  • So is this an authorized reseller I can claim the the accessories kit with?

  • Is anyone jumping on this?

I want the Pro Ultra so bad, but the idea of paying so much (even with the discount) has me feeling sick.

Does anyone have any experience with the S8, or even the S7? Is it life-changing? I should look up some reviews… sigh

I got the s7+ from these guys at their sale around Christmas time. So far, so good, is a lot better than the deebot I9 (8?) I had previously.

So not interested in this deal.

      I have an S7 MaxV
Paid about $1800 from memory about 10 months ago. Fantastic investment. Expensive, yes. But the time saved in almost never having to vacuum or mop your house is amazing. Compared to other robot vacuums (which do not have these hectic docks with auto emptying and which do not clean the mop pads), the vacuum itself is very low maintenance. I have only had to change the larger dust bin once, and otherwise change the dirty water and refill the clean water about 1-2x per week. Sometimes (maybe every 2 months) it asks me to wipe down the camera / LiDAR sensors.

I run it about 1-2x per week as I live with two housemates and the vacuum does a job on 96m^2 of living area.

I also run spot cleans in the kitchen / dining room after a cook up / messy meal. No pets (although I hear it fares well with pet hair).

We have some carpets and some rugs, and the vacuum automatically lifts the mop pad and knows not to mop those areas. Compared to other vacuums where you constantly need to attach / detach the mop pads to vacuum carpets, or to clean them - it is well worth the investment imo.

Not sure if it’s worth paying $800 extra for the S8. From
What I’ve briefly read - the upgrades are not revolutionary. If you can find the S7 MaxV at sub $2k, I think it’s a great buy. If you can wait for the equivalent S8 to drop a bit, it may be worthwhile.

Agree. Some people think the S8 double rollers make a big difference, but otherwise I can't see big improvements. Even the camera is only black and white - so if you want to pay more for that, that is a huge let down given other brands with cameras have colour.

As for whether a robot vac is worth it:
I have the S7 with the auto empty dock and it's been fantastic - I run it every night and it's both gratifying but also slightly depressing to see how much dust accumulates even in 24 hours. Still, it has genuinely changed our lives as hand held vacuuming and mopping is now restricted to spills.

        The downsides:
These robots can get stuck quite easily. Not that often, but my s7 has gotten stuck between dining chair legs (so I have to make the table a no go zone in the app), under low slung prams and even on a play sofa wedge and the bottom of a bookshelf.

Also, they get jammed on standard bathmats. Which means I don't run the mop in my bathrooms. That's def a Debbie downer, but won't affect everybody.

Finally, I would be sure to check other sellers on eBay to see if they have a cheaper price. The official Robo Australia site charged an astronomical $699 for the auto empty dock (not the one with mop pad cleaning!) and their "sales" consisted of waiving the $15 free shipping. That was at least a third more than overseas sites were charging, allowing for FX conversion. If you've become used to paying the same for a product as say, an American or Malaysian resident would, that's a rude shock.

Not sure if I'd purchase this over a Dyson v12 or some sh*t.. I have a v8 now and as good if not better at vacuuming than the big milo I had before that plugs into the wall.. and it doesn't weigh much at all.

    • +8

uh not sure why you are comparing a handheld with a vac robot…

        • +7

Does the Dyson also mop at the same time? Does it do it while you’re not even at home?

          • -3

@Lionheart: I doubt the effectiveness of these robo vacs at vacuuming TBH.

IMO vacuuming requires some skill, independence, and craftiness with getting into the nooks and crannies.

@BargainHunterJohnnyB: Doubt all you want, I did too until I owned one

@BargainHunterJohnnyB: You’d might as well post on a microwave deal about whether a microwave could ever reheat food as well as simply heating it up on the stove.

Really valuable insight here. Thanks for your comment!

@wormarts: A microwave is totally different to a stove - you can't even compare an induction cooktop to a a regular convection one, since you need different quality panware.

A vacuum cleaner is quite literally designed to suck dirt out of carpet floors… if robotic vacuums and mops were a 'thing', do you think that shopping centres would be paying staff to do it?

  • Ebay does not accept the discount code.

    • It does for me. Perhaps you need to be a Plus member?
