      What are you on about? These are professional film critics who do it for a living.

      Surely they MUST have at least the absolute bare minimum of an idea of what they're talking about, when they say the movie "has all the charm of an unplugged Game Boy".

          Not sure if the sarcasm in my last comment was laying it a bit too thick and the down voters took it seriously, or if people are instead upset with me making fun of those poor, downtrodden mainstream journalists.

          P.S.
          The movie was good. I'd rate it at least 7/10, even treated purely as a family-friendly animated film for people who might only know the bare minimum about Mario games.

          +1 to +2 if the viewer is a Nintendo fan, and can appreciate the multi-layered references to various Mario games (and other Nintendo games). Many of course are pretty in-your-face, but there are others that are seamlessly woven into the movie.

    It's going to make over a billion USD. I guess it's too bad kids don't read reviews? And 56 may be certified "rotten", but it's close to being 60 which is "fresh". If you're a big fan of Mario then that's gotta be worth at least 4 more RT points.

    Took the kids yesterday. Youngest Nintendo fan rated it as the best movie he'd ever seen.

    It's not as bad as the review make it out to be, if you assume it's a kids movie, rather than a movie aimed at Nintendo fans that sleep in their mums spare room
