Nice! dog kibble has got ridiculous lately, nice to see some true OzB value for money. evem Budget Pet Products or buying in bulk can't match the price per kilo

  • Would this be suitable for a small dog?

    • No it's made for adult dogs.

    • +1

Yes, it will be fine for a smaller dog.

    • small breed versions are identical, just smaller sized biscuits.

  • Checkout doesn't seem to be working for me. Get's stuck in the cart screen, and the checkout button does nothing.

  • Worker for me - thanks OP

Make sure you aren't taken in by the "science diet" branding and the vet affiliations that Hills have.

If it fits the diet you choose to feed your dog then all good, but note that it includes grain fillers that dogs have no biological need for:

    Ingredients
Chicken, Whole grain wheat, Cracked pearled barley, Whole grain sorghum, Whole grain corn, Corn gluten meal, Chicken meal, Pork fat, Chicken liver flavor, Dried beet pulp, Soybean oil, Lactic acid, Flaxseed, Potassium chloride, Iodized salt, Calcium carbonate, Choline chloride, vitamins (Vitamin E supplement, L-Ascorbyl-2-Polyphosphate (Source of vitamin C), Niacin supplement, Thiamine mononitrate, Vitamin A Supplement, Calcium pantothenate, Vitamin B12 supplement, Pyridoxine hydrochloride, Riboflavin supplement, Biotin, Folic acid, Vitamin D3 supplement), Minerals (Ferrous sulfate, Zinc oxide, Copper sulfate, Manganous oxide, Calcium iodate, Sodium selenite), Oat fiber, Taurine, Mixed tocopherols for freshness, Natural flavors, Beta-carotene, Apples, Broccoli, Carrots, Cranberries, Green peas.

Absolutely this. They're a garbage company. Feed your pets this trash and you'll have pets with trashed health

7 of the first 9 ingredients:

Cracked Pearled Barley, Whole Grain Wheat, Whole Grain Corn, Whole Grain Sorghum, Corn Gluten Meal, Soybean Meal, Brewers Rice

Absolute trash, why do people pay so much for this crap? Imagine how blocked up you'd be after eating that combination!
Go look at some good Australian brands like Lifewise or Stay Loyal. Hypro is another good option that's on the cheaper side compared to those two.

Recently, I did research on Dog food and settled on Petzyo. So far my whippet enjoys it and no hangs up. Ingredient list looked pretty good too:

Ingredients: Sustainable Chicken, Turkey, Sweet Potato, Peas, Lentils, Carrots, Broccolli & Broccoli Stem, Tomato, Spinach, Kelp, Blueberries, Rosemary, Parsley, Basil, Oregano, Turmeric, Chicken Oil, Flaxseed Oil, Fish Oil, Vitamin and Minerals (Vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B11, B12, D, E, K, Taurine, Niacin, Folic Acid, Biotin, Choline, Pantothenic Acid, Omega 3 and 6 Fatty Acids, Iron, Zinc, Copper, Manganese, Selenium, Iodine and Cobalt).

I will note that finding a general consensus on good dog food seems to be thin, unlike for example a Sony TV on Ozbargain, which gets good reviews overall. I feel like dog food - it really varies.

I just refer back to this website every time it's time to buy a new bag to mix things up and look for specials online. Hadn't seen Petzyo but $170 for 16kg is out of the question :(

      • Thanks for this. I might switch it up and buy this for my lab. He’s currently on ivory coat Turkey, seems to be fine but would like something more natural. Lots of bullshit fillers in most dog food unfortunately

    • LMAO "blocked up" you realise you are talking about wholegrains that are full of fibre, which literally assist in digestive health and bowel motions

      • …but only in a herbi/omni style gut, no? Wouldn't it cause gas and gastro-discomfort in a carnivores' system, what with the shorter gut and less reliance on beneficial flora to break down the plant cell walls/cellulose?

        • Dogs are omni. If this was cat food then there would be an issue.

Thank you, ordered the dual pack. I think that's the cheapest I have ever bought, comes down to around $80 for 12 kg pack.

Don't listen to what people say about grain or grain free food for your pet. If it works for your pet, go for it.
But do check with your vet who is more knowledgeable about your specific pet, than a general comment from others (including me).
    All pets (dogs) are different.

From personal experience, I can confirm that my pet is doing great on Hills Science dog food. My pet is in great shape, is happy, and there are no concerns from my pet's Vet.

  • Cheaper at petcircle (wven morw with cashback). Choose auto delivery then cancel

    • Probably better to stack with Amex promo and $20 off first order code

Cheddar cash back is offering $70 off 1st purchase - stacked with Amex promo you basically get this for free plus $5 profit

Thanks OP great price. Quite frankly people can have whatever opinions they want on Hills Science or other food, what would be appreciated if they kept their bs opinions to themselves.

    search https://99petshops.com.au/

    • Thanks bookmarked. Doesn't seem to compare against Amazon though (or at least I didn't see - for one product was cheaper on Amazon with S&S 10% off)

Hills Science Diet gave my cat diabetes. They're absolute cowboys. Zero accountability. Wouldn't ever touch them again.

    • Hills Science Diet gave my cat diabetes

      Zero accountability

I find this hard to believe. What specific ingredient gave your cat diabetes from Hill's?
