so thank you 🙏🏻

        • +2

At the rate I’ve been holding out I’ll be looking for a sick deal on Dyson 69

        • +1

I’m as in the dark as yourself! It’s certainly possible, I wouldn’t be shocked if they replaced the Outsize with a smaller version around 1.4/1.5L and the V15 adaptive suction eventually.
Personally I’m hoping that they make smaller batteries available as an accessory for V11 and up. I’m sure many people would be happy with a smaller and lighter battery for their quick and easy cleans and saving their larger battery for the full house cleaning.
Definitely with you on the head sizes, even if it were an optional accessory for other models.
Cheers for the follow, hope I’ve provided you with some insight.

  • Is this a wet and dry vac?

  • Not bad considering you’re getting the V11 for V8’s RRP

    What is the v11 RRP?

  • Very good price. Well worth getting this over v10 considering V10 on sale were still $600-700, whilst this V11 with better capacity/suction/battery and comes with a bonus battery.

  • Is the battery click and swap or still need a screwdriver?

    • Click and swap on all current v11 units

  • V15 absolute or this one?

    • 230 air watts for the V15. The v15 complete is also diff in that it comes with a built in crevice tool in the stick section. Recently these were $900 and $950.

  • Is it worth to pay 800 for V11?
I had v6 before It was very useful
    I don't know what's the dif things

    • +2

The two aren’t comparable (hyperbole), v11 is a huge jump from V6, 85% more suction, over 3x the real world battery life, 40% larger capacity and much easier emptying and maintaining. This is much more of a main vacuum than a quick spot cleaner

      • How does this go as a car vac? It would be perfect for the house but not sure about the car. We have a dyson barrel but it is a pain with the cord and having to lift to vac the boot etc.

        • Some of the higher end ones also come with flexible tubes which make them more agile for a car vacuum. They’re not wet vacs though so not for removing spills.

        • +2

I really like it for the main surfaces in the car like the seats, floor mats and boot, very easy with the hair screw tool. Only thing you would probably want is the extension hose which normally retails for $29 or $99 in the detailing kit to help you with the nooks and crannies. Some really awkward spots are still best with your corded unit but I find it makes the basic cleans quicker and easier.

          • @Anthropomorphised: Thanks for the reply & thank you for posting this deal. I had no problems grabbing it from my local at Marion instock plus all 3 bonuses. I paid with discounted giftcard from shopback which brought the price down to $775.03.

Do you think it is worth getting the detailing kit or just pick up the extension hose separately?

            • +2

@PAFC1870: Glad to hear you got a deal with the gift card! I’d say the detailing kit is only worthwhile if you have gloss plastics in your car and other surfaces that scratch easily as it has a dedicated soft brush for that. Otherwise I’d save the money and just get the extension hose, if you ask they should be able to get it down closer to $20ish if you’re lucky

              • @Anthropomorphised: Yep, i have glossy surfaces in my car. Guess i will be buying the kit then. Thanks again for the help.

  • If purchasing online, do you need to manually add the bonus items? or will they just be sent if I purchase the vacuum on it's own?

    • Check t&c’s - I believe needs to be added to cart but instructions are included there :)

      • No matter add 1 bonus or 2 or 3 into cart with $799 Dyson v11, it will add up the total and not only $799

      • Just saw the website it says in store bonus only

        • +1

As noted in T&Cs this is not the case. If it doesn’t work correctly I’d recommend calling your local store for them to place the order as they can manually override

  • Went into store they said can only choose 1 not all 3 bonuses

    • The way I read the t an c you get all 3 items

      Show them the document

      • I did, they insisted only 1

        • I can confirm I have purchased this and get all 3 bonuses

EDIT: I called them, pointed out their T&C includes online order as well. They helped me made the order over the phone. I'm omw picking it up on my local store

          • @Calvinx: That’s what I thought hence I went in, didn’t want to argue so I left.

          • @Calvinx: You called the store or head office? They told me to head office but it’s closed

            • @Ozbourne: Head office 1300 942 765. Made the phone call at 1645pm

              • @Calvinx: You are lucky. Just called and the dude said he can’t do. Ts and cs said ‘no eBay store and over the phone sales’ . the good guys system is just a joke.

                • @qzcbmo: Yes I also called, they can’t do it over the phone

  • -2

    Why compare V8 RRP?

    No Ozb will buy RRP.

I bought my V8 ANIMAL $420 last year @ Dyson official

    • +5

Because reference points are helpful in demonstrating value, nobody said any user here would pay RRP. This has the much improved tools compared to the animal and $348 worth of free tools on top of that - if you factor the value of the bonus tools, the V11 could be argued to be better value than the V8 at $420 given the improvements

  • Slightly off topic but has anyone had a Dyson repaired. We have a V10 that has been pulsing for a while and not sure if it worth getting it fixed? Bought June 2018 and very happy with it, but will service cost be massive and therefore would be better off buying this model on Monday

    • +1

Have you washed the filter regularly? That’s a blockage protection mechanism to prevent damage. I’d recommend trying instore at a retailer swapping to see if their display units filter works before getting a replacement. They should only be around $40 from Dyson. Hope this helps you

    • Definitely sounds like a filter issue like OP said, I encountered this issue, and washing filter only helped a little bit, but replacing them fixed it right away

      • Yes we have washed the filter regularly but never actually tried a new one. I'll give that a go on Monday and see what happens.

        • Would definitely recommend, I have two filters for my V11 at home, always good to have one ready, clean and dry and should extend the lifespan of each - I’ve found they’re usually good for 4+ years if cared for correctly but worth replacing every now and then

  • Has no issues grabbing in store, aside from the cleaning kit being out of stock and I have to wait for it to come in stock to pick that item up. No big deal.

  • Is it worth upgrading from V10?

    • +1

If your V10 is working well still, I wouldn't. It's a better vacuum, sure but if yours is working well, I'd save the money towards a bigger upgrade when you need one.

      • The V10 sometimes charges normally (blue light), but often turns into alternate red/blue lights, eventually the battery does not charge. Have changed to a new Dyson battery, same thing happening again, starting to think it might be a charger problem.

        • Sounds like it could be a charger issue like you say. Is it every time? If so, try see if the charging works at a retailer on their display stand and that should give you the answer

  • +1

Got it, absolutely over the moon with this deal. Been waiting for a Dyson deal to come up and super happy with it. Get in quick as my local said they'd already had a tonne of people come in and snap it up.

  • +1

Can anyone tell me if this head can deal with wife hair?? Pet hair is the least of my worries..

    • Yes, the new ones especially with the anti tangle floor heads so you aren't spending half an hour cutting the hair out like was required on the old ones

  • Do these things actually collect more than just fur? does it actually vacuum up small things like bits of cardboard or small sticks etc?

My V7 animal is great for dog fur, but (profanity) if it'll collect anything bigger than a grain of sand (and even those it can struggle with).
Battery is also shithouse too and usually cactus within 10-15 mins. (admittedly it's probably 3-4 years old but considering the cost of these things, fuark me).

    • +3

I'd say these are mostly for hair, dust and dirt. Problem you'll find with any stick vacuum is that the port likely won't be big enough, event with high suction to vacuum up sticks and cardboard. Small bits should work but I'd imagine larger pieces would catch and need to be removed.

V7 vs V11 is night and day. 85% more suction, 40% more battery, anti tangle head now and a battery that frankly shits on anything below V10 in terms of runtime and durability. My V11 gets the same runtime as when it was new after buying early 2020, meanwhile my brother's V10 is on it's second battery, that's the difference between having a vacuum with a 58Wh battery and a 91Wh one like the V11.

      hope this clarifies

  • -2

Cheaper at HN - $844 with $70 gift card plus some disinfectant/cleaning solution

    • No - it's not. You're spending more money, getting less for it. The dock and battery sell for $348 combined. Why they are selling it with disinfectant/cleaning solution is beyond me when Dyson vacuums are dry only. If they were Bissell carpet cleaners I'd understand but that's just weird.

  • +1

Don’t waste your time at Thomastown store, they won’t honour the 3 bonus accessories you can only pick 1.

    • Go essendon dfo, I had no issue there getting all 3 aside from the cleaning kit being out of stock so I have to wait for that one to be ordered in.

  • Is there a wet dry model for a good deal or even available ? Thanks.

    • Same for me. Maybe the 3 bonuses are factored in now. If I add a bonus item it just increases the price in the cart.

    • Not from Dyson, best bet would be Bissell probably, otherwise maybe shark I believe

  • +3

No longer showing as $799 - Now comes up as $897 for me

    • Same here. Was it listed in a printed catalogue at all?

  • I see this as a great deal! I was happy to buy mine at this price 18 months ago and bought an extra battery afterwards. It's a great vacuum. For any stick vacuum, having the extra battery is essential to swap in as required.

  • is there a tool for car cleaning (carpet)?

    • Hair screw tool is ideal for that

  • +1

    Expired?, $897 online price

  • +2

Let me know if anyone able to get it for $799 today, I'll jump on it if they can honour that price still

  • +1

TGG jacked the price. This feels quite misleading from them. They simply decided it’s too cheap and went “nope, let’s jack the price we advertised for 2 weeks”.

They also updated digital catalogues. But if anyone sees it in physical catalogues, let us know.

    • Just tried myself & yep the price is jacked now

    • +1

Updated the posting to reflect that they’ve done this and requested anyone with a physical copy upload a pic of it. Pretty scummy, maybe was a pricing error? The price was lower than Dyson staff rate for the vacuum alone. Glad some were able to pick up a bargain

      • I think it’s actually illegal what they have done as it is an advertised price with an end date of 10/04/2023. And people that received it yesterday would have receipts confirming, including their own website correlating $799. Probably just gonna file a report because I think it’s scummy. If you want it to be seen as a price error, then explain it as that, not just price jack silently.

        • +1

I think it’s actually illegal what they have done as it is an advertised price with an end date of 10/04/2023.

          From their Terms of Sale

3.2. TGG reserves the right to change the prices of Goods at any time without notice to you. The price displayed at the time that you place your Order will continue to apply to you even if the price changes before your Order is accepted by TGG.

          • @IceCreamBandit: Not if it’s in a catalogue. This refers to online specific orders from my understanding. I didn’t order online because of the website stating it was an in-store only bonus.

            • @Tuttorix: Jenko has noted that apparently the catalogue was for $897 so $799 may have been a pricing error in the system that wasn’t advertised. Can’t speak to the veracity of that statement though

    • $897 was in the physical catalogue that I had yesterday. Think I'm going to hold off until next time its under $800

  • +2

Went in store and they won’t match the price from yesterday, sad.

Update, rang other two stores nearby and they both offered $844, still not a bad deal IMO.

    Update 2, rang 3 more stores and quoted $855, $860 and $880.

  • If only they would make an auto-cleaning station for it like the LG A9T-Ultra. I hate emptying the Dyson bin manually as it still spreads dust around, and I can't stand seeing the dust & dirt if I don't empty it every time.

    • That mechanism has improved quite a lot since V10, much easier.

      • I have the gen5detect, and bought the LG A9T-Ultra that I use way more often.

        • If that’s a concern, have you tried putting a plastic bag around the bin when emptying? Should catch it all. Surprising to hear you’re using the A9T over the G5 given how much better the G5 does deep cleaning from my experience

          • @Anthropomorphised: That means with the Dyson the emptying process every single time will be: Remove the attachment, get a plastic bag and wrap it around the bin, open the bin in the bag, remove the bag and tie it tightly, close the dusty bin with your hand, put back the attachment, place it on the dock (luckily I haven't drilled my concrete wall to install the 'Wall dok').

All I need to do with the A9T-Ultra is place it on the dock and the freestanding station does everything else automatically for me.

            • +2

@ass3ts: I understand your point, but the whole raison d'etre of the Dyson vacuums is to eliminate the unnecessary waste of bin bags. If I’m honest it’s common for people to complain about dust billowing with older models like the v8 and earlier, but much rarer for new models. That said, there’s clearly a niche for those, particularly who have dust allergies.
Glad you were able to find a model that better suits your needs - interesting that no third party brand has seemed to make a product to solve your issue with the Dyson unit. All the best

  • i think some have said it above but best they could do for me is 844 with all 3 bonus gifts! this is my first cordless stick let alone dyson, havent opened yet as not sure if i should have invested in something else. mainly for carpet and help would be nice!

    • +1

Believe me you won’t regret, can’t complain with $349 worth of bonuses.
It comes with a motorised carpet head and with 185AW of suction you can’t go wrong.

      • more excited now to open it with your comment haha! thanks for that :) it should do the trick for spot cleaning as do have a bagged bosch vacuum but its a pain to plug in and carry around for just some spots around the office/study room

        • +1

I have sold the old Dyson corded barrel as soon as I got the V10. Surprisingly V10 cleans better too. Enjoy your new toy ;)

  • Can get for $852. I only have hardwood floors, is the v11 over kill or you guys reckon it'll be a game changer

    • +1

Is it a a whole house cleaner or for spot cleaning? I’d wait for a deal on an Absolute model model if all hardfloors personally as the soft roller will do a quicker and more thorough job.
If your spot cleaning look out for a V8 absolute deal but if doing whole house I’d look at an absolute for any mode from V11 and up

      • It'll be for the whole house. I'll take your advice and hold off for an absolute. Really appreciate your insight.

        • +1

No stress at all, happy Easter!

          • @Anthropomorphised: OP,

If the deal is no longer obtainable due to a significant increase in price (or changes in sale or offer terms) then you must click the "Expire" button on the bottom of your deal post.

Do not change the price displayed on the deal title as that will cause the votes to become misrepresented. The votes are for the product at the lower price ($799), not a higher one ($897). Thanks and regards

            • @scrimshaw: Hi @scrimshaw thanks for letting me know and apologies as I didn’t intend to misrepresent but rather show that some bonuses are still available. For future reference should I post that as a separate deal if retailers do that?

    • how did you manage to get it for 852?

I tried adding the v11 and the bonus items to cart but the price is $1334.. is it possible to order this deal online or is it just for walk-ins?

Sad that my local TGGs are closed for Easter.. was hoping to get this today as my old dyson v6 just broke =(

      • I called up the local store, asked if they could come down in price closer to what was yesterdays deal. They came back with $852

  • Sadly missed the $799 but I managed to grab it in-store for $844 with all bonuses. Not bad!

Poor staff in store had no idea about the bonuses and find out how to put them through, but they came through great, and price matched to Harvey Norman's $844 too.
Bottom of the online catalogue page it's on mentions the bonuses are given at point of sale, which helped to clarify they're not an online claim or anything.

    receipt
