QANTAS (HBA-BNE Return) on LastMinute.ie (€243 ~ $285 AUD). Qantas Website ~ $410

240

Good morning everybody :)

I was planning to book a Hobart-Brisbane return (3rd week of August) for the cheapest price using all the possible combinations (direct, indirect, multiple airlines etc) on skyscanner and it was coming out to be around $370. This is without any additional baggage or food.

My german housemate was searching for flights on the german version of the site and it showed a return leg with QANTAS (food + baggage) for € 243 ~ 285 AUD including taxes, etc. I have not taken into account foreign exchange fees etc since that is variable depending on what card one has.

I just searched www.lastminute.ie (the Irish version of the site) and it's still showing that low price for a range of dates. I haven't checked other legs or dates besides the one I needed to book, it may or may not be cheaper for your desired leg.

$ 285 AUD for a Hobart-Brisbane return on Qantas with food and baggage is definitely a bargain for me. Thanks, hope it helps :)

Additional routes (HBA-CNS) —-> Hello once again ! Just ran a quick search on the same site for another trip I might do (Hobart-Cairns return) with a departure around 29th September and return around 9th October which comes up with a price of approximately AUD 310 for a QANTAS flight. The closest to that on skyscanner (australian version) or lastminute.com.au for the same QANTAS flight is around $700 and the cheapest is around $570 with multiple airlines, no food and no baggage.

MOD EDIT: the 1 beside your name tells us its your first post.

  • Not as cheap as some of the sale fares throughout the year BUT a great price for QANTAS nevertheless with food & luggage included and especially as it's only weeks away from departure too!

Ahh Hobart, my home away from home.

    • Most of the time travelling by one way tickets can save you heaps due to conversion rate especially in Asia, but I tried that here and got $310 for HBA-CNS, but a return though was cheaper @ €257.64 (AUD$302.838)…

Thanks rohamp…. Always appreciate new weapons to use in my armoury in the never ending price combat with the airline marketing machines :-)

  • I usually fly virgin Bris - Hobart, they fly direct. I can just make 2 and a bit hours without eating. Have driven down to Coolangatta for a cheap fare direct with jetstar, though.

Does anybody travel for sunny Brisbane to frosty Hobart in the Winter? Probably struggling to get passengers.

us brisbane-ites were fareezing here this last week or so… single digit mornings!

    • Yep, I'm going down next week… but I love the cold :) I managed to get $79 direct flights to Launceston through Jetstar about a month or so ago during one of their crazy sales. Two people return totalled just over $300 but of course that's without check-in baggage or food.

Looking forward to another visit to the ol' Hobes while we're down there. Watch those temps tho, Brisbane has actually been colder than Hobart a fair few times in the last few months! Doesn't get very warm during the day down there tho.

      • Its been a very cold week here - plenty of snow on the mountain… we did make it to 14degrees the other day though :)

  • Looks like a good deal to me!

  • That CNS trip would have to be pretty much peak season. It's probably TAS school holidays and peak sailing time in the Whitsundays.

  • I attempted to check the Fare Rule information for this trip but got this:

Apologies but at this stage we are unable to display the fare rules for your selected itinerary.

If you wish to confirm the fare rules prior to confirming your reservation please contact our Sales Department on 123456789

When I checked fares to some other domestic destinations on lastminute.ie the fare rules included a clause like the following:

05 ADVANCE RESERVATIONS/TICKETING - NOTE - TEXT BELOW NOT VALIDATED FOR AUTOPRICING.
    REFER INTERNATIONAL FARE CONDITIONS
    —-
THIS FARE MUST BE ISSUED COMBINED WITH QF/BA
OUTBOUND INTERNATIONAL FARE - ON THE SAME TICKET.

  • Yeah it says that in the fare rules. Can anyone confirm if it really has to be booked with an international ticket? I found a deal on perth - sydney return but with those clauses.

I'm not sure about this fare rule. I successfully booked my HBA-BNE return, linked it to my Qantas frequent flyer account, selected my seats and requested my meals too ! :)

  • Has anyone successfully used this deal and flown with no problems?

Hey :) Just an update to everyone else too regarding my travel ! Flew from HBA to BNE with absolutely no issues (had the seat and meals I requested). Allowed the standard 1 piece of baggage with a maximum weight limit of 23 kilos. Also online checked-in for my return flight with no issues either. Hope that helps !

      • Awesome, thanks for the update! :)
        This is an awesome find!
