Monitoring Qantas Reward Seats Release

I have about half a million Qantas points burning a hole in my pocket, and would like to book a flight (preferably business class) to a currently undecided destination when reward seats become available.

I've had a look at ExpertFlyer but that is paid if you want this sort of function.

Does anyone know of a free tracking and notification service for this?

Cheers

If you can book far in advance enough then you'd want something along the timings mentioned here (e.g. 297 days in advance for Bronze status) https://www.pointhacks.com.au/when-do-award-calendars-open/

Otherwise I'm not aware of any functions that can alert you when something pops up in a timeframe sooner than that (e.g. if all were sold out but someone has cancelled) - just have to keep checking.

I myself am having to do the same for a trip later this year that I haven't pulled the trigger on.

Great site! Hope the dev keeps working on it to allow notifications.

  • Unfortunately there are no real shortcuts. If you want the figurative QFF gold (J award seats), you have to search, search, search, and then search again.

  • Maybe use the next churn card and spend the $7 a month on expert flyer, it will count towards your minimum spend.

You could try awardnexus.com — you can get limited free access if you have a flyertalk account. While its faster than searching the qantas site it's still pretty slow as they seem to be scraping the QF or BA for availability. I'd still suggest expertflyer, its much faster as they seem to have direct access to the booking systems plus they can pull up the fare rules etc.

I subscribe for a month every now and then when i'm planning trips. Managed to get 4 return business class tickets bne-nou before xmas last year thanks to experflyer finding them for me!
