  If possible I'd recommend people consider buying something with a stainless bowl, it's far more hygienic for long term use. That said, some cats hate the metallic taste it can give water.

      Its about plastic becoming porous rather than cleaning frequency, though you should indeed clean either regularly. :)

        We clean ours every week and fully replace the water. We use a couple of bottle brushes.
