Seiko Prospex Land Tortoise SRPH17K 42.4mm Sapphire Crystal Watch $449 Delivered @ Starbuy

170

I like tortoises. I have a couple, including the rose gold one from this deal and chucked a bracelet on it, and also the "Night Vision" one.

This is a decent price for a plain black dial on a bracelet, because if you squint a bit, it almost looks like a Willard for 1/4 the price!

    Propex

    Propex?

I like this watch. Simple, clean and with a sense of direction.

      Good catch, thanks.

      sense of direction

I still remember how you got me when I first joined.

There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.

  • Waiting for a sub 500 coloured King Turtle with metal band. Is the rep on ozb?

    • Dunno, but @WatchNerd knows the owner

this watch is a top to bottom winner

size is right 42mm 12mm thick weight is low, solid 4r35 AND sapphire and of course its a cut above a Seiko 5 for not much more and its a proper diver

    • And it always reminds you to Never Eat Soggy Weeties. Win win.

      • ok now that bugs me

i know theres a way to determine north using a watch and sun position?

        silly feature really but harmless

    • Not sure why they added a rotating compass bezel over a dive timer….

      • +1

land tortoise, not a turtle which are real divers

        • +1

No no, I get that. I just think compass bezels are almost universally less useful or practical, and definitely inferior to a dive timer (irrespective of whether you use the dive timer for actual diving)

Also funny/sad that we - the watch community - need to actually specify "land tortoise"…

          • @fleetfeather: I've never used the bezel on any of my divers, nor do I dive, so the bezel is like whatever idc. I bet the vast majority of people who buy divers don;t actually dive. Like I have a Sinn U1—I'm not going anywhere near 1000m—maybe 2m in my friend's pool.

@rosebank: Oddly enough, I use my sinn u1 ds bezel everyday - usually to ensure client appointments run on time, or to ensure I don't burn anything in the oven ;)

My U1 is my everyday watch - tegiment is underrated

              • @fleetfeather: Nice! I only have the regular U1 for the poors

                • @rosebank: I think there's not much difference in value haha… The U1 is a great watch, nice purchase

@fleetfeather: Just saw your edit. Tegiment is the best. My 856 UTC has this really nice champagne-like colour and was my beater for a while. Had to get the sapphire replaced. Barely any scratches on the case and bracelet.

@rosebank: You know a hardening technology works well when your sapphire has to be replaced but the case looks nearly flawless haha…

  • whats your take on the pepsi C/W ?

  • do you have king turtle as well? or you like tortoise more?

    • +1

sorry clicked the wrong thing and replied to main thread ((profanity) do it all the time)

I have a King Turtle, a couple regular turtles, a mini turtle and couple tortoises. I like all of them

  • was looking at tuna quartz with stainless bezel stainless guard and band ….seems the WR300 doubles the price compared to WR200 tuna ….s23633j. saleras had it for $1200, thought they were joking until i saw $2300 rrp on google ….. so this diver at $450 isn’t bad for seiko …..

    • It's not a diver. It says so in the model name.
